Hey guys, I just want to hear your opinion on what kind of impact Shaq will make for the Boston Celtics once he comes back healthy, rumors are from sources close to the C’s indicate that there is a high chance that Shaq will return againt the Heat possibly game 1 tomorrow or game 2. Personally, my opinion is that hes old and a little slow, BUT he is a big body, still has OK scoring abilities and can still put up good defense, he will most likely alter shots with his sheer mass hugeness. This is definitely a bonus for the C’s and the trade with Perkins isnt looking all that bad, especially since Jermaine O’neal is playing very well and with Shaq coming back I think the celtics are in good shape to win it all this season. What do you guys think?

Diesel may be old, but he’ll do exactly what the Celts will want him to do, clog up the middle. It will prove troublesome for the Heat, simply because when their shots stop falling, they will try to penetrate and run into isssues. However, Lebron and Wade are also experts at drawing fouls. So I don’t know. I’d say the Celts have an advantage, but it can easily be taken away if they get him in early foul trouble.

^Shaq’s also an expert at giving fouls. He doesn’t even attempt basketball plays anymore, if you come down the lane your getting clobbered. Adding foul trouble along with the injury I doubt he is a substantial difference maker this series.

If he plays, he makes a difference. That first game the Heat and Celts played, Shaq gave them issues. He may not be the dominant player he once was, I mean, look at last year, but he can cause major problems. Very hard to stop and will make your big guys pick up fouls. The Celtics may not need him, but him being available would help them out, for sure. Not to mention, I am sure the Heat would be glad not to have to have him come in for 15-20 minutes and wreak havoc on their low post defense. He is somewhat of a defensive liability, but the Heat are actually one of them teams where that does not take up much consequence. Shaq may be old, but I am sure the Celtics would love for him to mess with the Heats big guys for the beginning of the 1st and 3rd quarters.

That might not be an issue for the Heat then. Illgauskas starts and matches up the best with Shaq an the Heat’s best lineup is with Anthony anyway so if Shaq get’s Z in foul trouble thats a bit of a plus.

I think you forget how big he is. Add in the fact that despite his aging and obvious loss of athletisism he is still very mobile per pound and can get the job done. I really am not hating when I say this, but I doubt the Heat make it to 7 games. I highly doubt it.

Im not forgetting anything at all, I watched every single Cavs game last year; the guy couldn’t even finish around the rim. As for the series, all I can say is I am 1000% positive that this will be high quality basketball and a dogfight each and every game- each win is going to be earned.
