We all know the best center is D12. Best SF is Bron. Best 2guard is Kobe and best PG is still Chris Paul no matter how many bangwagon Deron Williams fans we have just because he played in the playoffs and CP3 didn’t.

But who’s the best power forward?

    -Pau Gasol – 18.3ppg, 11.3rpg, 3.4apg, 1.7bpg
    -Rashard Lewis – 14.1ppg, 4.4rpg
    -Chris Bosh – 24ppg, 10.8rpg,
    -Kevin Garnett – 14.3ppg, 7.3rpg
    -Tim Duncan – 17.9ppg, 10.1rpg, 3.2apg, 1.5bpg
    -Dirk Nowitzki – 25ppg, 7.7rpg
    -Zach Randolph – 20.8ppg, 11.7rpg
    -Amar’e Stoudemire – 23.1ppg, 8.9rpg
    -Carlos Boozer – 19.5ppg, 11.2rpg
    -Josh Smith – 15.7ppg, 8.7rpg, 4.2apg, 2.1bpg

I would have to say Josh Smith, the only thing keeping him from being an all-star year after year is the fact that he’s playing with 2 other all stars on his team and his 3pt shot still isn’t there yet. He has matured so much, 3 years ago, he chucked over 150 3pters in a season, this season he only shot 7. If he gets a 3pt shot and shoots atleast 35% from it, he’ll add another 5-7ppg to his average, making him a 23-10-5-2-2 guy 2 years from now. DPoY waiting to happen.

“best PG is still Chris Paul no matter how many bangwagon Deron Williams fans we have just because he played in the playoffs and CP3 didn’t”

    Stopped reading after this.

People have been saying Deron Williams is better since the beginning of the season. Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley both said it.

If you think Chris Paul is better then that’s your opinion, but don’t belittle the rest of us.

IF Timmy is a pf then he is still the best followed by Bosh I think but Pau could be 2nd as well.

Either Bosh or Gasol. Bosh because he can block shots play great D and still score very well. Gasol well he is the best moving PF. What I mean by moving is he can manuever and do pretty much anything you want. Block shots play like a Center, or a Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, or play PF and mold alongside someone like Andrew Bynum, and he can do it and he is very athletic. Probably the best athletic PF in the game today. Bosh is very close. Gasol, and Bosh are probably very close to the top.
And yes, Dwill is better than CP3. No, I am not a bandwagon fan because Utah made the playoffs. I have been a jazz fan for a long time, and I’ve always believed Dwill, was better than CP3. I can tell you many reasons why Dwill is better but that is an argument for another day.

Here is the order that I have for the PF’s you listed.
Tie between Chris Bosh and Pau Gasol
    Amare Stoudamire
    Tim Duncan
    KG
    Dirk Nowitski
    Zach Randolph
    Carlos Boozer
    Josh Smith
    Rashard Lewis.

Up and comer player, Al Jefferson will also be added to this list soon. Maybe after this year. And he should be right behind Amare too, because of his defensive play. I expect a lot from him and I don’t think I will be disappointed. I have alot of good things coming from him and I can’t wait to see him play in his Jazz debut.

No Boozer & Amare this year.

CP3 is better then Deron Williams. CP3 is a top 5 player in the NBA when healthy. Williams is more 7-10.

I say Tim Duncan is the best PF on that list but Josh Smith has the best numbers.

Dirk is the best PF though, slightly over Pau

Bosh and Gasol are the best right now. Maybe they meet in the Finals…we can see whos better.

    Kobe/Lebron – even
    Gasol/Bosh – even
    No third superstar/Wade +1 Heat
    Depth +1 Lakers
    Coaching +1 Lakers

I honestly think Bosh would abuse Gasol, but Gasol would also abuse Bosh. neither will stop the other. But then again Bosh has never had a defensive mindset and if Spoelstra does what he does which is create a defensive mindset during every minute on the floor throughout every player on the team, I say Bosh becomes a great defender and takes the edge over Gasol.

I think Gasol is the best because he can do more stuff than Dirk and he can fit more comfortable in that role but Dirk is probably a tougher match up in ways because he does not play like a traditional PF but thing is Gasol can pass, shoot from deep, shot from the inside, block shots, and rebound. All Dirk has on him is shooting from deep.

