Terrance Williams will be in the pistons training  camp come October. Personally i’ve always liked him in and his defensive ability. Unfortunetely, the pistons are in a logjam at the sg-sf spot. With Daye, English, Prince, Stuckey, Middleton,  Maggette..and Singler it’ll be interesting to see who get the boot. IMO i would like to see the pistons pull the plug on the Prince experiment…and let Daye or Singler get some clock. But back to williams, i hope the pistons sign him but ill be a long shot.

I really don’t think there’s much of a logjam at the SF spot, Maggette is old, Singler isn’t that great, Prince is waning and Daye has failed to improve. There are a lot of players, but they don’t all need PT to develop, so there isn’t really a logjam.

Williams will be a good backup at the SF in my opinion, a rotation of Singler and Williams will be solid for their future, the Pistons have quietly built one of the better young cores in the NBA, it just depends on how well Lawrence Frank can develop them.

Prince is still a high quality player and a top 10 SF.

That’s far from true… He had a PER of 12.89 last year and shot 42% from the field (a career low) and averaged under 13 ppg (the first time since his 2nd season in the league)

just off the top of my head i can name 20 SF’s i’d rather have

pierce, deng, marion, wilson chandler, gallinari, granger, caron butler, grant hill, gay, kirilenko, lebron, carmelo, gerald wallace, durant, batum, thaddeus young, beasley, leonard, derozan, hayward, dorell wright and about 4-5 more who are on par with him (mbah a moute, harrison barnes, MKG, ariza, jared dudley, world peace)

i’ll take Prince over several players in your list, the thing with Prince that he’s not a player of statistics, his contribution come through in more than numbers, he’s bring leadership, experience, being complete player and intangibles things.

if he was playing for a high profile team that look to compete than you would been see how helpful player he is even at this point of his carrer, he is just a loyal player that want to stay in Detroit and help them with the rebuilding but he is still very good player.

The guy has always said we wanted to play the PG. I reckon he could cover anywhere from PG to SF both on offense and defense pretty well. He’s certainly got the talent to take the place over a lot of those guys, just gotta get his attitude right.

I don’t think he makes the team unless he has become a better shooter. I like his defense ability and court vision but I think they have that covered and personally would take Prince, Singler over him. Not sure about Austin Daye but English and Middleton seem really promising too.

Why is Prince still a Piston? He should of been gone 2 years ago.

Of the guys you mentioned Stuckey is a guard not a forward. Kim English is a pure SG. Daye and Singler are both combo forwards. I dunno where Maggette fits in here but hell probably be traded or court at the break. Middleton is a nice swingman prospect but doesn’t look ready to contribute as a rookie.

With Williams versatility on a roster lacking major talent he should stick and grlet minutes. Especially with a PG like Brandon Knight who is more of a scorer/shooter then a pg. Stuckey and Williams can iniate the offense while Knight plays off ball stretching the floor and knocking down shots.

Playing Knight, Stuckey, n Williams 2gether would provide a lot of defense to offense ops.

That’s a good question. I think the only reason Prince is still a Piston is because he already won a ring and probably doesn’t feel like moving. The Pistons likely kept Prince because he’s a solid veteran and has never been known to  cause any locker room issues.

"It’s important to keep in mind the Pistons have 15 guaranteed contracts for the coming season, so one of those players would have to go for Williams to make the team."

    From The Detroit News: http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20120920/SPORTS0102/209200491#ixzz277Prl300

He’s going to have to play very well during training camp and preseason to make the team considering they already have 15 guaranteed contracts. The Pistons have a bunch of young guys who play the shooting guard and small forward so that’s not going to help Williams out either.

It must’ve been slim pickings for Terrence’s camp.  I don’t know what his options were but he should’ve at least sought out a team that had roster spots.

I don’t like his odds at all.  IMO, he should go to Europe where he can learn the game a little more and work on his jumper.

i find it crazy T will couldnt get a better deal then this one. his potential is still pretty high if you ask me and not to mention he’s skilled plus has good size. its a shame teams didnt come running this off season…. this would be a steal for the pistons

Send prince to cleveland for Luke Walton

    Cavs reason?

They could use the leadership and they are weak at the small forward position

    Irving – Waiters – Prince – Thompson – Varejao

    Gibson – Gee – Casspi – Harangody – Zeller

    Pistons reason?

Cap space and room for the youth to play. its dayes last chance to prove himself, give him the chance since they are in a rebuilding year.

    Knight – Stuckey – Daye – Monroe – Drummond

    Bynum – English – Singler / Jerebko – Maxiell / Jerebko – Kravstov

really needs to be a "Bruce Bowen." If he is on the Spurs he is a valuable piece for a Ring Contender. Put him on the Bobcats and he is useless because there are no top scorers to create oppertunities for him.

All he can do at this point is hurt the Piston’s lottery pick position. However, I do respect DET for staying loyal to a class act that helped them win a ring.

Why didnt the Kings pick him up after he spent the end of last season in Sacremento??? I swear they’ve used a million guys at the 3 who haven’t panned out including Tyreke.
