DJA has been playing well and we were only a game or so outside of making the playoffs. Sure it might only be a 7 or 8 seed and would prob lose in the first round but its great experience and motivation for them in the offseason. It would also help influence Monroe to re-sign with a trip to the playoffs.
Reggie Jackson is a dreamer and thinks he is better than he really is. He just turned down a 4 year $48 mill contract. He will prob walk in the offseason, let some other team overpay him.
Also lost Singler, who is going to start at SF ?
Even if Jackson is decent, it will take at least 10-15 games for any type of chemistry, meaning the pistons will prob go 2-8 or 3-7 and be out of playoff contention anyway.

Malik-UniversalParticipantthe worst that can happen is that he doesnt re-sign.. we still have jennings stored for next season.. tayshaun is likely gnna start at SF now.. maybe reggie performs really well with us and is involved in a sign and trade and we get value back for him.. your already assuming there not gnna make the playoffs.. anything can happen

For_Never_EverParticipantReggies Jackson is a bit of gunner and volume shooter. He plays similar to Westbrook, but is not as good as Westbrook at what he does. It’s going to be interesting to see what direction SVG takes with him.

Reggie is not a PG by any stretch of the imagination, a flashy lead guard without 3 pt shooting, he didn’t know his limitations.
Should play with a true facilitator, a point foward, another lead guard, or a "superstar".
Reggie should have been a lead guard for hayward, paul george, kobe or melo.
Not the pistons, their poor baskteball IQ and no other lead guard, facilitator, point forward, nor "superstar".

He has shown in a limited sample size when starting for OKC that he can run a team and put up good numbers. I know there’s more to winning than putting up numbers but I honestly think Detroit is a good situation for him.
Worst case scenario for the pistons is he takes the QO like Monroe. Otherwise he prices himself out of the market by signing a max deal which the Pistons definitely should NOT match.
By the way, can anyone confirm we actually signed a SF who isn’t old and busted in Quincy Miller? I heard that somewhere and was looking for confirmation. Otherwise, it’s Dads army on the wings with Butler and Prince.

In fact, I only see the Knicks or the Lakers (less profound) taking an aim at him making it reasonable to expect their won’t be a massive bidding war for this guy. Considering either the Knicks or the Lakers could pick up a PG in the draft (Mudiay/Russell) his market becomes even smaller. I would say Jackson could get a little bit more than Isaiah Thomas money (around $32-36 for 4 years maybe?) which would be an amount the Pistons might actually match.

chaParticipantDJ has been playing fantastic however he is not a starter in this league. He is too small to play good defense for starter minutes and his production offensively is good when he’s on. Brandon Jennings played like an all star this year after Smith left- something I feel like DJ cannot provide night in and night out. Now, the dilemma is how are they going to approach this impending RFA of Jackson and Achilles Injury of Brandon. I just cant see a scenario where they keep both- both a streak shooters which does not help the team that needs spacing (Monroe and Drummond take up space) and a system that basically run pick&roll (again spacing is important). Plus it’s been reported that Jackson, as good as he is offensively, he gives terrible effort on defense and wants STARTER minutes. I don’t see Jennings moving over to the bench (see his comments after SVG gave DJ starter minutes earlier this season). I predict that they’ll let Jennings go because no one can predict how good he’ll be after a severe injury and will regret it soon after. Jennings is good defensively when he wants to be and not to mention he’s not known as a head case like Jackson. It’s just sad as a Pistons fan to see him go, after all the hard work in the off season and playing at a high level while (almost) leading this hard working Pistons to a playoff berth.
