In my mind, the Phoenix Suns bench is the best in the NBA.  The depth of the bench has gotten even better with the summer signings of Josh Childress and Hakim Warrick.  If you look at the second unit they have, it wouldnt even do too bad as a starting 5.

    Starters:

    pg: Nash

    sg: J. Richardson

    sf: Grant Hill

pf: Hedo Turkoglu (can play pretty much anywhere)

    c: R. Lopez

    Bench Rotation:

    pg: Dragic

    sg: Childress/Dudly

    sf: Dudley/Childress

    pf: Hakim Warrick

    c: Channing Frye

There are also a few guys like Earl Clark who should work his way into the rotation eventually (if not already) Gani Lawal who led the Suns in scoring, rebounding, and blocks per game in Vegas in the summer league, and veteran Chucky Atkins who can also play some minutes here or there.  The depth is just outstanding and the team chemistry should be good as well.

Which team do you think has the best bench?

I think they have a solid bench, but not the best. I think that it has to go to Boston. Once Perkins is back, they will have:

    Delonte West/Nate Robinson

    Marquis Daniels/Avery Bradley

    Tony Gaffney/Luke Harangody(?)

    Jermaine O’Neal/Glen "Big Baby" Davis

    Shaq/Semih Erdin

I’m pretty sure that is a stacked bench. There are some very good ones though, but I have to give it to the Celtics

It’s a decent bench, but not the best in the NBA. Off the top of my head, Dallas, Boston and LA have better benches.

    In no particular order

    Dallas Bench:

Beaubois, Terry,  Jones, Stevenson, Haywood, JJ Barea, Ian Mahinmi, Alexis Ajinca

    Boston Bench:

Delonte West, Marquis Daniels, Avery Bradley, Glen Davis, Jermaine O’Neal, Shaq, Nate Robinson, Von Wafer

    Lakers bench:

Lamar Odom, Steve Blake, Matt Barnes, Shannon Brown, Theo Ratliff, Devin Ebanks, Derrick Caracter, Sasha Vujacic

I suppose you’re a little biased with the name "PhxSuns6" and claiming that the Suns are the best, but it’s a decent bench.

Yup I am biased, because ive seen them use their bench for years, and I know that Alvin Gentry uses it to the max.  To be honest, they wouldnt have won in the playoffs last year without their bench, and all they did was improve it.  Just watch, 6 months from now that bench will be the most productive in the nba.  I do agree however that the benches you listed are very good too (obviously).  Especially the celtics.

     brandon jennings/kenyon dooling

    john salmons/michael redd/CDR

    luc mbah a moute/carlos delfino/corey maggete

    larry sanders/john brockman/darrington hobson

    bogut/drew gooden

this team has many types of role players; whether or not they come off the bench:

    defensive stopper:mbah a moute

    energy bench player:larry sanders

    toughness/rebounder:brockman

possible 6th man of the year: corey maggete

    1-on-1 scorer: CDR

    glue man/shooter: delfino

i dont know what the starting lineup will be for this team but they have to  be mentioned as one of the best benches even though they are kind of thin at the pg position (i guess they signed earl boykins to a vet’s minimu)

I’m really biased, but Houston Rockets.
Kyle Lowry (Could’ve started for Cavs)
Courtney Lee/Jermaine Taylor (Started for Magic & Nets)
    Chase Budinger/Jared Jefferies
    Chuck Hayes/Patrick Patterson
    Brad Miller, Jordan Hill,

I feel like I’m missing someone..

The team is a big question mark, but look at it on paper.  Here is Washington’s bench

Kirk Hinrich – argueably the best backup point in the league

Al Thorton – a career 13 ppg player who is young and versitile

Nick Young – still only 25 and loads of potential

Yi Jianlian – 7 footer with inside outside game

Cardier Martin – Excellent 3 point marksman

Kevin Seraphin, Trevor Booker, and Hamday Ndiaye – 3 rookies who can provide shot blocking, toughness and rebounding down low.

