lakesidebenParticipantI wouldn’t be surprised to see Minnesota going on a second half run. Now that they’re healthy, they are fairly deep except for some questions at PF. Skip doesn’t seem interested in adding a .200 season to his resume, and Garnett is going to drill seargent those kids. It sounds like he might be interested in getting in management or partial ownership someday and add in his hyper competitiveness….somewhere Anthony Bennett is shitting his pants. Rubio, Martin, and Pek are going to be rested and hopefully finally healthy.
If finishing at the bottom of your division was indicative of future championships, the Wolves would be a dynasty. While it would be nice to get a 25% chance to get Okafor, there is more to be said of trying to start a culture of winning. The other way hasn’t been working.

festar35ParticipantThey are a talented team.
My starting unit would be Rubio, Martin, Wiggins, Garnett and Pekovic then they have solid bench depth with LaVine, Muhammud, Bennett and Dieng. Really nice rotation of players and KG will light a fire under them no doubt.

BiggysmallsParticipantIt depends on what you define as a "second half run". I think the Wolves finish the year with around 20 wins or so. I’m not a Thad fan, but they’ve downgraded that spot. Rubio looks good because we’ve been watching the abomination that is Zach Lavine play PG all year but he’s still a limited player. Pek is a limited player and Martin is a limited player.
I think the key the rest of the year is to forcefeed either Payne or Bennett minutes because we will be in a position to draft a guy like Towns, Turner, Looney or the big euro porzingas (didnt look up his name) so we need to know what we’ve got there.
I do agree that establishing a culture of winning might not be the worst idea and the NBA won’t let us get two top picks in a row because of course that wouldn’t be good for the league, so hoping to get lucky in the lottery is pointless.

imAboutDatActionParticipantIf i was a Wolves fan, i’d want Flip Saunders to go away. They can potentially rebuild pretty nicely, but Flip will ruin it.
He’s a dinosaur in terms of NBA schemes and already dealt two first round picks for freaking Thad young and Adrien Payne. Young was dealt for washed up KG and Payne is 24 & sucked in the D-league.
So i won’t be surprised if they ended up playing themselves out of a top-3 pick. Flip will find a way to fck it up.

nzsiderParticipantTwolves need a quality shotblocker.
Whether they get that through a draft or trade it doesn’t matter.
I think if they feed their youngsters some minutes potentially they can increase their trade value (namely Bennett & Payne) and they can get a real PF and C.
You ain’t going nowhere in the West without a strong front court.

BiggysmallsParticipantThe need to get a 4 man with range defensively. They won’t be able to deal away Pekovic and if you have him as a starting Center, they need a Power Forward that can cover ground, handle pick’n’roll game, and contest shots in the paint. That shouldn’t be confused with "shot blocker"
