Hear me out…I think I’m onto something to save both franchises here.

Pistons need to unload Josh Smith and they should do it for Snickers Bar if someone offered them. But here is where people will disagree.

    Pistons: Get Carmelo Anthony

Knicks: Get Josh Smith and Charlie V and a 2nd rounder.

This is all under the assumption that no one will make a trade for Melo and the Knicks being in need to get something for him before he hits free agency.

Its great for the Knicks because they can still sell tickets with Josh Smith and JR Smith (Kind of).  But It also frees them up some money with Charlie V’s contract coming off the books.

It’s amazing for the Pistons because they get rid of Josh Smith and that alone should win the trade but they also get to audition Melo to sign there.  If he doesn’t GREAT! they have a HUGE ton of money to throw at Monroe and someone else in free agency.  This might hurt their draft chances which kind of sucks but atleast there wont be 3 more years of Josh Smith in Detroit.

If the Knicks did this, it would be THE worst trade in history.

I’m one of those Knick fans that believes Melo should be on the table. That being said, it has to be a great offer. We better get top prospects and picks in return. Josh Smith and Charlie V? Just saying those two names together makes me angry. C’mon Man.

Carmelo’s leaving (well he might be, and they shouldnt give him the max) so the Knicks should offload him, the problem with this deal is that it’s doubtful that Josh Smith has a positive trade value. He’s one of those guys who could really reinvent himself in a great organization, which it seems the Knicks are not. I’d actually consider this trade if I were the Knicks, but I’d need confidence that my coaches can coax non-retarded behavior from Josh. And I’d want a first rounder.

Haha I understand it’s hard to propose trades when you’re a diehard fan, but there’s no way in hell this goes thru…

For those who are saying the Knicks would be stupid to do this.  You would rather him walk away? for absolutely nothing?  Risk the franchise not selling tickets because they are banking on JR Smith being the franchise player to attract seats.

I understand this is a horrible trade but no way in hell is someone going to give up a 1st round pick for a guy they can get in free agency.  Seriously people… NO ONE will trade for Melo! If you are a Knicks fan you take whatever you can for Melo because you are lucky you are even getting that.  Don’t be picky and act like there is fair trade out there waiting to happen.

I would rather let Melo walk away than inherit Josh Smith’s 54 million dollar deal. Josh Smith is flat out not a winner and a chucker. He has alot of talent, and good defensive ability when he puts in the effort, but his crappy attitude and awful decision making are just not worth it. And honestly, what kind of NBA fan will go to a Knicks game just to see Josh Smith chuck shots? lol. How Joe Dumars signed him for 54 million dollars beats me..

One thing ive never understood  is how GM’s overvalue the free agents they just signed. if the pistons were able to move Smith for anything it would be a massive win, especially if could get a good wing player for him. Monroe to me is a far better player and coupled with drummond makes for an imposing tandem that can be built around. GM’s need to forget the hype created by signings and realise that chemistry is the key to great success and players like Smith will never lead to it. Keeping Monroe and moving Smith should be the priority of the pistons before the deadline.

As a die hard Pistons fan I would give away my first born son if it meant getting rid of Josh Smith and his contract…

This is just for fun so hold the negs…..

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=kbx25t9

Knicks get: Josh Smith, Stuckey (expiring), Charlie V (expiring) and Greg Monroe

    Detroit gets: Melo and Stoudamire

Losing a Stoudmire is virtually the equilavent to keeping a Melo.

Felton and Jennings could be put in the deal to sweeten it for the Knicks, if that sweetens anything. The Knicks could potentially ask them to take Bargs also and they then could enter the Lebron sweepstakes. I don’t believe Melo is worth taking Stoudamire and Bargs even though true superstars are priceless to me, still not taking those bums.

As a pistons fan I would love this trade. IF I WAS a knicks fan, I would neg this.(but i didn’t) Charlie V and  Josh Smith and 2nd rounder would not cut it. MAYBE if the pistons offered Smith, Stuckey, Singler and a future first rounder. Knicks get a strong guard, salary relief, and a legit pf, who is surrounded by shooters. But something tells me the knicks are going to play hard ball for Anthony.

Back to being a pistons fan, I we were to do this trade we would have to get some sort of insurance that Carmelo will resign in detroit (and not bolt elsewhere [lakers?]). But having Melo would solve their shooting and 4th quarter woes, and would give the pistons a chance to contend in the east.

As a knicks this gives them another defensive presence and can play post WELL,while Bargani stay outside, or give them a defensive frontline in chandler and smith that will be a force. Smith can also be a great low post threat as well. It could work out because the knicks have what the pistons don’t which is why Josh isn’t working out in detroit…they have SHOOTERS in JR, Hardaway, Bargani, Prigioni, Artest, and even Stoudemire. I believe it would work out. The biggest question is do they want to have him, and his cap for 4 years? That could be the deal breaker.

But realistically, I believe Josh Smith to Sacramento for Rudy gay would be the best destination. Demarcus needs a defensive big next to him, and the pistons needs a scoring sf.