Adam Morrison, Hilton Armstrong, Mardy Collins, Sean Marks, Lester Hudson – Booya

6-10 Washington is legit, those 5 could probably give Toronto’s top 5 a run for their money, plus those 3 rookies will all see time and give good minutes at the end of the rotation

    i would change it too

Anyone who watched the playoffs (in pheonix) knew the Suns had the best bench in the NBA last year, this year, I expect close to the same.

Celtics by far have the best bench.

    Nate Robinson
    Delonte West
    Marquis Daniels
    Jermaine O’neal
    Shaquille O’Neal

All those players ^ would definitely start on another NBA team in the league. Jeez, that team would beat the crap out of the Raptors lol

They acquired Childress and Warrick, but as a whole they are weaker at point guard/shooting guard with the loss of Barbosa.  They do have some quality players but as a unit other than Dragic (who is good) they really are going to miss the speed and ability to play the two guard positions that Barbosa offered the Suns.  They are not the same bench unit as they were last year.

I actually do think the suns have the best bench. They play great together, and lead comebacks during the playoffs against other teams starters at times. Individual talent, maybe they aren’t the absolute best, but its the best unit and I actually dont think its close either. The Lakers bench cost them games in the last playoffs at times, I dont know how you can say its the best. Its  between the Celtics and Suns, but I think the Suns have a more solid, balanced all around unit.

I always thought the mavs had the deepest bench, but the Celtics have so much size on their bench its crazy.

Celtics no doubt, best bench. Perkins gets in foul trouble, in comes Shaq lol. or Jermaine. every big man on their team could be on the starting lineup anywhere in the league.

    Starters:
    Jennings
    Salmons
    Maggette (or Mbah)
    Gooden
    Bogut

    Bench:
SF Mbah a Moute- Lockdown defense- can play against 3s or smaller 4s
PF Ilyasova- Length, rebounding and shooting
SG Delfino- Solid all-around, great corner 3pt shooter
SG CDR- Solid scorer with good size
PF Larry Sanders- Amazing athlete and length, will provide energy
PG Dooling- Wont give as much offense as ridnour but is a bigger more physical PG
PF Brockman- Banger, great rebounder and energy
PG Boykins- 3rd PG not a bad option to provide instant offense
Redd has played his last game for MIL and Hobson and Gallon are DLeaguers this year

Only real weakness is a true backup center. Gooden Sanders and Brockman will all contribute there for now. Hopefully they can use Redd’s expiring $18M contract to get a banger down low by the trade deadline. They are also said to be one of the teams in the running for Eric Dampier. Add him to the mix and this is the most complete bench in the league

from a non biased standpoint, i think the magic have the best bench:

    chris duhon

    jj redick

    mikael pietrus

    brandon bass

    ryan andersen

    marcin gortat

    jason williams

Lou Williams (your super athletic scoring machine combo guard)

    Evan Turner (Mr. Versatility)

Jason Kapono (your token white guy who can shoot 3’s)

Andres Nocioni (your token foreigner who can play lock down gritty defense on any position)

Mo Speights (your athletic PF/C who can score inside outside, despite his size, strength and leaping ability its usually outside)

Can’t get any love? You got a little bit of everything.  But that bench can beat the Magic bench perez they just can.

But my serious answer is in order:

    1. Celtics (Their bench could fight for a playoff spot)

    2. Rockets ( Kyle Lowry is and has always been better then Mike Conley they should of traded Conley when he still had value and kept Lowry)

    3. Bucks (they got so many good wings, and whats up with Redd is he done?  Or still hurt?)

    4. Suns (really like that bench I hope Warrick starts tho and Hedo plays sf if not I hope Childress starts)

    5. Wizards (The Wiz are deep, who would of thought?  Hinrich, N. Young, Al Thornton, Yi Jianlin, Hilton Armstrong are fighting with the Celtics bench for a playoffs spot.  I think the Wiz win.)

the celtics bench is solid but no way they could fight for a playoff spot. delonte west, nate robinson, tony gaffney, glen davis and jermiane oneal with shaq avery bradley and marquis daniels as the 6th men wouldnt sniff 20 wins.

