MikezParticipantIn December they are 4-3, and if they cut out some mistakes and a make some easy layups(Jarrett Jack) they would be 6-1 with close games with Miami down the stretch until the last minute and a close game with the Blazers
in the next 30 games before the allstar break they could go 20-10 if they play the way they have in the past 8 games.
Opp in order: Mil, Chi, Det, Atl, Bos, GS, Ind, Orl, Brk, Ind, Phi, Uth, Sac, LaL, Por, Den, Dal, Chi, Mil, Pho, No, Ny, Hou, Dal, LaL, Was, Mem, Sac, Det.
Thoughs?

ChewyParticipantwhy this roster shouldn’t make the playoffs. They have a star in Kyrie, young talent is Thompson and Waiters and more, and they have Vets like Varajao and Jack. AND they are in the East!

"I still believe they will be a playoff team this year. Everyone thinks a move has to be made but I disagree. It would take a player a while to be good in Mike Brown’ s defense and getting guys mid season without a camp rarely meshes well.
Time will tell but I think they won’t shake things up to much and if a player is moved it won’t be Waiters. It will likely be Alonzo Gee, Earl Clark (neither has guaranteed salary for next year) or both. After all, a spot at small forward needs to be opened, assuming that’s what they would want in return. I think a 3 and picks are most likely to be used rather than a young piece. They don’t have usable cap room in a trade other than to dump Bynum (doing so in January would free up 6 million), who looked like an all-star tonight against the Bulls(20 point double double). If a deal happens it would likely be a 3 team trade allowing the Cavs to send both wings out so they could have that 9 million dollars that Gee (3), Clark (4.5) and potentially Zeller (1.7) to swapped for a starter at the 3."
I still believe everything in there and a 7-7 December will right the ship, if the ship is on the East coast. I don’t see Waiters being moved unless its for a starter at the 3 or Bynum gets hurt bad. Oddly enough for me center is still the biggest weak spot, being bad on the wings is not a recipe for sucess but Clark is great defensively against big 3’s and Gee against small ones and point guards. If Bynum gets hurt then this team will go .200. Andy and TT are great against PF’s holding then to like 12 PER and bad against centers. I would give up some of these damn picks not players outside of Gee, Clark or Zeller and try to get Asik or maybe try to go low ball for Larry Sanders or Javale when he recovers. Small guards, especially the 3 guard line up that has been doing well for the Cavs needs a jumping jack weak side shot blocker to be effective.

machu46ParticipantI won’t count any team out of the playoff race in the East with the exception of the 76ers and the Bucks (and as a Bucks fan, I’m very happy about that lol).

Jester87ParticipantThe talent is there, nobody questions that, the problem is that they’re a very disfunctional team and if trade rumors involving them are true they don’t seem to be working to fix that. Also they’re a decent defensive team, they just struggle on offense. But they have some assets, and if the can get rid of some lane clogging bigs, bring in shooters and players that move without the ball they could make the playoffs. But if they’re trying to solve all their problems trading Waiters for Turner they’re not going to get any better and while they could still make the playoffs, that would be only because the Ewwwstern conference is that bad this year.
