So to fight that post-draft lull, I created a game. Here’s the rules:

    1) Go to Basketball-Reference.com
    2) Under the “more” tab, at the bottom, you will see a “random page” link. Click that to go to a random page
    3) Take the first 5/12/15 ACTIVE players you come across, and make a team out of them. For fun, you can add the first coach and executive you come across, too
    4) Be patient. It’s a big database. It will take a while (15 minutes?) before you can get a full roster.
    5) Enjoy reading about other random players. I certainly had some Blasts from the Past
    6) HAVVVVE FUN!

    My Team:

C-Johan Petro- Well, I didn’t exactly get any great centers. But he’s bug, he has some starting experience, and he wont completely eff everything up.
PF- Kevin Seraphin-Solid player for the Wizards, maybe my best big man lol
SF- Andrei Kirilenko-Good all-around player, which my team is gonna need. Will be needed especially on D.
SG- Kawhi Leonard-Will have to step up and be the offensive spark here, as he’s probably the stud of this team.
PG- Jamaal Tinsley-Old, but a solid floor general. Not a scorer, though.

    Bench-
Draymond Green- He’s a good do-everything guy who will provide great energy off the bench. May have to replace Tinsley and be the point forward due to lack of PG depth.
Jason Maxiell- Another great energy guy to come off my bench. Maybe should start, but he’s accustomed to being a bench guy.
PJ Tucker- Another solid all-around wing player. Can probably take on more of a scoring role for the team.
Terrence Jones- Played well in the D-League and has star potential, which this team lacks.
James Jones- Great shooter on a team devoid of shooting. Good length, too.
Nazr Mohammed- Scrappy backup center and role player.
Kent Bazemore- Young guy, relative unknown. Can rebound well for a guard, though.

    Coach-Mike Brown
    GM-Bryan Colangelo

Here’s a few other interesting names that popped up:
John Bryant-I needed a 12th guy when he popped up. It was tempting to add him to the roster, but Kirilenko is a wee bit better…
    Press Maravich-Pete’s dad
    God Shamgodd
Maya Moore-She could probably make this team, which is sad

Made a new team. It’s significantly better, although the bench may not be as deep. Might actually be able to compete against real NBA squads…

C- Nene- Big guy can still get it done. Not that I have a lot of other options.
PF- Wilson Chandler- Gonna play a little small ball here. Chandler can rebound and provide some athleticism at the 4.
SF- Paul Pierce- Finally, a star! Pierce isn’t great anymore, but he’ll have to carry some of the lead offensively here.
SG- Klay Thompson- A budding young SG who can stroke it! He could be The Guy for this team very soon.
PG- Pablo Prigioni- Not a lot of options here at PG, but Prigioni can make some plays and D up. Savvy vet.

    Bench-
Markieff Morris- Solid backup forward with a good midrange game. Decent sixth man here.
Jordan Hamilton- Young athletic scorer who can shoot it very well. Perfect bench scorer.
James Jones-(Again!) Another good shooter on a team of good shooters. May not see much time with the good wings on this team, but he can contribute.
Johan Petro-(AGAIN!)- One of the first guys I picked, again. Decent backup big, I suppose.
Jon Leuer- Skilled big with a polished offensive game. Can be interchanged situationally with Petro.
Darko Milicic- Darko has his moments, so if he has anything left in the tank, maybe we’ll get a nice surprise from an end-of-the-bench guy.
Andrew Goudelock- A good shooter who becomes out de facto backup point guard. Not a bad 12th man.

    Coach-Erik Spoelstra
    Assistant Coach-Nate McMillan
GM-Ernie Grunfeld (Good thing the team is already made lol)

“Maya Moore-She could probably make this team, which is sad” sorry but no, take the worst NBA players in the last 20 years and face the best women players ever and the NBA guys would win in an wipeout.

