SlickBouncePassParticipantGSW:
Wow, I know I know, only 1 game, but they went from one of my favorite teams to watch, to a jumpshooting team. They lost Bogut Ezeli and Speights, grinding tough guys, and signed the Europeanest of all big men in Zaza Pachulia, who is Charmin. I used to look at the TV guide to make sure I never missed a Texas game because I was in love with the skillset of Kevin Durant. But he is also, Soft. They have no power game. Even Draymond, who is tough, is a happy go lucky 3 point shooter at times who is perimeter oriented. So they lost Barnes, Barbosa, Bogut, Ezeli, Speights, and replaced with Durant and Pachulia. Durant is problematic because he takes their best two way player, Klay’s shots. There was no issue with Klay taking those Durant type shots last year. The only reason I feel GSW pulled the trigger on signing Durant was in the 4th quarter of a game, Durant can shoot over defenders and Curry, Klay, and Draymond weren’t able to do that, as Kevin Love was able to shut down Curry in that key moment, Durant is more adept at getting his own shot late in the game. But they are thin on the bench. Those rookies they have are good in the preseason and summer league, but you’re talking about playing the CAVS in the FINALS. The Cavs only got deeper, there is not a bad player on their roster. And they play so much TOUGHER. The Warriors are a jumpshooting squad with no grit. Losing Bogut and Ezeli only made you weaker, they lost NBA adult developed bodies and replaced with Pachulia and Durant and are relying on younger guys, sorry, 7 guys won’t win you a chip no matter how good Iggy and Livingston are, and David West is a very limited role player, I’d rather have Speights. You won’t beat the Cavs by adding another shooter and replcaing Bogut, Ezeli, and Speights, with Pachulia. Soft jumpshooting team.
’04 PISTONS vs ’17 WARRIORS
On that note, I am anti-hype. The Warriors do have 4 potential all-stars. They’re already proven themselves last year inferior to the men on the 72-winning Bulls squad that finished off the season with a ring. But with 4 all-stars, they remind me of another team…the 2004 Pistons.
Would you rather have: Curry, Thompson, Durant, and Draymond, and Pachulia and their role players…
or: Billups, Hamilton, Rasheed Wallace, and Ben Wallace and their role players.
Only because I like Toughness out of my squad, I recognize the lethal skill on the Warriors, but that Pistons team had machine-like chemistry. I remember when they came into the all-star game all 4 playing together and just smoked the Western conference. I like the toughness and grit of the 2004 Pistons. Its why I have a hard time rooting for this year’s Warriors.

SubZeroParticipantAs much as I’d love for the Warriors to flame out, I’m holding out on judgment this year. Just remember Lebron’s first season in Miami didn’t go as planned, then remember the 2 years after. If Lebron, Wade, and Bosh were as young as the guys on the Warriors are now, they might’ve stayed together and still been on top

MatosParticipantShots were not falling, but this goes to show the importance of the second unit. They had a killer first unit last year (cant get much more scoring out of your starters) and they had one of the best (if not the best) bench squad. This year, they added Durant to an already stacked starting unit and lost bench players. Durant takes some of Klay, Draymond, Steph’s shots. Not only does that lower their output, it also takes them out of their rhythm. Agree this is all off of one game but this was my thought going into the season anyway.
Also, Spurs young stars getting more experience + the fact that they got better up front (no offense to the All-Time great Tim Duncan). Adding Gasol & Lee was clutch.
