zaphodParticipant…seems like Team Canada is cursed. Unbelievable.
It seems like Venezuela and Mexico are going to be the two teams to qualify from the Americas?? Argentina is down by 10 in their game

zaphodParticipantNow they have to hope to earn a wild card next summer. I think the talent level will be higher at the wild card tournament, so I think now they have at best a 50/50 chance of qualifying… on the bright side, the team should be better by then (and have Tristan Thompson…)
Did anyone watch the game? What happened???

sitlbitoParticipantThey don’t hope for a wild card, they are actually qualified for… a qualifying tournament. There will be 3 tournament of 6 teams before the olympics next year, winner of each tournament goes to the olympics. Canda’s tournament will likely include one european if not two, teams like:Greece,Spain,Lithuania,Croatia,Slovenia,Italy….Hard

T RexNone of these other teams have to worry about NBA training camp starting in 2-3 weeks. Except Argentina and Brazil, and just a few guys.
But Wiggins did not seem to step it up.
Of course Klutch Olynyk went off for 34 points on 13 shots, with 13 rebounds, but that’s to be expected in any big game. That’s why KO was always on the court in the 4th quarter when the Celtics went 24-12 the second half of last year.

SkalAndJamalParticipantHe’s about to be traded, likely in a package for markieff Morris or DeMarcus before the deadline. LOL

T RexYou don’t know basketball if you don’t know Kelly Olynyk.
Ever heard of the +/- stat? KO dominates that stat, across the board. Overall plus minus, plus minus per game, per 36 minutes, etc.
Just take a look at the league leaders in total +/-. It’s all the best players on the best teams, and then there’s Kelly Olynyk.
http://www.sportingcharts.com/nba/stats/individual-player-plus-minus-statistics/2014/
Scroll way way way way way down, from KO’s #40 overall, down to Giannis and Rudy Gobert, at #175 and #183 respectively. Those guys play on similar teams with similar records, but they don’t actually make the impact on winning that KO does in just 22 mpg.
This is legend in the making stuff. Bill Walton, point center version of Dirk, call it what you will, but KO is the prototype that the league is going to be searching for from here on out.
Would I trade KO for Giannis or Gobert? Heck no. KO is about to become the James Harden of centers, right down to the "occassional" rests on the defensive end.
KOs dribble driving is becoming a lot more aggressive and reckless, and that’s bad news for all the fish-out0of-water centers trying not to embarrass themselves by a nasty KO crossover and step-back-into-draw-foul.
You might as well bite your tounge on this one, because you’re just going to look as bad as all the Rudy Gobert doubters now look.

I didnt even make the rumor relax hahaahahah.
I really like how you jabbed at Rudy and then finish it with complimenting him, though.

King CaluchaParticipantClearly these young guys struggle against experience. I thought they weren’t good enough to excel in the Olympics but it’s OK. They need more experience in FIBA basketball. In 3-4 years they will be an elite team.

JV’s_pump_fakeParticipantthat foul call at the end was brutal. 3 tenths of a second left and you call a loose ball foul in a tie game?
It cannot all be blamed on the call though. Canada coughed up a 7 point lead and only one player rose to the occasion. Wiggins shot 36% in a must win game. There’s always the qualifying tournament.
Congrats to Venezuela.
I’ll get over it eventually

BEARDED-DRAGONParticipantgod damn it… i forgot this happened… got me drunkenly yelling a lil bit… shouldn’t a done that… nobody else in the bar even noticed it was on…
oh well, when we talk about good young teams in the nba, like the jazz, wolves, bucks, etc… canada has got to have one of the brightest futures for international play. if everyone commits, they will definitely make a few olympics and maybe just maybe get some hardware. i never expected they would be getting a medal next summer, but with some luck hopefully they still get in and get the experience.

OaktownWarriorsParticipantI like Team Canada, however there just not that good. Overall, in world rankings….I would put them at maybe #8 in the world.
