Portland…I know what was said about Chicago and NY but look at the packages those two teams would have to put together and then think about the pieces the Blazers have to make a deal work and not cripple their roster and Core…here’s just one of the Deals you can offer the Nuggets to help them in their rebuild and potential playoff berth…???

Any deal would center around one of the 2 starting Centers…Camby??? I know he has history with Denver and he’s a seasoned vet and injury prone and so on…Then’s there is the Oden factor…Adding Oden for Carmelo means you may not have to part with Rudy or Bayless or both…If your giving up Camby then expect to give up Rudy or Bayless or both …I think the smart thing would be to add Babbit in place of Bayless and throw a pick or 2 at them to sweeten the pot…(2nd rounders of course)

This way they get Starting C and 2 young players and picks to start the rebuild…Bullips and Co.(K Mart and Nene) may be dealt next year for the other pieces to the puzzle Denver has to put together…

Portland Gives Up Camby or Oden(Oden is the guy that makes or breaks this deal)
and Fernadez/Bayless and or Babbit and picks…

Portland would love to keep Oden/Roy/Aldrigde and the youth of Rudy/Bayless/Babbit…but coupling their offensive potential and Camby’s defense they can Keep Roy/Oden and LA and add Carmelo to the mix they can make a serious title push with a healthy Oden and Roy, LA’s steady 19 and 9 and Carmelo being a top 10 scorer and go to guy( Roy may be the guy in Rip City IMO)

They still have a veteran PG Andre Miller and 2 prospect in Kopenen and Mills after he leaves…You’d love to keep Bayless at all cost…but to get a Superstar you gotta break some eggs…With Melo/Roy/Oden and LA in place next year CP3 may look to Portland for that super team instant contender status…

In theory that’s great, but the Nuggets are not trading their star player to a team they have to play 4 times a year.

Or wait for Melo to bolt ala Bosh and Lebron…your Knicks may be the place he signs if he hits free agency…why not get a legit C and young dou or trio of prospects to boot…

Denver can’t play around and get nothing for him. I’m not sure if Portland can match up salaries with Denver though. I’m thinking Denver has no interest in Miller and then Camby according to trade machine makes 11 mil a year for the next two years?!? I don’t see Portland being able to pull anything off. I’m thinking if he is interested in Houston and they are interested in him, then that would be the best team to pull off a deal. They are the one team that won’t hurt themselves by losing depth because they have so much. They have expiring deals, as well as a good mix of reasonable contracts, young guys and a bunch of first rounders.

I never thought of Portland as a possible trade partner, but that’s a great idea.
I think a trade Denver would seriously have to consider is Camby, Batum, Rudy, & a conditional 1st rounder or 2. Granted Melo would have to agree to sign an extension with Portland. It might not be the biggest city with the brightest lights, but there’s not a better situation for him to put a team over the top right away(slightly better than ORL and HOU IMO). A starting 5 of Miller, Roy, Melo, Aldridge, & Oden is just as good as the Lakers or Celtics. Portland would still have a deep bench(Bayless, Matthews, Babbit, Pryzbilla, Pendergraph…plus Armon Johnson & Elliot Williams who can both develop into very good role players).

portland doesnt really have anybody denver would want. bayless? they have lawson. fernandez? they have jr smith. camby? is old. miller? is old and they have lawson. batum? portland seems high on him. oden? would portland give him up yet, idk.

i think portland is content to let their young team grow together for a little while. houston would probably be the best fit for everyone.

Melo would not re sign in Portland…. so this idea is pointless. If Melo wanted to stay in a small market in the west, he would just re sign with the Nuggets. Only teams that have a shot are Bulls, Knicks, Wizards and possibly Nets…

whoever he gets traded to, he’s going to end up on the knicks come 2011. Mark my words.

CP3 or Tony Parker WILL join them in NY eventually.

I totally agree, as far as having trading pieces that would entice the Nuggets, the problem is Portland would never pull the trigger for that deal. People have been toting them as having so much potential that they covet every single piece that they have. I think getting Melo would put them in the top 3 in the West hands down, but they just wouldn’t pull that type of a deal off.

Great idea, one problem. Melo wants a big market, and a good team. This is why Chicago is in the mix. Portland is a good team but not a big market, so that might cause a problem. Houston, Dallas, or San Antonio, or Orlando. I think Orlando has the best shot. They could trade Rashard Lewis, Jameer Nelson, and a second rounder. This also could be a 3 team trade, that way no team is left out in the cold. Portland could be included in the deal, but not get Carmelo because of the small market they have, but have great assets that Denver and Orlando covet. Now the team or teams just need to pull the trigger.
