ZachAttackParticipantSo everyone, I’ve recently stated that I haven’t really met anyone outside of Utah who is a Jazz fan, so it got me wondering… What’s everybody on this forums opinion on the Jazz? Like, who is your favorite Jazz player or have you always liked or disliked the Jazz?
Basically, what are everyone’s opinions on the Jazz?

high floorParticipantI’ve mentioned on more than 1 occassion that Utah is my favorite rebuild. And I’m an avid Magic fan. I love Gobert, Favors, Hood, and believe Exum will come back strong after his unfortunate injury. Hayward is a top 6 or 7 wing player in the league, and Alec Burks could produce 18+ per game if given that type of opportunity. There’s a lot to like.
Also, Quin Snyder is one hell of a coach. How he got such a young group to be a top rated defensive team after the all star break is extremely impressive. Go ahead and add me to their small contingent of fans over 2000 miles away.

Robb_CParticipantGrowing up the Jazz were always little brother to my Chicago Bulls, but I’ve always had a ton of admiration for the franchise.. Jerry Sloan to me is the greatest coach to never win a title, if Jordan wasn’t in his way its hard to not assume the Jazz would had a couple rings..Sloans Flex offense though its not used as a primary offense due to its predictability.. Lots of teams run a ton of sets based on Sloans principles, Sets Like Horns,Zipper and Floppy all come from what makes the flex offense efficient..Watching Jerry Sloan coach taught me what I know about the game now, The Jazz are a great franchise with good fans.. I’ve always enjoyed watching them

Rip255My thoughts on the Jazz are accurate…since I’m the only other person on here that watches all their games.
- Exum is probably going to be the second best player from that draft, after Andrew Wiggins.
- Rudy Gobert is as good as Dikembe Mutumbo
- Utah will rarely get respect anywhere outside of Utah. Most under the radar team
- Prime Gordan Hayward and Derrick Favors are at "All-Star Snub" level, which is still pretty good.
- Rodney Hood was a steal in the draft. He’s going to be around a long time.
- They are going to be the best defensive team in the league this season.
- Trey Burke sucks…and we’ll have to see how Alec Burks comes back from injury. PG is a very weak position
- Joe Ingles is way better than everyone thinks. Just cos he looks sleepy…but he’s a silent assassin. He’s a hippy that comes from a town called Happy Valley. Probably smokes fat doobies there in the off-season.
- I predict their record will be 55 and 27. They’re are being majorly snoozed on. Exum’s injury hurts…but he’s only 20 so he can only help so much.
And that’s basically it my young Utah friend.

SubZeroParticipantI love the Jazz. I hate that I love how all these teams are rebuilding (Jazz, T-Wolves, Magic, Bucks) cause I want to root for all of them. I think in 2 years at minimum, we’ll be talking about the Jazz as a perennial playoff team. I love Hayward, Exum, Favors, and Burks, I think Hood could win MIP, and Gobert win DPOY

GStatesince88ParticipantJazz are a great team to watch because they play fundamental team basketball. They play tough defense, and seem to keep most games close. They’re young and learning to gel, and will only improve as time goes on. Oldest player in the starting lineup is 25 (Hayward), so if the nucleus sticks together they will be a team to be reckoned with down the line.
The anchor and future of this team (in my eyes) is Rudy Gobert. The kid (only 23) has width, length, ability to grow into his frame, runs the floor, great coordination and athleticism for his size, solid footwork, and he’s an absolute menace defensively. I think that only D. Jordan is better on defense, maybe Marc Gasol.
With Exum healthy, I think they would have almost had a lock on the 7th or 8th seed. Now I believe they will be fighting a close one for 8th. Exum did not take or make many shots in his starting role, but he did a fair job defensively and distributing to a well balanced team. Trey Burke is better suited off the bench, but I don’t believe there is another starting caliber PG on that roster.
Alec Burks is due back after a year long injury recovery, and that will soften the blow of the Exum loss. Burks has much to prove, because he has all of the tools to be an elite SG. Burks and Joe Engles at SG is a nice duo.
Gordan Hayward… still the leader of this team, still has potential to get better, still has more to prove. Very versatile on offense and defense, needs to consistently be that guy to go to for a bucket. His back up will need some more run, Rodney Hood provides a dangerous 3 point and scoring threat.
Derrick Favors is a good PF, but could refine his lost post scoring a bit and bring a bit more tenacity. His backup Trevor Booker while undersized, brings it all to the table. He fights, he boards, he slams, and he has a nice shooting touch (look for him to get a bit more run next year with small ball).
Team needs a better backup Center for Gobert, and they also could use a veteran PG to start and play around 20 minutes. Even without those additions, no reason why this team can’t make the playoffs.
Below are just opinions
No particular order for first 7: Clippers, Spurs, Thunder, Rockets, Warriors, Grizzlies, Pelicans.
Teams that will be vying for 8: Mavericks, Jazz, Suns, Kings, Lakers (we will see)
Only two teams in the west that don’t stand a chance this year are Denver and Portland.

