Watching them play right now and they look good.. joseph stauskas wiggins bennet and olynik is a solid line up. Bennet is 3 for 3 from downtown and actually look like he might contribute this year.. they might be better than Greece.

"actually looks like he might contribute this year…"

this exact sentence, verbatim, was used last year, and will be used again next year, and the year after that

To Greek-Baller, talent wise they have a solid team, just like Italy does when you look at Galinari, Bellineli, Bargnani, Gentile. But do they play like a team, how is their team defense, how well do they move the ball… Because Italy just faced Serbia and they lost by 20 even though they had way more NBA players one their roster then Serbia did. I feel that Greece would beat Canada by 15. I am just looking at it from the basketball perspective, because no one on the Canadian team is good enough YET, to just absolutely take the game over especially not on the international level, and they hvaent played enough together yet to be able to gel the way some of the other international teams do.

Canada has a VERY VERY bright future if they continue to produce players the way they are now, but for international competition your team needs to be a team first.

Anyone who has watched Team Canada at the FIBA Americas tournament would see that they are all about the team.

The team first attitude is what has them rolling right now. They are sharing the rock, playing aggressive and filling it up from 3 point range.

If this team continues to play this way and are just scratching the surface, they are going to be scary good when they’ve matured.

Canada has scored over 100 points 5 times, allowed 100 points just once, and lead the tournament in points scored. Leading the tournament in rebounding as well.

      Just sayin…

The majority of this team, with the exception of the BC boys have been playing together in the aau scene since they were little kids. It makes sense they would be so organized and play together.

Just 1 more year until the Olympics and you will understand what i mean when they have to play against European powerhouses and the US team.

I’ve been watching all their games. Against Argentina they put everyone against Scola and he still scored at will. They are all about the team in terms of sharing the shots, but I just don’t see good ball movement, they’re winning due to athleticism. Right now, I don’t see them doing well in the Olympics, but of course the talent is there. Maybe in 4-5 years this could be the team who gives the US a run for their money.

    Some notable:

     Heslip is deadly from 3.

    – Stauskas struggles against athleticism

    – Bennet turned out to be a solid post up defender… at least for this level. I don’t see any other thing he does well enough to thrive in the NBA.

    – Olynyk is an underrated passer.

    – Wiggins… so athletic. It’s like he jumps and it takes forever for him to come down. His pull up from midrange is money.

Olynyk is showing flashes of being a more aggressive dribble-driver. One really nice coast to coast bucket, followed by a really nice first step on another drive in the half court. After the nice first step, Olynyk pulled a NASTY cross-over step back, got the guy up in the air, and then drew the foul.

Olynyk is just starting to tap into his potential as a scorer and facilitator off the dribble, and probably in a year or two he’ll be able to take over some games in international and even NBA games.

And he has the perfect coaches in Steve Nash and Brad Stevens to fully develop his offensive arsenal. Most deadly will be his scoring off the dribble.

Sure Team Canada is better, but no way are they ready to medal in Rio!  Canada vs. Spain!  Canada vs. France Canada vs. Serbia, Canada vs Brazil or Canada vs. USA.   Again they’re playing alot better and are fun to watch.

I think they cOuld beat brazil for sure now.  They won’t medal, but they should be close to geTting to the bronze medal game, maybe losing in the game that the winner will go play for bronze. 2020, watch out with Murray!
