I always thought too much was made of The Decision special in 2010. It seems tactless on paper but I feel like people rarely consider these circumstances:

    1. He’s the best bball player in the world in free Agency. The media wanted to make an even bigger deal about this than it was.
It was all that was on the news , so the whole “rubbing it in your old team’s face” argument is kind of weak. You mean to tell me his fans wouldnt have burned his jersey if he didn’t have a tv special? Somehow the “loyal fans of Cleveland” haven’t left me. Convinced.
    2. Along with this, because it was a huge deal , wouldnt he have needed to do a press conference anyway? Functionally , what’s the difference between that and the decision? Do you mean to tell me the biggest star in the world could just quietly handle that situation? I don’t think so, not in the 21st century.
    3. We all saw how immature Dan Gilbert and the Cleveland fans were. Eff em’

Honestly, speaking 100% truth, people were just using the decision TV special as a scapegoat on the numerous reasons they dislike LeBron. It gave over 6 million dollars for charity. It was great for the excitement, if he had just had someone report what team he was going to, Cav fans still would of burned his jersey and called him a traitor all of that. It wasn’t the way he handled it, people were just upset he left Cleveland. LeBron isn’t really easy to hate imho, he has camps for kids all over the country to help them with their basketball skills, he befriends nice young people with living conditions, donates millions to charity. People will use any ammunition the can on him, that’s life.

What are you talking about? He’s easy to hate, he says the most egotistical things I’ve ever seen. He told all fans that they have to go back to their miserable lives while he lives in luxury. he has a “the chosen one” tattoo. He and his teammates promote flopping and do it constantly and he called it “a good strategy”. He talked about winning 8 championships before even winning one (was a joke I guess but still is ridiculous to talk about numerous before getting 1.) It also would have generated 6 million in ad sales for a press conference instead. why not Just take that out of your 3 max contracts, heck cut them in half and donate that money to charity, no one needs 20 million dollars a year. It may be a good thing for charity but that doesn’t make it a good thing. You can’t possibly act like there is no reason to hate the guy and I don’t even hate him

That statement was directed towards people ruthlessly criticizing every aspect of his life, i mean for christ’s sake there are “LeBron’s a b*tch” shirts lol thats pretty extreme for someone who is a model citizen. Even then that statement is up for interpretation. I don’t know why everyone takes that “8 championships” quote so seriously, it was clearly a light hearted statement. EVERY nba superstar flops. Every single one of them complains to refs. As for the “chosen one” tattoo, people take that too literally, I know bums with a ‘chosen one’ tattoo, it could mean a variety of things; the chosen one to be successful, to lead your people out of the hood, to get money, to spread a good word etc. people just don’t understand or even try understand the role that Hip Hop culture plays, he’s from the hood. As for the max contract thing? LeBron is easily the most underpaid player in the NBA (and possibly sports in general) he sells out like all of his games because there is an entire industry built around hating LeBron-and then there are people that love him. before the “Decision” which-looking at my first post would’ve needed to to happen in some capacity no matter what. Add that in with his charitable works, cordialness with the media, camops for kids, etc. On paper he looks like one of the nicest people in the league. Compare him to Kobe, Jordan Charles barkley and Shaq and he looks like tim tebow.

It’s about perspective. But really the perspective you’re taking is completely bias. No way Lebron looks any better than Kobe, Jordan, Barkley, and Shaq. You can look at anything LBJ does in a different way and its all about perspective. He’s a controversial player, why don’t you stop being blinded by your love for the man to understand that?

Also, most NBA players do these things. It doesn’t make him special.

Because its not all about perspective some people have Weak arguments to support their “perspective”. I can at least make a good argument against most of lebron’s stream of criticism. MJ shaq and Kobe ? MJ punched his teammate, cheated on his wife, had a gambling problem and his pettiness is legendary (see hall of fame speech). Kobe cheated on his wife , he had a well publicized feud w. shaq where he spoke directly to the media calling shaq fat. He talks sh*t in interviews about old teammates and still throws people under the hs. Shaq participatedin the feud and isn’t too classy in victory. Barkley got into fights and spit on a little girl’s face. Now tell me, what has lebron done that is as inarguably bad as any of these? I’ll wait.