This was great. You’re my kind of guy. This took me over 20 minutes tho. I think I got a pretty even team position wise. So here it is:

PG: George Hill, Jerryd Bayless, Kendall Marshall
SG: Rasual Butler, Jodie Meeks, Roger Mason Jr.
SF: Harrison Barnes, Quentin Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu
PF: JJ Hickson, Steve Novak, Luc Mbah a Moute
C: Nazr Mohammed, Jon Brockman, Henry Sims
    Coach: Paul Silas

As you can see, we are gonna 3s like crazy and crash the offensive boards hard with our big men. Can play big and can play small. Pretty good defensive team except for Jodie, Hedo, and Novak. May not have the star power of Leonard or Kirilenko, but I think we can shoot the lights out most nights. Kinda weak up front, so will probably have to play small with Hickson at centre.

    Fun notes:

SONNY WEEMS!!!!!!!! I forgot about my man! Wish he would come back to the raptors…..

While going through this I got the same guy twice (which is a very low probability). The guys nickname was mr. Mean. Thought that was pretty bad ass lol.

YESSSSSSSSSSS!!! Someone else who doesn’t think this is too nerdy and time-consuming! This team is solid. I would start Bayless at the 2, though. My second team is undeniably better, but this is about even with the first. Although your coach is Paul Silas…

I just went for a starting 5, 6th man and coach.

    Got:

    PG – Mike Conley
    SG – Tony Allen
    SF – Ryan Anderson
    PF – David West
    C – Samuel Dalembert

    6th – Jeremy Lin

    Coach – Greg Popovich

Well getting Pop was definitely the highlight, not exactly an awe-inspiring team but they’d get some wins, definitely not a playoff berth thought 😛

Aaron Gray :Pops Mensah-Bonsu: Henry Sims
Dirk Nowitzki: Jordan Hill: Tyler Hansbrough
Jared Dudley :Anthony Tolliver: Cartier Martin
Rodney Stuckey: Alec Burks: Jared Cunningham
Rajon Rondo: Eric Bledsoe: Will Bynum

Interesting team with some shooters and scoters around Rondo. Him and Nowitzki would be a good tandom. Not much depth though aside from PG and PF.

Took a little while seeing as my first 4 pages where that of dead players haha. All went downhill after Rubio
PG: Ricky Rubio ( I shouted ‘ YES’ at this, deeply confused my housemates, especially when i tried to explain)
    SG: Carlos Delfino
    SF: Michael Beasley
    PF: Terrence Jones
    C:Channing Frye

    Bench: Earl Watson
    Josh Howard
    Josh Harrellson
    Al-Farouq Aminu
    Francisco Garcia
    Rashard Lewis
    Trey Thompkins
Bostjan Nachbar ( I know he’s not in the league any more but he was a personal favourite) TWICE
    James Anderson
Kwame Brown- He was almost my starting centre

There was a guy called Devin Durrant? For one second I was happy

My front court is kinda thin, but I should be able to drown teams with 3 pt shooting lol. My team started out hot but I just kept getting guards in between the MILLION dinosaurs and D-League guys I came across.

    TEAM:

PG – Moe Williams/Darren Collison/JJ Barea – I think starting Darren Collison makes the most sense because he can provide some solid team defense and won’t look to get his own shot. Barea as a change of pace guard will be nice for 15 minutes a game and Moe would be the first reserve.

SG – Joe Johnson/Lance Stephenson/Randy Foye/Tony Allen/Roger Mason – Starting Joe Johnson for obvious reasons but Lance Stephenson provides some much needed depth and gives me a very talented wing defender. Randy Foye would be nice to come off the bench too as a 3 point shooter.

SF – Carmelo Anthony – Melo is going to play a lot at the 4 and I see a 3 guard lineup with Collison, Johnson and Stephenson/Foye working best with him to spread the floor and enable him the most space to be able to score.

PF – Amare Stoudemire/Jeremy Tyler/Drew Gooden – I’m not sure what to make of Amare but he’s clearly my best PF and I’m sure he could give me something.

C – Larry Sanders/Brendan Haywood/Aaron Gray – Sanders gives me the shot blocker in the middle, but still lack depth in the front court.

Most likely starting 5: Collison, Johnson, Melo, Amare, Sanders

Maybe the end of game 5: Collison/Williams, Johnson, Allen/Stephenson, Melo, Sanders

    Head Coach: Erik Spoelstra
