Sasha4MVPParticipantCrazy to look back on all those players back in their primes. It made me forget how much of a beast some of those guys were, like KG and Vinsanity.

aamir543Participant^I started watching in 2003, and from 2003 till 2005 was my favorite time period, just like yours.
Maybe it was because I had very little homework and IU was able to watch more games, but I really fell in love with the players of that generation, Young Kobe with athleticism, AI, T-Mac, C-Webb, KG, TimmyD, and even guys that like Gary Payton, who was at the end of his prime. I only got to watch MJ for about 2 or 3 games though.
I remember watching the Derek Fisher .4 second shot, and going crazy. Ah the days. The talent might be just as good now, bu the personalitites and game styles were much more interesting to watch.

llperezawesome vid. When you live in the present you sometimes overlook how special these guys are or you get caught up in your own team and rooting interest, but when all these greats are gone, we will look back and appreciate them for what they brought to the game of basketball.

aamir543ParticipantFor some reason, I feel like some of those players were really rare breeds. KG was an Athletic point Foward that Played suffocating D, blocked shots, scored, grabbed boards, and ran the point and got you 5-6 dimes a game. C-Webb also ran some point, Peja had the purest stroke and played really unorthodoxy, Duncan was in the post more, Kobe was at the rim more and had more of those stepback fadeaways opposed to the turnaround fadeaway. I just saw a Vince Carter slam on the top 10, that was nothing like what he used to do. Even Lebron was more excitng and fun to watch. And T-Mac was a 6-9 shooting guard that also played point. He was great with the Magic. And Steve Francis got 7 rebounds one seasons, Westbrook reminds me a bit of him.

sheltwon3ParticipantI started watching like the 93=94 season but really became a huge fan when Penny was a rookie and up. Penny Hardaway used to be my favorite player. I would model a lot of my game after him.

db24kb24ParticipantSpreewell and the Knicks lost to the Spurs in the finals in 99′. I picked #8 on my youth bball team when i was 10 to be like Spreewell, then the next year I realized Kobe wore # 8 as well and i’ve been in love ever since.
wow i remember doug christie N Kobe goin at it. Classic games. i hated doug’s little salute that he did EVERY time he did something right.
Loved this era

Mr. 19134ParticipantI started watching basketball in the 90’s and started watching every game when the Sixers drafted Allen Iverson. Watching Allen Iverson play basketball was a rush unlike anything I’ve experienced since. Sometime it didn’t even matter what the score was all that mattered was A.I. had the ball in his hands, and whoever stupid enough to try and play defense was going to get embaressed. Iverson didn’t just try to score, he tried to put you too shame. I remenber watching that game against the Wizards where he crossed Antonio Daniels twice, once that put him on his @$$, and the 2nd time while he was still on his @$$ trying to get up. I still think that might of been the best cross up ever. The year he carried the Sixers to the finals was legendary because in the East the Sixers went up against the Reggie Miller pacers. Then The Vince Carter Raptors where Iverson and Vince were scoring 50 in playoff games like it summer league. I still think that series has the most 50 point games and Iverson has the most in a series from that one. Then the Ray Allen, Sam Cassell, Glen Robinson Bucks which in it’s day was called the Big 3. Then the Shaq and Kobe Lakers. The teams were so great filled with so many stars and clutch players.
The best part about the 90’s and the early 2000’s was that the players use to play for BLOOD not the WHISTLE.

WeavvvParticipantRidiculously awesome montage. Definitely brings back memories. It’s missing a little JailBlazer feel though. Maybe some Rasheed bits, getting T’d up in LA, or Sabonis being slow but beast-life, or even some Zach Randolph moments. Haha.

bennydabullParticipantI almost cried. Miss the old days. Video is flawless except it could’ve included the old Portland Jailblazers team too.

Sasha4MVPParticipantI’ll always remember the Lakers-Kings rivalry from that era. Since I wasn’t around for the 80s rivalry between the Celtics and Lakers, the Kings-Lakers rivalry always resonates more with me than the Celtics.
I’ll always remember Mike Bibby coming off those pick and rolls and knocking down the jumper….and Bobby Jackson coming off the bench and torching the Lakers…..and Vlade flopping all the time….and Chris Webber when he used to be unstoppable in the post. Not to mention Kobe getting food poisoning in a sacramento hotel and Shaq calling them the Queens. Oh and who could forget Robert Horry’s dagger that saved the Lakers’ season. And my least favorite thing….those damn cow bells
Man those were the days when we had some pretty heated rivalries. Everyone is friends with one another these days. It makes me miss those days.

frogmanParticipantMan I loved KG back then. Wish he never went to Boston lol. I love how intense he is. And Vince Carter was soooo entertaining. Think we will be waiting a long time before someone brings out the dunks that he could in a game (and dunk contest)

[Edit: and that embed of the video didn’t work. Well it is on youtube just search for Iverson and Daniels]

aamir543ParticipantLooking back, I realize that the Lakers didn’t have much outside of Kobe and Shaq. They had players, shooters, and defenders that fit the triangle offense.
The Spurs were also built and coached very, very well. Their drafting was phenomenal, and they surround Duncan and Robinson with the perfect players.
Detroit was loaded, they had a very, very good run, but unfortunatly they only got one tittle out of it. For some reason teams aren’t as stacked as they were back then.
