justin22443ParticipantDefinitely need to make some changes to their roster. Of course everyone is going to say trade Arenas, but it’s obvious no team is willing to take on his huge contract. So, other than trading Gil what would you do to rebuild this team?

goneParticipantIm goin to take a different approach and say find a new PF. Blatche is good but has to many holes in his game to be a starter. I think if we have a better defensive/rebounding PF it would have a tickle down effect in terms of more chances on the break and closing out games

JJeff6ParticipantHow about get a decent big man who can put up adequate numbers and be smart on the court, as Javale McGee doesnt seem to be the right guy to have.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantEither McGee or Blatche must go..They’re both too immature and have no understanding on how to play the game…I think it was either Brent Barry or Tim Legler that said Blatche plays like a young Garnett..At 1st i didnt see it but the more i watch Blatche play i see the similarities….Alot of young players dont have respect for the guys that came before them, but if they want to get better at some point they should ask them for advice…
At the start of the season alot of people had them pegged as a possible 7th or 8th seed in the East…It might be too late once Wall gets healthy….
Would Denver be willing to aquire a young talent like Blatche,a point guard like Hinrich in case they decide not to resign Billups and a 1st round pick and for Carmelo who will be returning home?

justin22443ParticipantI definitely agree with the Blatche statement. I think we should trade him for an expiring contract or some picks. Only problem is we don’t have a decent PF to put in the lineup to replace him if he’s gone. I think we should keep McGee, but I don’t really like having him in the starting lineup as of now.

sheltwon3ParticipantI think keep Blatche but get veteran big like Camby since I have heard Portland is trying to get younger

justin22443ParticipantI’d love to see us get Carmello, even if only for the rest of this season. If by some miracle we did get him, maybe playing along side Wall would sway his decision to leave or stay.

goneParticipantI secretly want them to make a move for Melo but I know the Knicks fans would attack me but Blatche Kirk and a 1st probably lottery is better than Curry, Gallo and a 1st in 2034

justin22443ParticipantI think if we threw Nick Young in a trade to Denver we might be able to swing it, but I doubt that would happen. Nick’s been our best player this year outside of Wall.

WizardofOzParticipant1. Fire the Medical Staff: Portland fan may beg to differ, but the Wizards have the WORST medical staff EVER. There have been numerous complaints from former players like Jarvis Hayes, Etan Thomas, Rip Hamilton, and more. I could post the links of all of their complaints, but I’m too lazy to do it. And this season, there up to it again. Earlier in the season, John Wall sprained his left foot against Chicago, and he came back, but if you ask me and other Wizards fans, they rushed him back. Ever since that injury, he’s been impressive at times, but just isn’t playing with the same WOW-factor that he was playing with before the injury. And now, he has knee tendinitis. WHEN IS IT GOING TO END?!? They also need to le Andray Blatche rest for a few games. He has been playing with a nagging knee injury all season, and he got his knee drained 2 days ago. This mediacl staff is famous for rushing players back. They’re the main reason why Gilbert Arenas isn’t the same player he used to be, because they rushed him back. I heard that the only reason why they were around so long is because they had connections with Abe Pollin. Well now that Abe has passed and Ted is here, I see no reason not to clean house.
2. Get rid of the soft big men: This team has had a soft frontcourt for YEARS, and that has not changed. They have Andray Blatche, Yi Jianlian, and JaVale McGee(wo I don’t think is soft, just of slight build). Andray Blatche is soft and his play hasn’t been very impressive this season. His play has been very inefficient. His defense hasn’t been good either. I do think that the broken foot he suffered in the offseason is really affecting him though. He broke his foot, which prevented him from working on his game and caused him to come to camp out-of-shape, and he still isn’t in shape(I think he has the worst body in the NBA right now). He was never an athletic freak, but it looks like he’s been playing in slow motion this season. He been looking extra slow. But, as he rounds back into shape, I expect him to play better. But with that being said, he still plays too far from the basket and doesn’t make any power moves. I’m a huge AB fan, but if the Wizards land a stud power forward like Kanter or Sullinger in the draft, I wouldn’t mind if he was traded. And Yi, he’s just TERRIBLE. He’s a SF in a PF body, and is charmin-soft. He has stone hands, gets worked on the boards, and gets worked on defense. He pretty good from mid-range, but the last thing the Wizards need is another jump-shooting PF. He played well in the preseason and the Wizards were thinking about signing him to a contract extension, but hasn’t impressed me this season and I think he’s gone after the season ends. Even though we have a lot of soft big men, Ernie Grunfeld has realized this and drafted big, tough big men in Trevor Booker and Kevin Seraphin this season.
3. Dump Gilbert Arenas: I love Gil, and he’s one of my favorite players, but I think he needs to be traded. He’s not playing with the same passion, and he isn’t as aggressive and is WAYYY slower then he used to be. His bread-&-butter used to be driving to the lane and drawing fouls. Now, he’s just way more passive and usually just shoots jumpshots. He also can’t move like he used to. The 3rd knee surgery really hit him hard. After the first 2 surgeries, he was still quick and looked like he could drop 20 every night, but after that 3rd surgery, he looks way slower. During the preseason, he was moving pretty good, but the injuries have also hurt him. He’s not in full playing shape right now, so he’s probably not at his peak in quickness right now. But even when fully healthy, he’s nowhere near te player he was 3 seasons ago. I would trade him for %100 expirings, but that would be a dream scenario. I really hope the Magic pull the VC-Gil trade off. But if they don’t, I don’t think any other team has interest in him and the Wizards might be stuck with him.
4. Hire a big man’s coach: I would do this mainly for JaVale McGee. His has a lot of potential, but is still a knucklehead. The Wiz need an experienced big man coach that will teach him the fundamentals of the game like boxing out, and someone who will improve his offensive repertoire. What about Kevin McHale? Flip and him had a great relationship in Minnesota. I would be estatic if this happened.
5. Smart drafting: I think the days of trading lottery picks for 1-year rentals are over with Ted in the fold. Ted has said that he wants the Wizards to build through the draft during this rebuild, and in order to do that, they need to draft smartly. Clearly the Wizards biggest need is SF. Al Thornton is solid, but he dissapears in too many games and Josh Howard is also good, but he’s an aging vet who probably isn’t in this team’s future plans. Luckily for the Wizards, this years draft is full of potential franchise SF’s like Terrence Jones, Perry Jones, and Harrison Barnes. They also need to trade for more draft picks. In the last draft, the Wizards were active, somthing they weren’t before. They picked John Wall, traded for Trevor Booker, Kevin Seraphin, and Hamady N’Diaye. John Wall is a franchise PG, Trevor Booker, who I think was a reach, has the chance to be a solid player and a Jason Maxiell-type. Kevin Seraphin is RAW, but if he develops, he can turn into just what the Wizards need-a BANGER. N’Diaye is also raw, but he is a great defensive big. Overall, I was satisfied with last years draft. If the Wizards have more drafts like that, they can become a good team soon.
With all that has gone on this season, there have been 2 bright spots for the Wizards, John Wall and Nick Young. John has been great, but just needs to stay healthy. Nick Young has been shooting LIGHTS OUT and has been very consistent, something he never was before.
