Yan111ParticipantBoth players have abilities to become next Magic and Bird but we are in 2010 so I just think that both will be Wall and Barnes and that’s all we want.

omphalosParticipantThere will never be another Bird. Even if someone had those sorts of skills, his level of athleticism would cause him to be overlooked in the modern game. When was the last time a white dude was among the best in the league?

the_shamwow_guyParticipant2007 the year Dirk won MVP…. But i think this is something i thought of Kevin Durant is little like the Larry Bird. You can make the argument his more athletic then Bird but if your comparing lebron to magic you kinda gotta think the same thing

khaled_a_dParticipantand Bird didn’t have Dirk size
that said I think what separate Bird with Durant and Dirk is his passing
Durant,Dirk&Bird all are great shooter but neither Dirk nor KD are as good passer as Birdthat will never be a new Bird/MJ/Magic/Shaq/Kobe etc simply b/c if a player reached that level then he has built his own legacy and players will be compared to him

dipt1982ParticipantThere will never be another Jordan, Bird, Magic, Kobe or Shaq…these players were ridiculous, and Kobe is still growing his own legacy. People have skewed views of Kobe thanks to the media always comparing him to MJ. Kobe is his own player, whether you like him or not, you gotta respect his game.
Too may people try to compare players nowadays, and if they don’t live up to comparisons, well people just think they’re not that good. Everybody plays different, with their own style. It just gets tiring listening to the media try and compare players so much. It puts too high of expectations on them. In the 90’s were people comparing Jordan to Elgin Baylor? Or anyone for that matter? No, because the media wasn’t as blown up as it is now. I just wish we viewed basketball as it was viewed back then…oh well, things change.
