valentineBefore I start, do Knicks fans exist on this? haha. Possibly losing their "star" to FA and don’t have any draft picks. But Amare is back, hah.
Another article in the Paper with something interesting.
Philly trades – #3 (Parker)
Utah trades – #5 (Vonleh) and either #23 OR 1st Round Pick Next Year.
Philly is bringing in Vonleh and this makes a lot of sense to me.
I think you lose a dependable scorer in Parker. Vonleh fits the 4 spot and is an ideal 4, but neither Lamarcus Aldridge, Chris Bosh, or even Kevin Love (who all have average athleticism, non-dominant), get very far as star players on their teams, and Tim Duncan was surrounded by a team that was 10-deep.
I think your 4 has to be a great great passer surrounded by talent. Not sure Vonleh is that. He fits the bill as a great sized power forward potentially, but how far does that take you?
Parker might potentially dominate a game, would Vonleh? I don’t think the PF (unless you are Duncan (stability and size), Garnett (defensive heart and skill), or Dirk (top notch athleticism)), takes you anywhere.
I think I might rather go Parker here. I think even Payne at 10 would be a solid option.

BallinmvpParticipantSorry but I don’t understand your post, are saying philly should take Parker or Utah should trade up for Parker? Then you say take Payne at 10, I’m lost.

PhillytheKidBut thats because I didn’t want all the Philly-bashers trolling another Philly topic, I thought I might expand on it to discuss the importance of the PF position on a winning team.
The potential trade makes a lot of sense.
Basically I’m asking — would you give up Parker for Vonleh and #23.
Although I think Vonleh has the ideal size and makeup for a PF, I don’t see him and hte players he is compared to, being impact players that get very far in the NBA playoffs (Love, Bosh, Aldridge) as stars.
I think your 4 has to be a GREAT passer out of hte post.
So I don’t think you need to in this potential star-studded draft, spend a top 5 pick on the PF position. I’d take the Swingman 3 in Parker, and then at 10 take either Payne or Saric to play alongside Noel.
I would love to see Parker and Saric play together, but i think defensively it creates a lot of questions.
