I’m going to be honest, if you believe that Stephen Curry isn’t the best basketball player in the world right now then you’re naive and stupid.  And it’s even more impressive that he is the best player in the world because he’s not a 6’5” to 6’9” shooting guard or small forward that can play and defend three to four positions.  I know some of the LeBron worshippers will disagree with this because they’re stuck so far up LeBron’s butt, but they need to objectively look and realize the truth.  I’m not saying Stephen is more versatile, or is way better than LeBron because he’s not, LeBron is having another great season like we’re used to seeing from him.  But Curry has clearly outplayed LeBron this season in almost every way.  Statistically, Curry’s PER is far greater, PPG is far higher while he plays almost three less minutes per game than LeBron.  I know, three minutes, big deal, but we all know Curry has the ability to put in 8-15 points in 2-3 minutes so it could be a pretty significant deal with how many fourth quarters he doesn’t play.  But his team doesn’t need him to plays those extra minutes because they’re WINNING.  LeBron does have the edge in APG, RPG, and BPG but Curry is playing way more efficient and his shooting percentages from everywhere on the floor are significantly better than LeBron’s.  Whether Steph can maintain this efficiency and his level of play throughout the season or not will be determined, but if you disagree that RIGHT NOW, there is a better player in the world than Wardell Stephen Curry, please enlighten me.  Becuase with his increased level of play and MVP last year and his even better performance this year, I don’t know how you can confidently, say anyone is better.  Credit to LeBron for keeping up this high level of play, because Steph is now entering his prime while LeBron is trying to prolong his prime as long as possible, but Steph is finally nudging ahead.

Yeah I was one of those people that thought Durant was ahead of Curry still, but Steph really stepped it up this season and has left everyone in his dust.

LeBron won’t be winning any more MVPs barring a miracle, he’s very clearly on the downward trend – his FG% is dropping, his jumper isn’t falling and his great games are farther apart with every passing season.

It’ll be interesting to see how Lebron goes once his athleticism deteriorates a little more – I don’t know if he’ll be able to reinvent himself as a player without the athletic edge he’s enjoyed his whole career.

I believe Lebron is still the better ALL AROUND player.  He’s plays defense, rebounds, passes at an elite level and doesn’t have to score to be great.  Steph isn’t a great defender and probably never will be.  That doesn’t matter because he’s the best offensive player in the world and I don’t think it’s even close.  I’d still take Lebron for his overall floor game but Steph is doing things no other player in history has done before in terms of shooting and scoring the ball.

There is no doubt in my mind that Steph is the best player in the NBA. So far this year, it’s not even close. It’s honestly a little puzzling just how great he is.

So Stephen literally does 1 thing better than everybody else and lebron does everything else better. Also the point was made that Stephen can’t play or defend 3 or  4 different positions, if I don’t believe steph is the best player I don’t think I’m stupid. The reason people who can play and guard 3 or 4 positions are so special is because that can add more than just one attribute. Is steph a top 5 player just on shooting, fine I agree. Still if I feel as a regular guy that I can score on him then he needs to step his defense up.

The bofur/nonta Ellis trade was 1 of the best trades of the past decade in terms of what GS got. Iggy says I don’t want to have to score 20 points a game for my team to have a chance anymore and thus accepted a role in GS system. Is steph great hell yea, but he also has to all star/ elite defenders as rile players in Thompson & iggy, plus a past nba 3rd team gut in bogut, plus green.

If you as a regular guy think you can score on Curry, it doesn’t mean anything at all.

      zero.

