Just curious how high do you all think Skal can rise if he could continue his impressive play as of late? Also do you guys think there a chance a team like Minny takes him in the top 5 if they don’t get a top 2 pick? I think he would be great for that core and he won’t be expected to produce right away. Plus it sets them up for a top pick in the following draft.

I really like that he had a hard time to begin the year. Then get steadliy better. Has the body and skill to be really good. Now he has showed he can learn from a coach. Maybe up to 7 or 8.

Let me start out by stating that this is a big IF. So IF Skal can play at this level for a few games in the SEC tournament and Kentucky makes it to the Elite 8 or so and he is playing at that same level he will go in the top ten.

To answer the part about Minny drafting him, I could see it if they move Pekovic which I think will happen. Skal and Karl-Anthony Towns are apparently friends and have worked out a few times and Towns loved working with him. I could see the Lakers taking a flyer on Pek since they won’t have to pay their young players for a couple of years and he could pair with Randle in the front court.

The way he has been playing recently and if he continues to play this way while continuing to get his body stronger then he moves right back into top 5-6 heading into the draft….not many big men can shoot with that type of elevation and grace when fully squared to the basket….his footwork is very fluid when positioning himself to take these jump shots…..he still gets punished by stronger players and still is barely able to hold his position in the post but the skill is undeniable….I have never wavered my opinion on him I’m thinking he just came in with too high of expectations seems like this could be a Drummond scenario all over again….there is a reason why he had a chance to challenge for #1 when coming into the season…..still has to work on his defensive awareness, protecting the paint, one on one defense, positioning in the post but what he does have right now that will translate is a gorgeous jump shot and great shot blocking (timing, length, and coordination)….if Bender is still considered to be "Top 3" while being a "couple years away" why is Skal any different?!?

I am not easily impressed by prospects, Skal impressed the firstvcouple of games… he dissapeared but he shorlwed the skill to do what he is doing.

I was blown away by his shooting ability in CBB right after HS, i dont understand what happened to him after that…

I think he can easily go #1 if he really gets his shit together in March amd puts up nice workouts

KoKayne Dawkinz needs to put down the pipe if he thinks Skal is top 5 material.

I don’t even have this guy in my lottery…I just have no faith in him defensively. A few weakside blocks doesn’t mask the fact that any PF/C worth his paycheque would have his way with him down low. Even Luis Scola types ould get automatic buckets against this guy.

Dude can hardly catch a rebound and he gets in foul trouble quickly. Not to mention how mentally fragile and uncompetitive he is. I can easily, easily name 12-15 better prospects than this guy.

My pro comparison is Euroleague legend/Former Rocket David Anderson…if he develops a 3pt shot.

I see no reason why he can’t jump back in to top 5 conversation if he continues to avg 15 pts, 8 rbds, and 3 blocks for the rest of the season.  Skal made everyone look stupid for rating him so highly but there was a reason he was projected at one point to be the #1 pick. He’s a legit 7ft shot blocker with a fluid skill set. Cal’s track record of big men (Cousins, Davis, KAT) probably led to Skal being a bit overhyped but he looked like a legit player top 5 pick vs LSU. His struggles are well documented, but he has improved and fought through all the criticism which is an achievement in itself.  It’s only been two games, but he’s getting his confidence back, picking up the speed of the game, and learning how to fight on boards. If he continues this, I see no reason why we shouldn’t be talking about him as a top 5 pick because there aren’t 5 players with more potential than Skal in this draft if he continues to rebound. That’s a big if though. Let’s see what happens.

I dunno how anyone could value Skal Labissiere over Ivan Rabb.

Thats gotta be the pecking order….

Rabb is smarter, better, a whole year younger, is doubling his stats….

Rabb has been a highly touted player and played against high level talent since he was in middle school.  The same can’t be said about Skal so he coming along slower but I still think he has a higher ceiling than Rabb. Rabb is the safer prospect because he’s already shown that he’s going to be a great defender, rebounder, and finisher and comes with an unselfish attitude and high motor. Skal has more offensive potential while already being a great shot blocker. IMO Skal has more potential but it depends on how patient a team wants to be.  I know I’m in the minority but I still think Skal can be a star. I’ve seen him in a couple workouts before and was blown away by his talent, fluidity, and skill set at his size. Once, or if, he catches up both physically and mentally he’s going to show why he was so highly touted before the season started

Prospects like Rabb come a dime a dozen. He’s a great prospect but there seems to be a PF every year that could do the things he does. With the way the NBA is moving every team values a big who can protect the paint and shot. I think him not playing H.S basketball for two years and plus not playing much AAU basketball set him back and he just wasn’t ready for the physicality of the college game. I think in time it will come. This guy just has so much potential I don’t see how a team picking in the top 5 that is likely a few years away from contending doesn’t take this guy

If he keeps up his recent play i can see him cracking the top ten of the draft between 7 and 10 but not much furter than that. Then again if Kentucky make it deep into the tournament then who knows, maybe he sneaks into the top 5.
