Celtics3178ParticipantThe Celtics are going to be absolutely terrifying next year. Everyone keeps talking about GS but if healthy the Celtics have the easiest chance at winning it all. They have young guys still improving plus all stars. The path to the finals is a walk. Unlike GS who has the rockets and Lebron. We have a young philly team that lost last year without are best two players. They have 2 all stars 2 solid players in Covington and Saric. Everyone else flat out sucks they have shooters that can’t play D. Kyrie Rozier jaylen are to fast for JJ and Korver. Every time they go to whoever is guarding them and they either got the shot they wanted or the help d left someone wide open.
Kyrie Irving is the best guard in the east and a top 10 in the world.
Jaylen Brown is a lot better then anyone expected. He’s already a solid 2 way player and statistically one of the best defenders in the nba. He’s young athletic and only getting better.
Gordon Heyward is a lights out shooter and a good defender he’s a legit all star.
Jayson Tatum is light years ahead of schedule. He can score from anywhere and his defense and rebounding is nba level
Al Horford is the glue guy. He does all the little things can pass defend rebound and score he hits picks shots when you need him
The Celtics bench is so deep. Rozier proves he’s a legit nba starter. He was lighting up first units now he’s going to light up second units. Marcus Smart is a great defender he’s tough and a guy every team needs. Marcus Morris is tough can defend and score Baynes added that 3 point shot to his game and is a beast in the paint.

BeastMode716ParticipantAnd as a Lakers fan it absolutely KILLS me to admit that lol
What I really like about Boston – aside from that incredible starting 5 is their bench
That bench will feature Smart, Rozier, Morris, Theil & Aaron Baynes – those 5 would be a Better starting 5 than the botton 6 non playoff teams in the East feature
And the Bench is HUGE b/c teams w/ Championship aspirations Must have a strong bench so they can keep their starters in the low 30’s in Minutes Per Game in the Regular season to preserve the health of their starters
And w/ Hayward returning from a Gruesome injury & Kyrie who has had chronic knee issues & Al Horford who is approaching 33.
W/ great Defense they play & the 10 deep rotation the Celtics may or may not beat out the Raptors for the #1 seed but they will be fresh & ready to go when the playoffs start

HitsterParticipantEveryone is talking about how loaded the West is but only one team from there can make the Finals so do teams out East concentrate on their own Conference and not worry about the West or do they try and build a roster to match the best out West.
Boston despite being very successful in the Danny Ainge era haven’t won the title since 2008 or been to a final since 2010. So certainly getting back to the Finals would be a legit target for them this season.
With Hayward and Kyrie fit you have an All Star Level and a top 10 NBA player returning. They retained their key FAs in Smart and Baynes so have great depth and the minutes of the guys across the team can be managed.

OhCanada-ParticipantTrade shouldve been banned. It wouldve been banned if it were any team aside from Celtics, Lakers, Knicks, Warriors (nowadays) trading with Brooklyn.

cohenbc1ParticipantKudos to Ainge for not tinkering, and bringing back the whole team intact. (Actually I just checked, and they waived Abdul Nader, and Shane Larkin and Greg Monroe remain unrestricted free agents. But they still have two unfilled roster spots.)
And good move not trading Brown for Kawhi. If Kawhi ends up staying in Toronto, Ainge will probably face some criticism for that. But Brown is six years younger than Kawhi, and a better player at age 21 than Kawhi was. Ainge is smart to recognize that he already has the team he wants. The only thing they need now is more experience for the younger guys and time to develop chemistry when they finally have all their players healthy.

BeastMode716ParticipantHe recognized Early that he would need a full scale Rebuild & made the Nets trade for Pierce & Garnette in exchange for the 3 – 1st round picks
Today fans & media make it sound like Billy King was brain damamged & Anyone could have made that Trade it’s just Not true – that trade was a MASSIVE risk for Boston
In the 2 years after that trade the Nets were the #5 & #4 seed in the East – so they were a viable playoff team & building to get Better & Hoping to add All Star level talent (just like Boston did when they were an 8 seed 4 years ago than a 5 seed than a 1 seed & this year a 2 seed)
But we ALL forget that Boston & Aigne took on $70 Million in Dead Salary in that trade & at the timke Deron Williams was Brooklyn’s Star point guard & we Also forget that Williams was a TOP 10 NBA player according to ESPN top 100 for several years during thise time & he was a perennial All Star
But for some mysterious reason Deron Williams in his PRIME just started going Backwards & there is No way Aigne could have predicted that.
The Nets could have Easily used that trade & the Salary Boston ate to go on & sign Max Free Agents as a #4 seed to spring board up to the #2 seed – just like Boston did w/ Horford & Hayward
If the Nets sign some FA’s & Willaims does not fall apart those 3 – 1st round picks could have Easily been #20 to #28 in the 1st Round after eating $70 Million in Salary & it could have been a Disaster for the Celtics
Then consider that after landing Jaylan Brown (in a Very weak 2016 Draft) & Jayson Tatum than he has the foresight to trade that last 2018 pick which turned out to be #8 for Kyrie Irving who is a LOCK Hall of Famer
I HATE complimenting Aigne b/c as a Lakers fan our front office has been a Mess but as much credit as Aigne gets this is a Rare case where he actually deserves even MORE
