don042488ParticipantWe all saw how better the Toronto Raptors got after getting rid of Rudy Gay, and we also saw how efficient Rudy Gay got as a player since being in Sacramento. I feel deja vu will repeat itself with the Detroit Pistons and Josh Smith. Smith sees how better the Pistons are without him, that he will try his best to gel and be on his game for the Rockets. No player wants to feel as if they were the sole reason a team was losing, so this leads most players to improve their play in a new situation, to dispel the "cancer" label.

mixtape2003ParticipantI would compare it more to them getting rid of Bargnani, big man jacking up 3 point shots and pretty much got traded for nothing. At lease with Gay they got some good rotation player in Hayes, Patterson, and Vasquez.

joe2324ParticipantThe knicks got rid of their cancer in JR Smith, but they suck so bad it won’t turn them around. Now, the cavs got rid of one cancer in Waiters and obtained another cancer in JR Smith so this is going to be a wash. I do feel the thunder are now officially screwed taking on Waiters. Bad attitudes have a way of permeating the entire locker room and they have an negative intangible effect on the entire team. It is something that is difficult to measure, but its real. I feel the same way about Demaurcus Cousins. The kings need a way to get rid of that guy and move on. Lance Stephonson is having that affect on the hornets right now which is why they are so eager to get rid of him.
A locker room cancer can be defined as anyone who refuses to play within the confines of the team or someone with a nasty and negative attitude. I think JR Smith falls into the first category of someone who just plays like an idiot, throwing up shot after shot with no purpose. Josh Smith falls into this group as well. I think Waiters and Cousins are two players with bad attitudes.
When drafting a player, teams need to be able to filter these guys out early because they never change.

joe2324Participanttake a look the success the nets are having by benching Deron Williams, another bad attitude, coach killer. In most cases, the bad apple has to go completely so he can’t influence the rest of the team. Hopefully, the nets can find a way to dump this guy.

ropeParticipantI don’t think Josh Smith is capable of playing any better than he is right now. That might not have always been the case, but it is the current reality. He has not adapted his game as his physical abilities have changed. I don’t wish him any ill, but he is less valuable now than ever.

negguaryParticipantNegg me all you want but stop with the CANCER term when it comes to something as little as basketball!! That’s a serious disease that takes the lives of many people. It’s sick and a sad reflection of todays time that we would use such a serious term that are used to label people with a major disease and use it to refer to a player who doesn’t fit a team’s mold??? Really?? Is it that serious that we will call someone a cancer over something so minute as basketball . Hey man I’m the biggest fan of the game, and can honestly say I use sports as a calming mechanism, but come on people lets be real its never that deep that we need to freely use the term to refer to someone who isn’t a team player!!! STOP!!!!
