DanEboyParticipantInstead of an All American team, who are your 5 most important players in college. For instance, Kyrie Irving being lost for the year is a big hit for Duke but they can still win the title without him.
So who are the 5 guys that, if they went down, their team would be crippled beyond hope? I have mine but I want to hear yours.

sammybuckeye13ParticipantRick Jackson.
Onuaku graduated, in the preseason 7-footer Da’Shonte Riley (who started in the tournament) got injured for the year, and Fab Melo has played like garbage. Jackson is averaging 14 and 12 and 2 blocks. Without him Cuse would be lost.

Moon RiverParticipantBucky would be in serious trouble without 6"10 John Leur scoring 19 a game.

JNixonParticipantJacob Pullen, Kemba Walker, Demetri McCamey, Jimmer Fredette, and Derrick Williams are the 5 most important players to their teams in the nation IMO.

sammybuckeye13ParticipantKawhi Leonard: The sole reason San Diego State is an elite team. Without him they’d be a mediocre mid-major club.
Kemba Walker: The stats speak for themselves.
Derrick Williams: He has AZ at 9-2 and tied for 1st in the Pac-10. He’s averaging 19.2 points per game. The second leading scorer on the team? He’s averaging 8.7.
Jimmer Fredette: His scoring ability gives 10-0 BYU a chance to beat any team on any given night. They could still be a good team in MW without him, but with him they’re a contender.

Mr. 19134ParticipantThis is hard because their are so many good teams and great players that lead them. Like San Diego State wouldn’t even be considered a Tourney team let alone a top 25 team without Leonard. Illinois would have no hope without Meechy. Syracuse’ Zone wouldn’t be as effective without Jackson. Ohio State got no post presence on offense without Sullinger. Baylor don’t have that weapon who can hit clutch shots with the game on the line without Dunn. John Leaur is Winsconsin’s whole team and a sleeper draft candidate who will shoot up the board with his NBA ready stretch 4 ability.
But I think the single most important player in college basketball both to their team and the league is Kemba Walker. UCONN goes as he goes this year just as somebody predicted over the summer Walker will be a top National Player of the Year Candidate and probably wins it if the season ended today. But UCONN is a threat to win both their conference and a threat to beat any team in the nation with Walker in tow. Without Walker they don’t even come close to winning 15 games this year.

mikeyvthedonParticipantKemba Walker: He has been incredibly important to the Huskies, and without him I think they are a very average team, even with Shabazz Napier looking like a solid PG also.
Jimmer Fredette: Has carried BYU these past couple of years.
Malcolm Delaney: Virginia Tech always seem to be on the bubble, and Delaney is what will carry them to the tournament if they make it this year.
Chris Singleton: His numbers have dropped off from the start of the year, but he is hands down what makes FSU a probable tourney team, maybe even one of the better teams in the top 25.
Derrick Williams: Improved on a fantastic freshman season and completely carries these Wildcats at the current time. I believe they would have little to no chance at the tournament otherwise, but they do with the odds on favorite for Pac-10 POY.
Honorable Mention: Kenneth Faried: One of the NCAA’s best rebounders over the past few years, no one would be talking about Morehead St if it were not for him.
Rick Jackson is a solid pick thus far as well, Syracuse has a deep stable of guards and wings, but Jackson’s play thus far has been beyond my expectations for sure and has to have raised his draft stock immensely on a Cuse team that has a lot less up front than people thought.

Mr. 19134ParticipantIs Kenneth Faried the next Paul Milsap? I really like Faried and see him going somewhere in the 20’s on draft day. The Heat would be a perfect place for him to play.

DanEboyParticipantYeah, Kemba and Fredette are the top 2 by far. 2 top 10 teams that would fall off the map without those guys.
Rick Jackson, McCamey and Pullen are my other 3.

JNixonParticipantYeah Malcolm Delaney actually is one of the most important guys. I forgot about him for a second. Virginia Tech would be a terrible team without him. And they look like an NIT team with him as it is.
