WetalkinboutpracticeParticipantHow Y’all feel about it?
Sources confirm Nets/Celts trade that will send KG, Pierce, J Terry to Nets for 1st rounders in 2014, 2016, 2018 and K Humphries, G Wallace, Reggie Evans, Tornike Shengalia, Keith Bogans going to Boston.
– Per C. Broussard.

Wavy BagelsParticipantThe Nets looks good on paper…but how does this starting lineup:
D-Will/JJ/Pierce/KG/Lopez
get transition points and run back on defense?

Sewok15ParticipantLakers East? You have to give the ownership credit because he is spending money like he is printing the stuff but between him and Billy King it seems like this is destined for disaster.
I think from Boston’s standpoint it is an awful trade. The main reason is the 30+ million they will have to pay Wallace over the next 3 years. I don’t think the nets will be bad enough to make those draft picks all that valuable either. I would imagine all of them will be in the range of 20th or so (maybe the 2018 pick will be top 15?). It seems to me like it would have made more sense to deal Pierce and KG separately and get back either young assets or expiring contracts. I would imagine the only way KG would wave his no trade clause was to go with Pierce so It looks like Boston was in a really tough spot to rebuild from.

Wavy BagelsParticipantBottom line is that Miami, Indiana and Chiago are the favorites in the East and then it’s everyone else.

DolanCareParticipantHorrible trade for the Celtics. The Wallace contract is such a horrible tie up of money. Plus, those draft picks will be low if the Nets are going to be this flush with vets.

IndianaBasketballParticipantWow… The Celtics have officially entered rebuilding mode. I wonder if Rajon Rondo is next?

Sewok15ParticipantRumor has it they want Phil Pressey..If they get back into the 2nd round and select him Rondo can start packing as far as I am concerned.

Seamo15ParticipantCertainly not much of a long term future with all those picks gone.

Wahoo757ParticipantMy initial reaction, so eloquently put: “FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK YOU DANNY AINGE YOU SHREWD MOTHERFUCKER FUCK YOU!” I think they could’ve gotten a much better deal for KG and Pierce. Getting 3 likely late first round picks and a HORRIBLE contract which can’t be amnestied for 2 future hall of famers is not my idea of a good trade.

bobbybParticipantperfectly put, Lakers East!! I don’t like KG at the 4 , Just like I don’t like Pau at the 4. Teams are going smaller. However on offense, KG seems still have range, unlike Pau who cant hit from outside anymore.

halfdecayedParticipantcan any1 please for the love of god explain me why the celtics pulled the trigger on this shitty trade?? not even a Marshon Brooks?
0- Posted on: Thu, 06/27/2013 - 6:15pm #807822

Sewok15ParticipantThat is what I was thinking…how can’t you get Brooks? He is more valuable than any of those draft picks will likely be. I know the Nets didn’t want to trade him last year but you would think they could have gotten him considering they were sending back Pierce and Terry to play the 2.

Prime TimeParticipantMy team has been crazy tonight. Horrible trade. Horrible picks in tonight’s draft.
The Nets now have a starting 5 that have all been all stars. That’s kind of cool.
Boston gets nothing back plus Gerald Wallace’s contract.
We essentially drafted Olynyk and Colton Iverson. Great, two of the least athletic and slowest post players in the league. I’m sure they’ll fit we’ll with the slow style of Jared Sullinger. I like Sully, but I don’t see how either of those guys can be on the court with him.
Currently the Celtics consist of Rondo, Bradley, and Green.
Ainge managed to turn us into one of the worst teams in the league, I guess we just bought a ticket for the Wiggins sweepstakes.
We better not trade Rondo, too.

aamir543ParticipantOh my, at least they got Toko Shengelia, but they should’ve gotten more Euro guys. I wouldn’t have done this deal without Bojan Bogdanovich if I’m the Celtics, I would’ve asked for Ilkan Karaman as well, and I think it’s ridiculous that Boston is “rebuilding” with Wallace’s contract. I guarantee you that they could’ve gotten twice as much, because Paul Pierce is still an All-Star player, and KG can still get it done. And don’t sleep on Jason Terry as a role player off the bench. Also, Bojan Bogdanovich is really good, its scary to think that he’ll be off the bench, I think he’ll be a quality role player for the Nets next season, this team is absolutely STACKED.

bigheavyParticipantI love this trade for the Nets but, the Celtics got nothing out of this trade. It really just eliminated one low seed playoff team and created another threat in the east.

King CaluchaParticipantI think the deal doesn’t make sense in the short term. Nets 2014 1st will be in the 23-30 range. However, they also have 2016 and 2018 1sts. Don’t forget KG and Pierce will be gone in a couple of years, so the Nets should be pretty lousy after that. I know it’s a huge gamble, but a top 3 pick next draft could be worth it.

HitsterParticipantThe Nets have gone all in for maybe a two year window and Boston have got a lot of players but not a huge amount of assets apart from the picks. The Nets have kept Brooks and have drafted Plumlee so they have some younger guys around the veterans and with Jason Terry in situ gives them good bench depth.
Boston take on Wallace’s 3 years left on his deal and with Green already on the roster can they play together on court I wonder, Humphries gives them a nice expiring deal. The roster will be lottery next year but they would need luck to get a high pick and a lot will depend on the Rondo situation and who they hire to replace Doc Rivers.
Ainge has future picks and an expiring deal in Humphries so could do a deal or two to kick on rebuilding next season.