He is right now, incredibly, surpassing aging Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett. After him, I would say Chris Bosh has to be close, though Amare Stoudemire could potentially be ahead of both Bosh and Dirk if he really applies himself. Also, I think Pau Gasol is more than likely moving ahead of Kevin Garnett at this point. KG and Timmy are slowly becoming shadows of their former selves, but they both are still two of the best. My rankings of those players listed would be:

    1) Dirk Nowitzki
    2) Amare Stoudemire (Guessing he puts up huge numbers on the Knicks)
    3) Chris Bosh
    4) Pau Gasol (Honestly, it will be very interesting to see Gasol go up against the above 2 players, because he could move up)
    5) Tim Duncan
    6) Kevin Garnett (Still a fantastic player, though he has taken a back seat. His torching of Antawn Jamison was a huge reason the Celtics beat the Cavs, although Rondo and Allen definitely helped a lot in their total mismatches as well.)
    7) Carlos Boozer (Tougher and better defender than Zach Randolph, give him the nod)
    8) Zach Randolph (Though Josh Smith might be better really soon)
    9) Josh Smith
    10) Rashard Lewis

Dirk Nowitzki is obviously the better player. Gasol is 2nd best he’s great and everything but when your playing with someone like Kobe Bryant things get much easier Nowitzki has never had anyone nearly as good as another option and caron butler doesn’t count

Dirk is no spring chicken, and he’s a bad rebounder, and still an average defender. Offensive versatility is still outstanding, but Gasol is the better defender and post player, and passer. Which is kinda important for a PF.

    1. Gasol
    2. Dirk, slightly ahead of…
    3. Bosh
    4. Duncan
    5. Amare
    6. Smith
    7. Boozer
    8. DAVID LEE!!?!?!
    9. Garnett

I don’t know how Gasol can be ahead of Nowitzki when defenses don’t focus on him. Gasol’s a great rebounder and defender but can get exposed as seen when he went up against Amare.

    I´d say
1-2 is a tie between Pau Gasol and Timmy. Without Pau I think LA would´nt have the rings. Pau´s offensive rebounds-and-baskets decided games more than once in playoffs. He has been consistent scoring-wise and rebounded superiorly. But Timmy has all-around game, which is not comparable – he does everything well and is consistent at this matter – He makes his baskets, he takes his rebounds, he passes the ball, he blocks his shots and is a true leader night in and night out.

Josh Smith is very versatile, superior defender, but he disappears at times almost entirely – that´s what separates him form Pau and Timmy. Chris Bosh is consistently good in scoring and rebounding, but he is consistently inadequate defencively. Dirk hardly is a typical powerforward, as he moves freely on the court at Dallas, same as Rashard Lewis. If u sacrifice defencive presence from paint and some rebounding to the scoring, then u don´t have a true powerforard anymore. It´s more about finesse and shooting than power inside. So in my mind it´s hard to consider Dirk and Rashard as true PF-s. KG-s numbers are down, respectively. 3-4 Years back he would won this contest, hands down.

Gasol is definitely the most skilled PF right not. I think winning plays a part in how we view these players. I dont think Gasol is a different player from what he was Memphis; and I doubt anyone would have called him the best are even top 3 power forwards at that time. Right now he may be the toughest to deal with at the power forward slot. You can make a strong case for Dirk. Josh Smith is good best not in the best discussion.

I think when u factor in all aspects(shot ,rebounding ,defense, skills) you have to go with gasol. Dirk is better offensively but overall(if that’s how you vote) then it’s gasol. Bosh iscloser if he was a better defender. And you’re right being on a winning team is a factor. The only difference I see in the laker gasol is he’s tougher then Memphis gasol(not Marc)

Actually – as some of these PF-s are listed as F-C cause they have to play occasionally both positions, I would want to add some more F- C – players, who are more of a powerforwards, who have to fill the need at a center position due to a circumstances

    Joakim Noah 14.8 ppg (52.8 ffp), 13.0 rpg, 2.6 apg. 1.4 bpg, 1.8 spg

Luis Scola 16.2 ppg (51.4 ffp), 8.6 rpg, 2.1 apg

Kevin Love 14.0 ppg (45.0 ffp), 11.0 rpg

David West 19.0 ppg (50.5 ffp), 7.5 rpg, 3.0 apg

    LaMarcus Aldridge 19.0 ppg (43.0 ffp), 6.0 rpg, 1.8 bpg, 2.2 apg

And I should say: I´d put Joakim Noah to the third position after Pau and Timmy. So my list would be:

