Yes there are probably a few real life scrubs in the NBA but I think majority of these guys are all capable of putting up big numbers or being very solid players if given the right situation and opportunity.

Look at Kendall Marshall cut from the Suns because they already had Bledsoe/ Dragic and no he’s not better than either but now he’s averaging more assist than both.

Look at Gerald Green known for nothing but his hops and just a journeyman and now he’s having the best year of his career.

Lance Stephenson, many thought he was a scrub and would be out the L by now, and henow hes playing at All-Star level and going to get a huge check next year.

Then you have alot more guys like Bledsoe,Reggie Jackson, etc and not to mention all the guys from previous years who are now solidified starters.

It’s true the NBA is all about opportunity. One great example of this is when Zach Randolph won the Most Improved Player award in his 3rd year in the NBA after averaging about 8mpg in his first 2 seasons. He said "Most Improved I’ve always been this good I just finally got a chance to play." I’m not sure if that is the exact quote or not but he said something to that effect.

Life is all about opportunity, ideally putting in hard work and displaying all the good attributes (trustworthiness, dedication, coming up big when you are needed, etc.) gets you to a situation where you can have success (by your own definition) but sometimes it doesn’t quite work that way because their are not enough opportunities to go around.
