sacphil_08ParticipantSo please forgive me any fan of the blazers, but Portland is cursed. They are ALWAYS injured. Oden and pryzbilla have yet to come back from injuries, elliot williams is out for this season, and then its to the point where fabricio oberto who they just picked up before the season is retiring because he has a ruptured heart… brandon roy went down last year as they were playing in my opinion the best they had ever played in portland since he was drafted which threw everything off and caused them to lose in the first round. martell webster was hurt pretty much all year every year and hes even carried it to minnesota. hell even patty mills who hadnt played a game and was only drafted in 09 got hurt for the year before the season even started. i also feel that the curse had something to do with the reason they couldnt sustain their 17 point lead going into the final quarter of game 7 of the 2000 conference finals against the lakers. It started with the passing of michael jordan for sam bowie but it goes beyond that. I think that whole debacle with darius miles made things worse for them, now this issue with rudy. Greg oden was supposed to be a ‘savior’ and he’s always hurt as well and i dont think will ever equate to anything close to what they had envisioned. Brandon roy has given them reason for optimism but i honestly think he’ll leave once he becomes a free agent. I dont know if anyone else watched the game last night but it really seemed like b roy was uninterested down the stretch. He came out this preseason and said he needs the ball way more but for whatever reason nate mcmillan seems to think or allow andre miller to have the ball in his hands in clutch situations rather than roy and it seems to be bothering roy. Not once in overtime last night did he run to the ball and isolate like he normally has done and i think its because hes disgruntled and wants out. Not to mention when they were discussing an extension either last season or the year before they didnt come up with anything he wanted and when you have a franchise guy, you just lay down and give him what he wants. In short i think he’ll be gone and portland will be back where they were after the ‘jailblazers’ era unfortunately. im not wishing any bad on the team but i just think they are cursed and the curse will continue…. Sorry

mikeyvthedonParticipantThat a post about how cursed the Blazers are was written by a guy who I believe is a Kings fan. Take my team over yours bud, and tell me how that whole curse thing is working for your squad too. Both lost that heart breaking game 7 to the Lakers, but at least the Blazers have been play-off staples. Tyreke is sick, and so is DeMarcus, but I like the Blazers core a whole lot more, even with the whole injury curse spiel. Still won a chip back in 1977. How many has your team won? Guess you can still count the Rochester Royals in 1950-51. Congrats. Man, the Blazers may indeed be cursed, but I do not even think that it is close to that of the Kings. That team was hurt constantly, lost an even more heart breaking game 7 in OT and has been a standard of NBA mediocrity for much of the time in between and after. Not wishing anything bad on the Kings, but they usually do not need me too.

llperezthat should be its very own thread, who had the more heartbreaking 7 game series loss to the lakers, blazers or kings?
Blazers had a 15 point lead with 10 minutes remaiing and blew it. Kings had the lakers dead in the water throughout that series and lost a game 7 in ot on their home court. For all intensive purposes, those were the NBA finals since nobody was giving the eastern teams any chance either year.

sacphil_08Participantwow that was a soft spot i see… i know we’ve had our share of heartbreak but i was talking about portland. i didnt say anything about our core versus yours i said all the injuries and the overall curse so dont get so butt hurt… im stating an opinion not any bias. i have absolutely nothing against the blazers. i love b roy aldridge is good and the concept is great there im just pointing out that they are cursed. we’re obviously cursed and we had refs calling games to make sure we stayed cursed. but if you want to take it there, ill be sure to hit you up in 2011 when brandon roy is signing a contract with someone else and then the blazers become the standard of atrocity. Youd be best served to stick to the topic, bud.

i had no idea of that… ok so in 2013 he’ll leave or hell maybe before then. he looks disgruntled and spoke on it in the offseason so he may even get traded.

mikeyvthedonParticipantMan, when the topic has to do with a "curse" which is something that involves the occult and paranormal, where can it go? Should I get the great warlock Vindalu to answer me some questions to see if he has placed a knee curse on the Blazers. Also, it seems like you, more than I got upset about the jabbing to your team. So, if the topic is predicting the future and crystal balls, than no, I do not think Brandon Roy will leave the Blazers. If I did, I would of course want to come up with a possible destination rather than just saying, "well, he is upset with the team and the injuries, plus they’re cursed, so he will peace out." So, if you use the words "curse" and expect me to stick to it as a topic, than I can surely bring along evidence of other cursed teams. What the hell is the topic? The Blazers are cursed? A curse (also called execration) is any expressed wish that some form of adversity or misfortune will befall or attach to some other entity—one or more persons, a place, or an object. So, to just state what has happened is not a curse per se, but the key is being wished. So, when it comes to "curse’s" it is a popular colloquialism for sports, but over time, they usually turn out to be, well, bad luck. The Blazers have been unlucky. Yes, bad things have happened to the Blazers, injuries, bad picks, but to me, it makes them no less cursed than say, the Sacramento Kings when it comes to a global perspective. Was there something slightly deeper in your profound thread that I was missing? I mean, am I just supposed to agree or disagree. In other words, when someone usually makes a "such and such is cursed" topic, it is usually, a pretty stupid topic. Not butthurt at all my friend, though I think you seem to be having problems there.