Okay, I’ll go . But seriously, you ride Lebron’s dick constantly in everyone of your posts.. you’re simply blinded by your love for him.
MJ – Yes he punched his teammate, but I don’t see what’s wrong with that.. Punch those who deserve it. Gambling problems have to do with psychology and the fact that you’d bring that up is ignorant. He was petty because he knew he was great, Lebron is the same way.
Kobe – I can’t really speak for him, but I do think he’s done well this year considering how horrible his team ended up being.
For Shaq I can’t comprehend what you said.
      I never mentioned Barkley.
I already gave you my reasons for Lebron, it was a long list.
      But here’s another one,
antics like this are f*cking ridiculous: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgbHF5qKXTo
Don’t give me the “it was a hard foul”, he exaggerated, then flopped, never hit his head but goes running off holding it like he was hit with a baseball bat.
Not all superstars flop and beg. And Lebron actually spends time complaining while the other team is already running down court. He expects calls all the time. I don’t even hate the guy, so not sure why you’re making me bag on him.

MJ- ok… No its not ok to punch your teammate thats ridiculous lebron would neverget away with that. And no being Petty is very shameful. MJ doesn’t understand humility. He used to humiliate his teammates in practice by heling at them.At his Hall of fame speech he criticized everyone who ever doubted him lmao thats crazy. I’m completely aware gambling is psychological. So are many other things. Pedophilia and rape are equally psychological.alcoholism is psychological. That has never stopped us from criticizing people who have them. You’re ignorant for not realizing that. MJ is a dick, and people have acknowledged that.
Kobe- lebron would be crucified if his team underperformed like the makers did. As far as personal things go, Kobe has given detailed interviews on how much his team sucked. Smush Parker says kobe refused to talk to him for weeks because he didn’t have enough accolades. How can you just ignore that, it’s so overt! Lebron would also never publicly feud like Kobe and shaq did, period.

Ok lebron is excessive with reactions to refs and complains. I’ll admit that is really lame.
But how can you argue that he is a worse person and more egotistical than any of these people? Ask yourself if you or anyone would let lebron off the hook if he had a gambling problem, fought his teammates, talked sh*t about his teammates.

It seems like I’m a dickrider but I’m just trying to balance the scale. At the end of the day no matter what you say, lebron lacks the personal flaws of a lot of NBA stars past and present. But he’s hate and scrutinized more than any.

Not a Heat nor Lebron fan but I loved the Decision. There typically isn’t anything to watch sports related in the first few weeks of July, it was entertaining in it’s shamelessness. I much rather have him do the Decision than just tweet it out.

Was it overstated? HELL YES. But it still was a dick move, to the Cleveland fans. To feel the need to go on national TV to make your decision for where you are going to play…that’s just not sports. That’s trying to make it into a media story, that’s opening the door for people to talk about it too much. I get the devil’s advocate because I don’t believe it makes LeBron a bad person, I just think that it was so damn unnecessary of him, and allowing it to elevate to that level and then picking to leave the Cavs for the Heat was just a slap in the face.

Did it justify Dan Gilbert acting like a petulant child? No.

Now that are true words. My biggest problem with the decision was that Bron acted like d!ck talking for like 40 mins about every and anything what no one wants to know just to inform the whole world where he wants to bring his talents to. What made it a complete disaster was the not one, not two thing in Miami. Can’t remember seeing a bunch of guys being so cocky. This was really disrespectful and showed me that even if Bron is or might be a nice guy inside, he loves being the centre of attention so much that he needs to rub it into the face of everyone how happy he is he left Cleveland.

This was the most unnecessary thing I’ve ever seen.
