One of my worst threads when i compared DHoward to AMourning & said he is overrated. This dude is a Beast of a Player & he deserves to have @least 1 running mate that can play @ his level while he is in his prime. He has improved this year & should come in 2nd in the MVP voting IMO. The Magic have 4 or 5 inferior players with cap-killing deals.

Gill/Hedo/JNelson (i like his undersized gutso but he is a 2nd tier PG @best) & JJReidick is Steve Kerr type of player.

None of those contract are tradeable next year, i think the previous & Current GM has to take the blame for this one.

They passed on Kevin Martin/DLee/MEllis/ABlatche & DGranger

You put any one of those guys next to DHoward and he @least has a 2nd option that can do damage with him. Plug in one of these guys KMartin 20+ppg/DGranger 22+ppg/MEllis 25ppg along side Howard & you have the pieces to contend in the East.

& the Biggest gaffe of All 118mill to RLewis. This was a MOP(Master of Panic) move that will cripple this team for the next 2-3 years.

I hope Howard lands on a Chip contending Team in the Next Year or two.

That whole time he dropped 46 he looked frustrated. fact is he has alot of talent around him, talent doesnt win ball games, effort plus talent does. These guys need to get gritty if they wanna beat a Hawks team that is desperately trying to prove they can make an impact.

That’s what I’ve been trying to say. The Clippers should look to get him and pair him next to Blake Griffin and Eric Gordon. I know there is some package that is worthy of getting Dwight. They have the wolves pick next year. Which will for sure be a top 5 pick. So they have the pieces to get him, now they just need to get busy with the phones.

One thing is for sure though, If the Magic don’t make it past the second round then he is gone. He wants to win a championship and he has given the Magic plenty of oppurtunities to build around him but they have never capitalized on it. They have tried to but have failed. I’ll say it again, don’t get past the second round than Dwight had better start looking elsewhere because he won’t win a championship if he stays in Orlando. Just like Lebron, would never have won a championship if he had stayed in Cleveland.

"This dude is a Beast of a Player & he deserves to have @least 1 running mate that can play @ his level while he is in his prime"

No, he doesnt deserve someone who can play at his level in his prime, that just wouldnt be fair. Dwight Howard is a franchise player and arguably one of the best franchise corner stones in the league. I think you meant to say he deserves good players around him. If you have 2 players of Dwight Howards caliber in their prime then you probably have at least 2 of the top 5 players in the NBA if not the best two. Dwight Howard isnt in his prime yet which is scary. A player to the caliber of D Howard is enough to be the number one guy on his team they just need to build a better team around him. Because the team hes got right now is garbage. Nelson is fine and they have a few good players off the bench, but outside of that he needs a lot more help. Not a player as good as himself, not everyone gets the luxery Lebron has and gets to play with a top tier star, if they did I feel bad for teams like my Charlotte Bobcats because then the NBA would be so top heavy it wouldnt even be worth watching the bottom half of the league.

And now for my take on Dwight Howards Career. Does anyone see anybody being able to take the defensive player of the year honor from this guy within the next 5 years? I know theres voter fatigue, but I think Dwight Howard is going to be the best defensive player in this generation of players every year. Just like how Jordan should of won MVP a lot more than he did, I feel like Howard will get shafted from this award many times probably from a guard once the voter fatigue kicks in. I think he will end up with the most Defensive player of the year awards in NBA history, and could possibly go down as the best defensive player ever. He still needs to be consistent for a lot more years, but unless this kid Bismack Biyombo becomes a Taller Ben Wallace I dont see anyone in the forseeable future overtaking Dwight For this honor.

"…and could possibly go down as the best defensive player ever."

    That would be Bill Russell.

He probably meant of this era or players he has seen.  Tough to compare one era to another.  For example, it was cooler for Russell to either catch the ball or bat it back into play to trigger a potential fast break, where as Dwight is all over SC for smacking the ball 5 rows deep into section 110.

Yea man I wasn’t alive to watch Russell play and I doubt many people on here were old enough to remember.   To me comparing players from different eras is just dumb. The game has changed so much since then its almost a different game entirely. Different skill sets were used during different eras, such as when the dunk was banned for a year or however long it was banned. I dont think you can compare players like Jerry West to guards from today. Many people believe he wouldn’t be nearly as effective if he played in this era with much better athletes. Whether thats true or not shouldn’t take away from a players greatness because those guys were the originals. I just believe as time goes on, our sports and our athletes are becoming more talented and overall better athletes.

I dont know much about how dominant Russell was all I know is he is a great person and was one of the few guys who could keep Wilt from not absolutely making a mockery of the other team. But Howard can be the dominant defensive player of this generation of players, and I dont think you can make a great argument comparing players from different generations because unless you played in both era’s its hard to tell what would happen if Russell played today or if Howard played back then. So sorry about my Greatest defensive player of all time its an impossible argument to make.

So I will change my statement. If Howard can maintain himself as the best defensive player in the league (I dont see anyone in the near future challenging him for that). Then he should be in the conversation for being one of the best defenders the league has seen. I think at the end of his career he will be mentioned with players like Scottie Pippen, Gary Payton, and Russell and others but in terms of greatest I dont think its possible to choose because each player did it in their own way.

Well than say best defensive player of this era, not ever.

When you use the word ever, you are comparing different eras.

Everything used to be fun and games, now he seems sick of losing.

I wonder why the refs dont give him respect, like really Dwight may get less calls then any NBA player Ive ever watched, including Shaq. Maybe they dont want a player averaging 20 FTA per game.