sitlbitoParticipantThe radio voice of the Jazz David Locke said something like,if Utah is still, next year, a top 3 defense(or even number 1),they WILL make the playoffs no doubt. He compared all the top 5 defensive teams of the last ten years and said only one top 5 defensive teams didn’t make the playoffs,Milwaukee in 2011(who were 30th offensively). If Utah has let’s say a not so bad offense, they’ll win 50 games to me. I love what’s happening in Utah, the excitement for next season seems to be there, and I definitly hope they’ll be title contenders in 3 years.

Toronto16ParticipantI love what the Jazz are doing, and I love the atmosphere of the home games. I’m super disappointed that Exum got hurt. Oh, and Matt Harpring sucks on the announce table.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI hated the jazz in the 90s, because they always used to give my Lakers fits in the playoffs. Then I would root for them to beat Chicago in the finals and they would always let me down. I enjoyed watching the d-will, boozer ak-47 teams they had in the late 00s. Those were some solid teams but were always one or 2 peices away from being true contenders.
As far as the current version I really like what they are building. Favors and gobert are an excellent frontcourt, and Hayward is one of the more underrated all-around players in the league. I think they need a stretch 4 who can give them a different look off the bench and we’ll see if lyles can become that player. The injury to exum really hurts, not so much because it hurts them this season, but because it could slow his overall development having to sit out a season. I don’t think Burke is really suited for a starting pg role but this team could absolutely challenge for a playoff spot if everything breaks right.

Memphis MadnessParticipantHuge Gobert fan. Agnostic about Favors. I like Gordon Hayward. Ingles is interesting. The jury is still out no Exum and Lyes (obviously). I have never been a fan of Trey Burke.
They could win 45 games, or they could relatively disappoint and win 35 games.
Keys for them will be getting the Gobert and Favors combo to maximize their talents and work well together. I would assume Lyles is the third big for them. I don’t see him as a 3.
The question mark for them is point guard. I don’t care if they settle on a point guard who tears it up, just get a guy who doesn’t get in the way…

ExumInfernoParticipantI liked to watch Eaton playing, and maybe Gobert will be just as big a roadblock on the way to the basket for other teams.
Jeff Malone and then Jeff Hornacek, they had some great shooting guards who could really shoot.
I don’t mind the Jazz, they often had good coaching and loyal fans and seemed to play the game the right way.
They have done a very good rebuild. But as is always talked about, the big free agents don’t want to go there. Not sure they can add a superstar, but they should be able to grow as a team and get into the playoffs this season. Dallas and Portland could be out, so Utah should be in if there are no more major injuries.
Also, it will be fun for everyone with someone called Tibor in the NBA.

Captain LParticipantI’ve been a Jazz fan ever since they got here from N O. Jordan beat us twice in the finals and we have had other real good competitive teams but I like what this team is showing, Hayward is very good and still improving, Favors showed marked improvement last tear, he should be even better this year, Gobert was a huge surprise last year and if he continues to improve at the rate he did last year he will be in the conversation as a top 5 center, Burks had shown he could score and he too should show improvement, I’m really high on Hood, he could be a major contributor, love what Exum showed ( mostly defense ) but potential is there, IMO Lyles will be a surprise contributor, love his versatile , all around game, smart player. All these young players are fun to watch and give us Jazz fans good reason to be upbeat and positive about the future. I expect this team to make the playoffs but the west is extremely tough so we shall see, they should still be exciting and fun to watch. Future is bright!!!!!!!