    1-2 Pau Gasol, Tim Duncan
    3. Joakim Noah
    4. Chris Bosh
    5. Al Jefferson
    6. Carlos Boozer
    7. Josh Smith
    8. Amare Stoudemire
    9. Zach Randolph
    10. Luis Scola
    11. David West
    12. KG

(I considered only the last season and expectations to starting season. If I consider the whole career, no matter how long or short it has been, the playing level at the peak of the career etc. then listing would be absolutely different:

    1. Kevin Garnett
    2. Tim Duncan
    3. Pau Gasol
    4. Amare Stoudemire
    5. Chris Bosh
    6. Carlos Boozer
    7. Joakim Noah
    8. David West

    Joakim Noah 14.8 ppg (52.8 ffp), 13.0 rpg, 2.6 apg. 1.4 bpg, 1.8 spg

Luis Scola 16.2 ppg (51.4 ffp), 8.6 rpg, 2.1 apg

Kevin Love 14.0 ppg (45.0 ffp), 11.0 rpg

David West 19.0 ppg (50.5 ffp), 7.5 rpg, 3.0 apg

    LaMarcus Aldridge 19.0 ppg (43.0 ffp), 6.0 rpg, 1.8 bpg, 2.2 apg

And I should say: I´d put Joakim Noah to the third position after Pau and Timmy. So my list would be:

    1-2 Pau Gasol, Tim Duncan
    3. Joakim Noah
    4. Chris Bosh
    5. Al Jefferson
    6. Carlos Boozer
    7. Josh Smith
    8. Amare Stoudemire
    9. Zach Randolph
    10. Luis Scola
    11. David West
    12. KG

(I considered only the last season and expectations to starting season. If I consider the whole career, no matter how long or short it has been, the playing level at the peak of the career etc. then listing would be absolutely different:

    1. Kevin Garnett
    2. Tim Duncan
    3. Pau Gasol
    4. Amare Stoudemire
    5. Chris Bosh
    6. Carlos Boozer
    7. Joakim Noah
    8. David West

The thing with Gasol is I don’t think he’d be considered better than nowitzki without Kobe and Nowitzkie has gone far being the number one option on a team how far has Gasol gone? He is tremendously skilled but he is NOT the players teams focus on when playing the lakers and he takes advantage of that Nowitzkie has been the player teams ALWAYS focus on when playing the mavericks.

Overall Gasol is 2nd best in my eyes

Did someone really say Gasol can’t be the best because defenses don’t focus on him? Really? You don’t think that maybe they would be more worried about a person named Kobe Bryant. Just because Gasol isn’t the best player on his team doesn’t mean he isn’t the best at his position.

I think offensively Dirk is the best of course, but when you factor in passing and D I’d take Gasol.

That’s funny because every coach that’s been interviewed about playing the lakers say they spend alot of time focusing on stopping gasol( of course not more then Kobe Just like pippen not more then Jordan or David Robinson no more then Duncan) he’s a very big problem
    for other teams

Is that a serious question? Teams focus on every player that contributes. You can ask any coach? Have u ever played organized ball? If so then you know the coach goes down a list of about seven players who contributes for the other team. They don’t say” we will only focus on one guy”

Are you serious? I’m talking about when the teams are actually on the floor, I know when you watch games its obvious. The celtics defense played great d against the cavs and the lakers because they were focusing on each team’s main guy against the cavs and lakers they made the supporting cast beat them because the lakers have a better overall team than the cavs that’s why they won.

Anyone with any b-ball knowledge would know that teams will focus on certain players more than others especially when out on the floor

Haha don’t forget Gasol has come through on the clutch just these last playoffs, huge putback off Kobe’s miss to win the game.

I just think Gasol plays more like a PF, and Dirk plays more like a combo forward on offense, taking lots of outside shots, whereas Gasol is more dominant inside; its all well and good to stretch the floor, but playing inside should be the primary concern of a PF, and I just feel that Gasol is better at that. Also, rebounding. Enough said.

