Looks like the Bulls are shopping Gasol with his player option likely not to be picked up next year making him a UFA. Butler down for a month with his knee are the Bulls going to try to get some draft picks and invusion of youth? Do they want to see if they can get someone currently useful now?

I think they realize they are not an elite team right now and need to retool. Butler is the best player on the team and Rose is just kinda getting back still sorta. They might as well see what they can get for Gasol.

Celtics should offer some youth there way and see what they say. Celtics 1st rounder should be low 20s, and Terry Rozier who has some potential. What other team would offer much more than that when he can be a free agent and leave at the end of the year?

I saw somewhere that the Bulls are looking at Lance Stephenson is he’s placed on waivers which could be a hit or miss, but somewhat decent while Butler is out.

I couldn’t agree more about trying to trade Gasol to the Celtics. They have a ton of picks for the next couple years and some expiring deals that could free up space, although the Bulls have never been known to attract big time free agents. I was thinking something along the lines of Gasol for David Lee/Amir Johnson (johnson has a partially guaranteed contract) and a pick or 2 from the Celtics/ nets for a sweetener.

This would make the Celtics into true contenders this year without giving up too much imo. They’re already the 3rd seed and with Gasol that could push them into the 2nd seed. He gives them championship experience and another go-to guy in the 4th instead of Thomas, who’s been playing amazing this year.

For the Bulls they would have a few picks this draft and can go for more youth and athleticism or package them for the star they need ala Cousins. I feel like there is no other team worth trading him to that would be able to give back somewhat of an equal value that Gasol has given the Bulls.

The lineups would then look something like:

      Bulls-Rose, Stephenson/Butler, McDermott, Mirotic, Gibson

with Brooks, Hinrich, Snell, Lee/Johnson, Portis off bench

      Celtics-Thomas, Bradley, Crowder, sullinger, Gasol

with Smart, Turner, Olynyk, Jerebko, Zeller, Johnson/Lee off bench

I don’t think the celts give up a pick for 30 year old who isn’t going to be around when their youth develops. Let alone a guy who can walk in a couple months

I don’t think they would mind giving up the 20th pick, one of possibly four first rounders at that, for an established all star who is a big. Also, they could still resign him.

Gar Forman and Paxson need to go, Trading Gary Harris and Nurkic for Doug McDermott was the final straw for me.. These guys are tight asses for all the wrong reasons..

j/k lol…. I could not agree more….. McDermott (#11 overall 2014) AND Nik Stauskus (#8 overall 2014) I remember Draft night 2014 when many fans in cities like Sacramento, Phila, Orlando, Chalotte & Denver (the teams picking in the 8 to 13 range that night)….. were clamoring for these two……

Who I think most people with a decent eye realized had Zero chance to Ever to play major minutes for an NBA team…… B/c neither man has the lateral quickness or foot speed to defend Anyone at the NBA level……

McDermott can shoot & he’s doing fairly well in his 2nd year in Chicago as a 3 point shooter off the bench…… But I’m in a agreement…. Nurkic – "The Bosnian Beast" is a rugged 7 foot Center who gives Denver 6 pts & 6 reb a night in about a dozen min off the bench…..

& Gary Harris is also a rugged combo guard – strong Defender – still only 21 years old…. Harris is playing more SG w/ the arrival Emmanuel Mudiay….. Harris scoring 11+ ppg & playing 30+ min every night….. in what looks like a real a nice guard rotation……  I’d score that trade in Denver’s favor (as of now)…..

     What about this trade?

D Lee, J Young, T Rozier to Chicago.

    Gasol, Noah, Hinrich to Boston.

Bulls save $4million.  They add two prospects who were recent mid-first round picks, they get something for three players who may not be there next year anyway.

If the Bulls want to cut more from the cap next year, put Gibson instead of Noah into the deal, and Dunleavy could be added too.

Few teams will overpay now for players like Gasol, and R Anderson and Howard, when they can sign them next offseason, and if traded for now might lose them as free agents in a few months.

Boston might also inlcude their own first rounder in the 2016 draft.

Bulls get pieces for the future, Boston adds Gasol now without losing important players.

Even bigger, add D Rose.  Bulls save and clear money, Celtics add some new options.  Gasol, Rose, Gibson for D Lee, A Johnson (contract with team option next year), Young, Rozier.

Gar and PAx need to go, I’ve been saying this for three years. They strike out on every free agent, we have the third biggest market and great history. They do not make any big trades to get stars. There way to conservative for how the NBA is these days. We need a GM that knows how to recruit and doesnt have a big ass ego for no reason at all, they’ve done nothing

You know what? Chicago’s roster isn’t in too bad a shape. They’ve got Jimmy Butler on a great contract for the next 4 1/2 years. They’ve got every other player apart from McDermott, Dunleavy and Portis coming off their books in the next 18 months, including Rose’s massive contract and Noah’s 13m. In the meantime, Gasol, Mirotic and Gibson are all on great contracts so have some value left in them. They’ve got potential of the Kings pick given how desperately the Kings want to be an 8 seed in the West.

If they make some good moves now to package some of these assets for guys that will move the needle, and fill their capspace with the right guys (given that Chicago is still a great free agent destination) they’ll be just fine.
