Say your a NBA players rep….The Biggest NBA players rep: Stu Jackson ( I believe)

You and David Stern are talking and he asked: What can we do to avoid a buyout? Give me your top 5 things to keep the NBA running in 2011? What are your 4 things?

    Here are mine:

    1. Abolish Teams to make it a 24 team league and cut the NBA season to 70 games

I know, I know. This will never happen. But, I believe the NBA should go back to 24 teams. The players on those teams should be bidden upon. I don’t know the main teams to be Abolished if this would happen but it would increase the performance of said teams. Also, by cutting the season from 82 games to 70- It’s cuts that ” rest period” or ” slump” teams can go to. Doing this IMO, makes every game count.

    2. Edit the Contracts and Dice the Cap

How many bad contracts have we seen since 2000? I believe that’s an issue with the cap. To me, The NBA should go to NFL style. One player should be your Franchise player, Tag him and only his contract should be the contract that goes over the cap. Also, the cap should not be going up, going down every year. To me- Set the Cap at 80 million with the Max “Franchise” Tag and a 3 million injury exception.

What are yours? I stopped at 2 but named 4 things…

I think you keep team as is but limit the game to 70 or so.

There needs to be a better d league though so you don’t have young talent rotting on the bench.

They should set up a penalty for team that appear to be tanking but I don’t know how they would do this though.

They should should only allow one signed max contract per team I guess as the franchise guy. I don’t want to see a hard cap.

If you could trade for a max contract I guess you take that. I also would like all contracts to have team options for the last year and no contracts to be longer than 5 years.

Also the rookie contracts need to be down to 2 years and one qualifying and after that the player is a free agent. None of that unrestricted stuff. Teams should not be holding players hostage.

If a strike does happen, the nba will give in and pay the players after about 2 months of no nba.

I do kinda like the idea of shortening the season but the nba is a business so no owner would agree to do that.
