dolla130Participantthey drafted Paul George with the 10th pick and lance stepehson in the 2nd round two players with real talent and could contribute right away, but what should they do with danny granger because he and george are both true SF’s do you trade him for a pg and start rebuilding with that young core? or do they try and play him and george together ,and will they start lance at the sg or bring him off the bench or if they cant get a PG this free agency will they slide him to the PG ???

FreeJasonryParticipantGeorge can also play the SG. I know a couple teams were targeting him as a 2 guard which I think he can play and guard the position. As far as Lance Stephenson, that is a good situation because he is going to a city that’s low key and a no nonsense organization. He may be able to contribute and not be a knucklehead. That was probably the best situation for him. Think about it if he went to a big city it’s easier to get distracted. And Lance is a totally different style of player (attitude wise) than the Pacers are used to drafting since the Artest, Jackson mele…

delfamParticipantI wouldn’t mind putting Lance at PG, he is in the mold of Tyreke and he is better with the ball in his hands and slashing to the basket. I still see them doing some kind of trade for a PG though.

TRC1991Participanti think indiana will try and sign ray felton this offseason and wait for the 2011 draft to take a PG of the future (brandon knight, kyrie erving, etc.)

IndianaBasketballParticipantThe Pacers are over the cap. We can’t afford Felton. And even if we could, Bird wouldn’t sign him. He’s not that good.
George, Stephenson and Rolle… I’m very pleased with what Bird did. We still have our expiring contracts and can use them as trade chips to land a point guard. IF not, then we’ll have a truck load amount of money to spend via free-agency next summer.
We’re not going to be a playoff team next season either, so we’ll be right back in the lottery. Next season will be rough, but things are looking up.

GalamothParticipantUnless the Hornets or someone get desperate for cap space, we’re likely to just stand pat and hope for a losing streak at the end of the season. As it’s been mentioned, next year has some real potential franchise type 1’s in the draft and that is likely where the organization is headed.
All that being said, I like the additions that were made. Stephenson really just seems like the icing on the cake for a midseason deal, but if he does stay, he has the shot making ability that the team needs. I’ve never seen Stephenson in a point role whereas Tyreke had a majority of his college season running an offense. While I do see comparisons between his game and Tyreke, I think it’s way too much of a stretch to expect him to run a team and see him as a 20-25 minute a night type of guy to help spell our wing players that are having an off night (Brandon Rush cough).
George will be coming off the bench unless Rush injures himself or he just looks amazing in practices/preseason. People say he can play the 2, but the team has enough people who can also do that and his potential ability to be a potent scorer would play better as a 6th-7th guy.
Rolle on the other hand is an ok player, but I can’t see him being much of an impact type of player. He’ll probably be a cheap big man so that they don’t have to spend money to resign Solomon Jones.

IndianaBasketballParticipantGeorge will start the season as Danny Granger’s backup. I see him having the ability to slide over to the two-guard though.
I’m not sure Rush will be around much longer. Bird tried to send him and TJ Ford to the Bobcats for Augustine and Muhammad this past season.
I expect either Rush or Dunleavy Jr. to be moved sooner rather than later. Maybe both will be moved, which is why Stephenson has a more than just a legit shot to make the roster.
