BiggysmallsParticipantEvery single team in the country has flaws…all of them. There really is no true number 1 team this year, and unlike in past years, I really wouldnt be suprised to see all number 1 teams lose or all number 1 teams make it. Theres alot of parity this year.
Syracuse has alot of talent, they have a veteren group of guys, they dont rely on freshmen like some of the more “talented” teams, they are very balanced offensively unlike alot of teams that just rely on perimeter shooting or scoring in the paint. They have good shooters, good slashers, their big men while maybe not incredibly skilled, they are garbage men who can get offensive rebounds, and finish off of guard penetration. Their Defense is very solid, they have so much length all around and they rebound very well out of their 23 zone. And they have one of the best coaches in college basketball in Jim Boeheim. They are definitly built for a deep run in the tourney.
I’m not saying I would be terribly suprised if someone knocked them off, because this year especially, I think anybody can beat anybody, but they are without doubt one of the most talented teams in the country.
Lets not forget they lost 3 games in the regular season. 2 of which to the Louisville Cardinals. 1 loss to Georgetown is not a huge deal.

Dhamp2ParticipantHow is a team that has 1 top 100 recruit overrated????
The team only has 6 players. Brandon Triche, the team’s starting point guard and worst player, hasn’t scored in like five games. I predicted this to Adi one month ago…. I was right!!!!!
Dhamp2….I have written it and it is now law.

cuseflynn10Participant7 players in this day and age of college basketball is plenty. With 4 TV TOs per half, plus each team having 5 TOs available, plus halftime there is plenty of time to catch a breather.
Throw in FTAs and the fact teh zone is less taxing and I really don’t see why people even bother bringing up the short bench as a disadvantage. These are young kids in excellent condition. They’ll be fine.
This is totally true. Six is cutting it close but 7 is fine.

SwatLakeCityParticipant@Dhamp2, love the new slogan. Funny. Its now “the law” that you are the greatest mind, although I still think you are bragging. Brandon Triche does not start at PG, they use Andy Rautins.
I am very high on the orange. I love Wes Johnson, and they play great zone defense. Kris is also becoming something. But i was very surprised that G’town beat them in the Big east tourney. I was expecting another blowout win for the orange, just like what happened in the regular season. I guess G’town really wanted to make up for those 2 losses and show the Big East who they are.
But I still don’t think the orange are overrated. Now that they are out, they have alot of time to practice and polish their flaws. Maybe Oanoku can heal from his recent injury thanks to that game. (I hope he is okay, it did not look too good.)
I will soon be creating a topic which I think could get very interesting. Now that the Orange are out will Wes Johson return next year, to help show the Big East, and the NCAA that the orange are for real, cuz honestly their play as of late is not looking too good.

j1232eParticipantno way he returns, he is a top 7 pick, the future is bright with this young one. The only way he returns is a complete upset in the madness and he has an awfull taste in his mouth!

Dhamp2Participantdwilljazz8…..Good looking on the shout out…Brandon Triche is the starting point guard, but I think you mean the offense runs through Rautins as a shooting point guard. I can go with that a little. I prefer to say he’s a passing shooting guard with a great three-point shot.
@Quincey…you did say I would jinx them…….I haven’t..It’s hard to beat any team three times. Coach B said it best yesterday. The Big East knows each other very well right now. Let’s play someone not in our conference.
Dhamp2….I have written it and now it is law.