I still feel Dirk is more likely to lead you to a championship then Gasol, but I respect you guys points

On another note how lucky is Kobe he got to play with the most dominant player of the modern era in shaq and a top 2 power forward in Gasol he’s a great player but he’s also had some really good teammates

Dirk is a SG/SF masquerading in a PF/C’s body. He doesn’t do what the PF position calls for as good as other PFs do. Who is the better basketball player? Dirk. Who is the better PF, or in other words, who does what the position calls for the best? Gasol.

well u make a pretty valid argument bout pf but let me explain c d howard is the best center in the game hands ddown no other center in the nba can match his athlecism and youth i mean realisty he should have been mvp one of these years leadin the leuge in blocks and rebounds two consecutive season and turnin jameer neslson into an allstar but when it comes to centers hes the only pure one in the game i would say bynum but hes too injury prone he has to prove he can last cuz howard has youth advantage over him but next to those two or even next to howard right now noah is argumentley the second best center in the game he took his game to a whole nother level last seaon averigin a double double withouth any other post presnce on the team and was one of the only centers other than howard maybe d lee if u consider him a center i dont. but the uniqe thing about noah is his ability to run in the open court and dribbble i mean im only 20 years old and ive never seen a center throw a point guard an alley opp like noah did rose i mean were dey do that at oh yeah chicago u will never c dwight howard throw nelson an alley oop thats were noah can change the game at so dont insult him and call him an pussy ass power forward he the center, the anchor and under thibdoe he gone be a monster if he turned perkins to a championship startin center wait till u see hat he do with noah so with that bein said here is the top pfs in the game im ratin them due to stats, youth, efficency, and playoff exprince 1.dirk nowikti – hes been to the plaoffs every seaon of his career damn near and was andunderdog in the leuge cuz he was an international player and would have had a champioship if it wasnt 4 his loyalty to dallas and the reffs cheatin in th 06 finals cuz they was scared of shaq but he can shoot the three pass the ball has the expericne rebound tuff and die hard i would put timmy but right now its dirk timmy lost a step or two but still is the best pf ever and an elitee 2.pau gasol- hes proven he can bang with kg he has the exprince and the stats and averages a double double and two rings so if he can prove it with bosh than he stays here at two 3.carlos boozer- give credit were credit is due hes a champion and has playoff expericnce underdog had to fight his way up to elite (second round draft pick) hes proven even due to injury he can be efeective and easily averge 20 10 19.5 11.2 last season and he aint scarded of nobody he can match up with any pf in the leuge due to his ability to be efeective under the basket proved he can play with another allstar and was the only reason lebron didnt win a championship last seaon he played 78 games and without a true center still took utah to the second round boozer is good thats y he was one of da top free agents and got piad secon round pick 4.crhis bosh- he should be 1 but due to his inexpericnec in the playoffs and bein spioled in toronto not tryin to be that real pf next to bargini cuz they could have been a forcin them to play a system he likes hopfully he can prove he can win in miami in the plaoffs and be a champion because he reminds me a lot of kg but has the lack of defensive insensity kg has but it could all change in the south beach with bron and wade and he can easliy move up to number one.and it will add years to his career playin with bron n wade 5.tim ducan- hes the best of all time 4 rings and he still goin harrd he aint got nothin to plar for but stats now and hall of fame will be the next step hes done it all the best skilled pf of all time only reason he aint 1 is cuz of his age same thing with kg 6.k.g ring changed the game 4 skilled pfs was yung doin it and is an old school loyal player hes still in the top ten and is not one or two cuz of his age but hes the reason guys like bosh exist 7. d.lee hes proven he can average a doulbe double and he an allstar and a white boi at that but he bad and with steph curry and some strenght and condition trainin under don nelson system hes a master at coachin he could be one of the best of all time potetially and with steph as a patner 4 him he could be lookin at some gold when its all said and done 8. josh smith – better than rashard lewis cuz he plays defense if he can mature some more hee could turn atl to a solid championship contender 9. stoudumire- hes too injury prone and i think nash was a big reason 4 his sucess in phx if he can prove he can lead a team he can move up to bosh spot but i lost respect 4 him 4 leavin phx i thought they were a peice or tw away from bein a champion or at least gettin out the west 10. taj gibson- just because im a chicago guy and he was the best rookie pf last year and hes goin to mature quick into an allstar hes easily a startin pf in this leauge and he plays d so bosh better watch out he comin for that number one spot
