 After signing Corey Joseph and Demarre Carrol this offseason, the Raptors gave Ross a 3 yr 31 mil extension. This season, they are bringing him off the bench for somewhere around 20 minutes, averaginf 5pts and shooting 31% from the field.

Masai Ujiri said in an interview the other day “Right or wrong, [the Ross deal] could be a bad contract, we’re not going to get every single one right, but all I’m saying is these are sometimes the risks we have to take which doesnt exactly sound like the most supporting statement from your GM. 

I know its still early in the season and im not saying they should jump ship yet, but would they be interesting in moving him? I still think he’s a guy with a good amount of upside, and in a faster-pace offense I think he could be more effective. 

Who would be interested in him on the market? I think thats a move that Philly would look to make given their current situation. Any other thoughts?

Philly has nothing to trade except picks, and unless Toronto is willing to accept 2nd round picks for him, I dont see Hinkie giving up first rounders.

a second rder from Philly is like a late first anyway. Ross may have lost confidence. I don’t know. But a change in scenery might help.. I wouldn’t mind him in Boston. Maybe under Brad Stevens, Ross would regain some ability. Not sure I would want to add his salary though.

 I think he would thrive in Philly in the fast paced offense and his shooting ability something we lack. Also his shooting ability would help our bigs out slot because he would stretch the floor. He also fits the mold of the type of player thru like big and athletic. Like the poster said above me though I don’t see heinke giving up much for him and I’m not sure he would be willing to pay 10 mil a year for him.

Would Philly give up Stauskas and their 2nd rounder for Ross? I like the potential of Ross, but he hasn’t made anything of it in the last couple years and is behind DeRozan and Carroll and comes off the bench after Joseph. That 50+ point game from Ross was one of the biggest abberrations in NBA history. He has a decent stroke, but he’s not consistent enough to hang his hat on it. Ross has the athelticism to be a Trevor Ariza type, but without the reliable shot he’s a fringe player.

The only reason I think he was extended was to provide some type of "insurance" if Derozan doesn’t get resigned after this season.

Ross needs an offensive system which doesn’t rely on him to have any creativity with the ball. He has not shown the ability to create forhinself or his teammates on a consistent basis.

I think Philly is an outlier in this case since if he was on that team he would be getting 30 plus mpg and at least 10 FG attempts. A fully focused Ross can play a Danny Green type role for playoff teams as he’s shown he can be a good defender while hitting the 3 at a good clip.