Can’t believe no one mentioned Portland…Bayless, Rudy(I know he’s a crybaby, but the guy can get buckets), Wes Matthwes, Babbit, Oden, Pryzbilla, Pendergraph, Cunningham, Elliot Williams & Armon Johnson are both ultra talented rookies as well. They’re so deep Patty Mills can’t even make the team.

i notice a few people disagree with me that the celtics bench could fight for a playoff spot. Tell me how many teams are worse then this roster:

    pg-delonte west
    sg-nate robinson
    sf-tony gaffney
    pf-glen davis
    c-shaquille oneal

bench: avery bradley, marquis daniels, jermaine oneal, von wafer, semih erden, luke harangody

Is that squad better then then the wolves, raptors, cavs, pistons, kings, nets etc…

ILuvDisGame- Yes, the thunder do have a good bench, all young and very good, but I can’t see them as the best bench. They have A LOT of talent off the bench, and a lot of depth. I don’t really see a guy who isn’t good on their roster, but the Celtics have 2 former all stars, a dunk contest winner who is really good, 2 really good 6th men from their respected teams (Delonte and Big Baby), and 3 above average rookies imo. It has to be them, but as everyone knows, the Thunder are going to be great in the next couple years with that lineup (maybe without mo pete)

if you don’t realize that the celtics have the best bench in the league, you really don’t know basketball.

I saw that someone mentioned portlands bench? Half of them are rookies or second year players, so i don’t know what’s up with that.

The celtics have a STARTER coming off the bench for EACH POSITION, please someone just match up a bench that’s better than theirs.

    Nate Robinson
    Delonte West
    Marquis Daniels
    Jermaine O’neal
    Shaquille O’neal.

These guys aren’t even playing 25min a game. 15-20 max, and you don’t think that they’ll make the most of out it against other benches? This is a joke, what 5 man bench can match up with this team’s bench. They have interior defense, rebounding, slashing, and 3pt shooting.

    lakers vs celtics bench

pg- delonte west vs steve blake (this is close but i would take blake)
sg-nate robinson vs shannon brown (nate takes this one)
sf-marquis daniels vs matt barnes (matt takes this one)
pf-jermaine oneal vs lamar odom (lamar for sure)
c-shaq oneal vs theo ratliff (shaq for sure)

Celtics might have the better bench, buts its not nearly as lopsided and above everyone else as some of you claim. I dont thnk either the lakers or celtics have the best bench.

Steve Blake over Delonte West?! haha no. I’d take West any day. He plays WAY better D than Blake, can create his own shot, AND can post up for a guard. Blake can distribute some and can shoot. Again, West easily wins.

Phoenix have a very experienced bench, Houston have a good mix on their bench, Detroit have a nice bench but really Gordon and Charlie V should be starters on their salary. I’ll throw in the Spurs with Ginobi, Anderson, Diceman, Blair and Bonner or Splitter as a good deep bench with a nice mix of youth and experience.

Id almost feeld good with this as an nba team lol.

Greg Oden (assuming Camby starts) /Joel Pryzbilla ( he could start on 5, or 6, teams and is a backup center on the Blazers backup team)

Dante Cunningham ( I know its just preseason but hes outplayed anyone not names Wesley)/ Jeff Pendergraph (solid hustle player)

Wesley Matthews (so far preseason mvp. Great sixth man)/ Luke Babbit (Next Dirk Nowitzki lol, bur seriously hes a very decent player)

Rudy Fernandez (would be an okay starter in the league but the way Matthews is playing i cant see him playing any minutes really)/ Elliot Williams (decent prospect, good slasher, and defender.

Jerreyd Bayless ( When hes been given the opportunity hes shines like in the playoffs last year)/ Armon Johnson (I think theres only a half dozen points guards that play better defense than him right now, offense is shotty but at least he can run the offense.

Id take my luck against any other bench in the nba.
