Mr.Knick 32ParticipantWhen your a superstar player, when do you know what the end is?
Do you think when a superstar player (Like Tim Duncan) truly know when it’s time to wrap it up and leave?
Why do you think guys like Gary Payton, Karl Malone and other greats in the 70’s and 80’s stayed on for years trying to play when they knew it was over? Was it for the paycheck?
Who do you think the End is for in the NBA soon?

Mr. 19134ParticipantThe End is coming fast for Kobe he is in a race against Father Time. I think his window of dominance only has 2 years left and Pau is going to surpass Kobe as the most productive Laker.

billykParticipantTMac is NOT a Hall of Famer… He put together a few of great seasons, but injuries hurt (no pun intended) his chances of making the Hall of Fame…

llperezkobe has been playing great to start the season. I believe he has every intention of finishing his current 4 year deal so no need to sit around waiting for the end quite yet.

WizardofOzParticipantWhy does everybody doubt Kobe? A lot of people said that this is the season that he would start to decline and his production would go down, but he’s still rolling. He has started the season great and people still doubt him? The end of Kobe hasn’t come yet and won’t come anytime soon. I think he will play out his current cotract and will age gracefully just like Michael did.
There was an interview that came on last night during the GS @ LA game at halftime, and Ahmad Rashad was interviewing Kobe, and Ahmad Rashad asked him "A lot of people are saying that this is the year you might decline and this is the year we might see the fall of Kobe. How do you feel about that?" And Kobe said "I laugh." Kobe said a bunch of other stuff questioning why people think that but I forgot what he said. If you saw the halftime show, then you saw it.

RUDEBOY_Participanti’ve heard guys that cast votes for the hall of fame, say they’d cast votes for tmac & carter but not on the 1st ballot..
if Alex English & Adrian Dantley got in..Both of those guys were ballhogs…Carter and McGrady were better players than them…

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantNash and Kidd look like they can run a few more years Too…T-Mac and Vince should go in the Hall but not first Ballot…I really think their should be a seperate wing for players Like Them (Great Numbers/Bad Injuries/Hall of Fame Talent)…I think you can fit Penny and Grant Hill in this catergory…Also Duncan and Garnett probally retire together in 3 or 4 years…KG came out in High School, TD can just play Center in an slow tempo Spurs system…
AI better get into the Hall of Fame 1st time he comes up for it…I can’t wait to hear him Talk about Practice…

RUDEBOY_Participantthe Collins Twins need to retire….They’ve been in the league since the ABA-NBA Merger..and i doubt if they have scored 30 points combined for their entire careers…

LeroyJenkinsParticipantThey arent superstars but I think Michael Finley, Theo Ratliff, Juwan Howard and Joe Smith should call it quits

ChrischiParticipantJoe Smith is a starter. And Theo Ratcliff is needed right now, why should they quit??
I don’t think any player has to quit just because he doesn’t play like he’s ten years younger. If he’s willing to take a small salary and play limited minutes, why not give them a chance to help a team win. If Timmy still wants to play in 5 years and is needed why shouldn’t he stay? Because his career average drops??? I think especially centers or guard geniuses like Kidd or Payton, or shooters like Finley can be still very useful even though they aren’t all-stars. If they like to play and accept their role why not keep them?
On the other hand something that really pisses me off are guys like AI or TMac who’re acting as if they’re still elite players (or VC in the 1/2 half of last season). Just accept it, if you’re unable, I understand why no real team wants to sign you.

Mr. 19134ParticipantChrischi you make a great point and its a point that we are seeing some players have trouble with understanding.
T-Mac on one hand seems to realize he is not a dominant scorer anymore and like Grant Hill is filling the savvy veteran role.
Allen Iverson can’t seem to comprehend how to play basketball if he can only average 14 points a game. He is so use to taking over games he doesn’t realize that 12 or 14 points a game off the bench also a very valuable player have.
Kobe Bryant I can’t see playing if he isn’t dominant. I don;t think Kobe will play if he can’t score 20 a game. But depending on how his body holds up he could score 20 a game like Jordan untill he is 40. But he has been in the league since he came from high school and has a lot of wear and tear on his body.
