Mr.Knick 32ParticipantAccording to Draftexpress, Detroit was offered the 16th, 23rd and Al Jefferson for the 7th and Tyshaun Prince and Chris Wilcox. Pistons decline.
I’m not a GM by any means but really? You move down in the draft, pick up another pick, add a post player who could put up 22-11 in the East? Your giving up Prince, the 7th ( which you were believed to take Ed Davis) and Chris Wilcox?
This is why the Pistons are picking 7th everybody!

tjc23ParticipantIf they would take out the picks it would be a good trade and with the 7th pick Detroit could get Monroe or Udoh

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantMonroe and Udoh are better then Jefferson right now?

BasterdInABasketParticipantPistons have quickly become one of the most poorly managed teams in the league. The roster has no size or toughness and Rip, Gordon and Villanueva are three awful unmovable contracts and Dumars just continues to look clueless right now. I said it last year after signing Gordon and CV to almost $100 Mill that they wouldnt be in the playoffs until they were moved.

BasterdInABasketParticipantAl Jefferson is a 22-12 guy when hes healthy. No big man they get at 7 will get those numbers in their career. Davis and Monroe have a VERY slim chance to but not for a while.

esperanzafleet69Participanti understand why u think thats a bad idea… but, tayshaun is on an expiring deal, and somehow i think theyll hold out till the deadline to make a major move like that… although… if the draft picks were taken out of the equation, and the trade was something like jefferson and hollins for tayshaun and wilcox then the pistons would definately do it…
also, i bet a lot of people didnt expect jefferson to be a 22-12 guy when he was drafted 15th in 2004… u never know how good any of these prospects will be until they play…

JRdaFilipinoParticipantWOW!
If I were the pistons I would have done it. Not only do you get an all star caliber big man you get picks 16 AND 23? They could land potential wings to replace Prince (Hayward, Henry, Anderson, Ebanks) in addition to already having Jonas Jerbko, Austin Daye and Dajuan Summers!?!?! They could also use the extra pick on a big man prospect like Whiteside, Orton or Sanders. OR they could another way and draft a back up pg like Bledsoe or Avery Bradley. This pick would have been perfect for the Pistons, not to mention an excellent inside-outside big man combo of Charlie V and big AL. If I were the Piston’s GM and accepted the trade..
pg- Stuckey/ Bynum/ Bledsoe (23)
sg- Gordon/ Jordan Crawford or W. Warren (36)
sf- Hamilton/ Jerebko/ Daye/ Summers
pf- Villanueva/ Maxiell/ Wallace
C- Jefferson/ Brown/ Whiteside or Sanders (16)Playoff contender right here. In the East, anyways.

AllDayyyParticipantJoe Dumars is a complete idiot. That’s been proven over and over, I will even give him a pass on Darko. When you do that he still looks like one of the worst GM’s in the L.

PlatypusParticipantwhy trade for another bad contract and have, Rips Contract, Gordons contract and then Jefferson’s that would be 30 + mill in these 3 players. Prince’s contract is atleast expiring. if it was for Rips contract they would have accepted in a heart beat

JuCoopParticipantIt definitely sounds good and I would be more than tempted to do it but I’m pretty sure Joe D would give them Rip and Wilcox and the #7 in a heartbeat. I do feel that Joe D has really over valued Tayshaun Prince’s worth that damn block on Reggie Miller was light years ago. It’s time to cut him and Rip loose.

JuCoopParticipantYahoo Sports is reporting Aminu is now the front runner for #6 so if that is the case, Dumars would be smart to hold off on the trade to see who might fall, anything can happen. Al Jefferson is a talent but those balky knees and that contract is scary for a team that already has a crap load of bad contracts.

llperezI think Dumars is the ultimate teammate. All these years later and he still doesnt want to leave Isiah hanging as the worst GM ever.

AllDayyyParticipantDX reporting that Udoh is the frontrunner for the 6th pick. Poor Warriors fans, at least the new Unis are awesome.
