Ok so a few months ago i created a post regarding Terrence Jones of Kentucky. I stated that i thought i felt he was not ready 4 the NBA and that imo he needed 3-4 years because even tho he has a raw perimeter game there is nothing he could contribute right away in the NBA. He withdrew his name from the draft and returned to Lexington, imo becuase he heard from scouts that nobody would take him in the top 10 where he was being  projected early on. Now looking at the latest 2012 mock i see he has fell from being a projected top 5-10 pick he is currently at 14. Im still sticking to my guns on this subject. I feel he has way 2 many holes in his game and is a undersized tweener at best. His height has been listed anywhere from 6’7 -6’10 which proably means he’s 6’8. His shot is horrible,  his ballhandling is decent, but 99% of the time he’s going left. He really has no post game to speak of as he looks more comfortable facing the basket. Reports out of Lexington are saying he’s beefed up an been hitting the weight room hard but i don’t know if thats what should be his focus becuase he would juss be considered an undersized 4. If i’m Terrence Jones im putting in major work on my perimter game and trying to make the transformation into a full time small forward. I think it will be interesting to see where or how he fits in with all the incoming and returning talent in Lexington. With Calipari gushing about Doron Lamb this summer he probably poised for a breakout season and i think Aran agrees seeing that he’s projected as a lottery pick. Also Mike Kidd-Gilchrist and Darius Miller on the wings with Anthony Davis a key piece will Jones who wasn’t shy about shooting the ball be happy with his touches??? If everyone remembers Calipari blew up at him over all the shots he was taking and ive never heard of Cool Cal losing his composure. Honestly i think last year would have been the highest Jones could have went in any upcoming draft. He reminds me of a poor man’s Marvin Williams as of right now. All the comments i got last time suggested he would be a matchup night mare for traditional PF but if his perimiter game is not really polished i don’t see how thats possible. Hopefully he proves me wrong but its only going to get tougher to stand out with all that talent in Lexington next season. What are you guys opinions??? Do you believe he will rise or drop this season as a prospect???

I think Terrence Jones will have a better more consistent year this season. We saw the type of talent he had early on last season that vaulted him into the top 5 of most draft boards. I remember Calipari saying something about how Lamb and Jones would be the two leaders of the team next year and would be the alpha dogs so I’m sure he’ll get his touches.

Also, just a tip, I noticed on a couple of your longer posts that they are hard to read. Try breaking them up into paragraphs so it is easier on the eyes.

As a basketball player, wouldn’t returning to college often make you a better basketball player? Wouldn’t you become a better basketball player if you were the star of your team rather than an 8th man on an NBA?  This is why this argument  does not make all that much sense- you reasoning that Terrence Jones should return to college is he will be a "better basketball player" would be true of almost every basketball player.

The reason a player should enter the draft is purely economic.  I don’t even know what it means that a player shouldn’t enter the draft because he will become a "better basketball player."

Terrence Jones has made one of the worst decisions of all time, and will rank up with Chris Taft as idiotic examples of guys who passed up millions of dollars so they can still not graduate college.  You prognosis of where TJ would have been drafted is not correct- he was predicted  as a top 5 pick, and would’ve been in the top 10 without a doubt.  This website now predicts him in the late teens for the 2012 draft.

Its very simple.  Last year’s draft was one of the worst drafts in history, while next will be one of the best in history.  Jones will have to play well just to get into the teens, while passing up the opportunity to be a high lottery pick this year.

He could very well end up being a Chris Taft type of mistake falling from top 3 to second round.

The point in the first paragraph about becoming a better basketball player is most likely not correct and hypothetical.  So I am deleting that lol, but the edit isn’t working.

This is more just an argument of Jones almost definetely passing millions to be a college sophomore dropout.  If you can make the argument that his 2012 draft stock will be at all near his 2011 draft stock (losing millions of dollars), I would like to hear it but they don’t appear close.

I think the staying in college thing is vastly overrated. You  have to strike while the iron is hot.

In this case staying another year is actually beneficial for TJones. He is looked at as a tweener, but I think he would be best suited to be a PF. With Gilchrist coming to Kentucky, this will force Jones to strictly play PF and improve his inside game. He already has the body to be an NBA PF (6’8 240lbs), he just needs to settle on one position which is at PF and improve from there.