LeBron has defenders like Shumpert, Thompson, Mozgov, Varejao, and Delly. So it’s not like they’re lacking defensive help or role players, because all of them plus J.R., Mo, and Jefferson are good role players.  It’s just that Golden State plays better together than the Cavs.  And Stephen isn’t better at just one thing.  Other than being far-and-away the superior shooting, I think he has better leadership skills and he makes his teammates around him better than LeBron does with his team.  I’m not saying LeBron is bad at either of those, but Curry is better at it than LeBron is.  And I feel like a big reason that Curry is better at making his teammates better than LeBron is simply becuase he is so likable.  Curry is always positive and raising his teammates self-esteem by the things he says and does which will allow for his team to trust him.  And another thing I believe Curry is better at than LeBron is knowing when to take over by scoring, or when to facilitate and find the open man.  A lot of the time LeBron defers too much when he should be looking to score.  He finally got it right when he tried taking over in the finals with his great performances, he just didn’t have enough fire power with him to overcome the Warriors.

And are you saying that Steph only contributes one attribute to his team just because he can’t guard 3 or more positions? Because it’s not like Steph is a bad defender at all, he’s not a DPOY candidate by any means, but he holds his own against any PG in the league.

Steph does more than “one thing better” than Lebron right now. Shooting, scoring and flat out playmaking/initiating the offense. There are points set up by Curry creating that doesn’t net Curry asts (because of teammates making extra passes) but make no mistake, Curry initiates much of GS offense.

And I do agree that Curry is top right now. Hard to argue that. But not agreeing doesn’t make someone “stupid or naïve”. But I will add this, I don’t see anyone in the NBA right now MORE EXCITING to watch than Curry. He has been freakin unreal.

It’s just how much Steph warps defenses who play entirely differently because of him.  They go nuts trying to defend his pick and rolls and entire defenses trail him when he’s off ball running off screens.  He’s not just better at scoring – he’s among the most impressive and important scorers I’ve ever seen.

no doubt curry is playing unbelievable right now.he’s in a system that is perfect for his talents.but i still say lebron is the better player..for those who say its curry.i have to ask 2 questions,’ would this curry been able to carry that 2007 cavs team to the final? or how many wins the current 76’ers would get if curry was on it?

Curry has the luxury of playing on one of the most stacked teams in nba history. This team till its 8th man is stacked with high draft picks and unique abilities a very conjusive team.

Right now, and for roughly the past 7-8 years, lebron is the best foundational piece in the NBA. Just by adding him to pretty much any roster in the league (maybe besides Philadelphia) you are almost instantly looking at a team that will probably win 50+ games and be in contention. Not sure you could say the same about curry. If you give me one player in the league to build a team around just for this season, I’m taking lebron without a second thought.

However, if we are just talking about this season so far, curry has clearly been the best player in the league.

As Bill Simmons said, per 36 min, there is only 1 person who is averaging more ppg than Curry.

And that was Wilt during his 50 ppg season.

To me, Curry is the best player today

Here’s my simple but wierd explanation

LBJ = James on video games is better than the real life LBJ,

LBJ onb video games can takover games, slash to the basket, dunk on people, while real LBJ is not getting to the lane and finishing like the video game LBJ

Curry = Steph is better in real life than video games, why?

in real life he hits long 3pts shot and half court shots regularly in a nba game, the video game curry on practice can not hit long 3pt bombs and half court shot that the real life curry hits on a real game.

That’s a freaking wierd how good is curry this season. LOL

Lebron is the better playmaker, passer, rebounder, defender, while Curry is the better scorer. But it’s funny, do you people not realize curry is playing for 1 of the best team ever? Btw Lebron was much better than Curry in the finals last year, are you forgetting the dude couldn’t win finals mvp lol? BTW Curry 27 years old Lebron still 30.. I’d be interested to see what Curry would do on a team that is not completely stacked on every position and that every1 can bail him out defensively and allow him to gamble every defensive posession

Igoudala is the better playmaker, rebounder, passer and defender than Durant (or Harden).   Igoudala was even finals MVP n beat Harden’s team. He’s clearly better then, right?  You all have Kawhi n Butler above Harden for the same reason right?

    Logical fallacies are fun.

And Steph averages 32 on significantly better true shooting.  6 extra ppg, more than the difference between Kawhai or Butler and Harden.  Even more pronounced when you normalize for minutes.
