For all the educated b-ball junkies on this site.. if you were to pick 1 player from the 2013-2015 draft, which 2nd rounder would you peg as a player to make a Draymond Green type leap within the next couple seasons? To define the type of leap I’m describing, a player that could contend for an All-NBA selection or win either the MIP or DPOY award within the next 2 seasons. A player who impacts the W/L’s column on a playoff team. For example, a guy like Nikola Jokic jumps out as a possible player for this topic.

Draymond’s rise to prominance is super unique and I thought it would be fun to think about other players that could follow a similar path from recent drafts.

Any player would need to have an off-the-charts work ethic and a particular psychological make-up to experience the type of improvement that Green has.

My favourite second rounders are Jokic (by far) and Jordan Mickey.

It’s rare for a 2nd Rounder to get signifigant playing time……. But in terms of a sleeper who is really developing……. I luv Alan Crabbe in Portland……. 2nd Rounder in 2013……. He barely slipped out of the 1st round…… He’s got excellent size for a 2-guard…… a Sweet stroke….. He’s mature, unselfish & he does Not need to be ball dominant to be effective……

I also like Clarkson for the Lakers….. Clarkson has really established himself as a Legit NBA scorer this year & showed that his Rookie year was no fluke……. I realize he isn’t great on defense…… but he’s got nice size as well for a combo guard….. He has really emerged a as leader….. his PPG & his 3pt FG% have both increased substantially in year 2…….

And another guy I like a lot…… he will Never become a Star but I absolutely Luv his Defensive ability & he can score & rebound a little bit as well is Jermi Grant in Phila….. If you could shrink Nerlens Noel about 4 inches & put him at SF you have Jerami Grant……. Grant has Crazy length / Wing Span & he is an explosive leaper…… He’s got great feet too on defense & he looks like a spider out there….. & you can put him on just about anyone from Pg, SG or SF as a lock down defender……I can see that kid becoming a Bruce Bowen type…..

Rodney hood (23rd in 2014) and rudy gobert( 27th in 2013) are both guys I could see greatly outperforming their draft position. As far as either having a draymond green type overall impact though, I don’t know.

Maybe not the star that Green is but I like the pick and I always think that if you have a second round pick and a championship winning point guard is on the board you can’t go wron. You are generally going to get a play with playmaking ability and leadership.

There’s no one who compares to him throughout history. The way he plays point center is truly revolutionary.

Hard to find a 2nd rounder who will become a top 20 NBA player. Infact it is nearly impossibile. Dray is so unique, they run a pick and roll where Curry sets the screen for him. It is one of the best plays I have ever seen for a mismatch play.

Not sure what year IT was drafted but he was the last pick of the draft. He can get to the hole and finish at an elite level. Still underrated even though he was an all star this year.

One of the Denver bigs is a good choice, but I will try Dwight Powell.

    Another choice, Norman Powell.

For the "last Draymond", maybe Chandler Parsons.

Top 2nd round sleepers from past few drafts who have solid All-Star potential.
    2013 – Allen Crabbe
    2014 – N. Jokic
    2015 – Norman Powell

With regards to who was the last Draymond Green, I would say that would either be Manu Ginobilli or Gilbert Arenas.

With regards to upcoming 2016 draft, potential 2nd round sleepers are:
    Gary Payton II
    Michael Gbinije

Paul Millsap has been one of the best 2nd round guys of recent years but is a totally different skillset to Draymond Green.

Jokic is already a monster, as of right now i would much rather have him than Draymond because  of his out of this world vision and hes a point center YES A POINT CENTER. Jokic will be a superstar but anyway, Norman Powell is a monster. He is a three and d player and is also a very good athlete, i dont see many holes in his game.
