The Bucks- Milwaukee or Seattle?

Interesting that the Commish has come out and basically said Milwaukee needs to build a new stadium to house the Bucks. The Bradely Center is unquestionably, the worst facility to house an NBA team and something needs to be done. I am just not sold that the Bucks will stay. Having Senator Kohl as the owner is essentially the only thing keeping them tied to Milwaukee and he will most likely be the only one that can keep them there. The political climate in Wisconsin is not great and I don’t like the timing for Milwaukee pressing forward with a new arena for the Bucks.
As a Bucks fan, I hope they stay where they are, but if I were placing a wager, I think Seattle is the destination for the Bucks.

at least they will still have the Brewers so they will still have a professional team to root for unlike if Sacramento lost the kings they wouldnt have a pro team in the big 4 sports.

theyve been talking about this for years…i hope Milwaukee stays but if they do leave, Seattle would be happy to have a team.

    True, I just thought it would be a better fit as far as proximity. Seattle moves into the NW division and Minnesota moves into central. But then again OKC is in NW so proximity clearly doesn’t matter in all cases lol.

They could rename them the Seattle StarBUCKS then. I guess… or maybe not.
The only way to do it is to get two expansion teams. The expansion fees that the current teams will get will make up for the loss of TV revenue. THEN with more TV markets and 2 new teams that sell out seats, the next TV deal should be worth money.
I don’t really see a way that a TV deal WITH a Seattle club couldn’t be anything but HIGHER. That’s a big, wealthy market that also includes Vancouver, BC perhaps. Seattle could play some exhibition games there. The new Seattle team would have instant sell outs too. Lots of jersey sales as well.
The other expansion team would probably go to an Eastern city. Maybe Columbus, OH or Louisville, KY. Kansas City, MO might be the best bet. I wouldn’t rule out St. Louis either.
Another thing, the next TV deal should be worth more money, since there would be MORE GAMES. There would be 32 teams playing every week instead of 30. The NBPA should want it since there would be more job openings for players.
Expansion teams haven’t been bad for the league. The real bad (mediocre) teams over the past 25 years or so have been the Nets (except with Jason Kidd), the Hawks, and the Bucks. The expansion teams since then have done ok. The Heat have won 2 titles, the Magic have gone to 2 NBA Finals. The Bobcats are bad, but the Charlotte Hornets had some nice runs. I think Charlotte will get better. I think the New Orleans Pelicans will right their ship, too. The Grizzlies got out of Vancouver, and continued to struggle some, but have finally gotten better and are coming off a Western Conference Finals appearance in Memphis. The Grizzlies were also recently named by ESPN Magazine as the best franchise in pro sports. … only the Raptors have really struggled and even they had some fun teams with Vince Carter.
I think adding a Seattle franchise again would be GREAT for the league. Another team in the Eastern Conference would also create some excitement.
With two more teams then I think you could do a third round. That would also help fill out the D League which should be turned into a legit minor league for the NBA.

Herb Kohl is a Milwaukee guy through and through but he is now 78 years old so might be looking at options regarding the team as he gets older but I’d assume he’d want to keep the team in Milwaukee. With his connections he would be the ideal person to try and get a new Arena off the ground.
Plus being a politician he’d be a very good person to get support from other owners to keep the team where it is, I could almost imagine him speaking to David Stern informally about what Adam Silver said as Stern is still the commish.
I’d love Seattle to get another team and their investors do seem to have deep pockets so could they make Herb Kohl a generous offer I wonder but I think the only way he would accept would be if no local buyers could be found or if the Bucks were promised any future expansion team. I would certainly hope that if an expansion did happen then Seattle would be a logical place for a team as well if they cannot import one

I’ve read several articles this year about the Bucks and their failed arena proposals & having an extremely difficult time raising money. I expect that they will move to Seattle & Seattle will get a NHL team too after the build their new arena.
Sure, the Bucks have history, but how many championships did the Lakers win before moving to LA? 5? An entire dynasty?!
Did you ever think the Yankees would demolish the house that Ruth built?!
History isn’t meaningless, but as history has shown – it certainly doesn’t hold as much value as people think it does…..
The reason the SuperSonics left Seattle is because KeyArena. (I hope they re-develop & build something better there moving forward,) but Seattle couldn’t get a new arena approved because they thought KeyArena would suffice, yet a small market like OKC managed to steal their franchise that was actually a great team. Now, Milwaukee is repeating the entire arena ordeal simply by how many times they’re trying to force a new arena that continues to struggle for funds & approval…. no one with deep pockets in Milwaukee is supporting the idea of a new arena in Milwaukee, at least not financially, so the writings clearly on the wall. They’ll be in Seattle within 5 years, but I’d recommend Seattle to start building their arena asap.
Map of the NBA’s Future:
RELOCATE: Milwaukee (39th largest metro) to Seattle (15th largest metro)
RELOCATE: Salt Lake City (124th largest city) to Las Vegas (31st largest city) Contingent on the completion of their new arena & not trying to lure a team to the outdated MGM arena- that’s a recipe for failure.
EXPAND: Kansas City because the Sprint Center (2007) is new, nice, and obviously already built. Not to mention the success of nearby OKC & Memphis.
EXPAND: Pittsburgh because the Consol Energy Center (2010) is even newer and debatably nicer.
