valentineI’m sick of people saying he is only in the NBA because of his last name. He has already proved some of you wrong who said he wouldn’t even make the roster. I’m just curious does anyone agree with me??

PlayDog7ParticipantI agree, watched him play and besides Blake and Willie Warren, he was the best option to score baskets. He is vastly overshadowed by his brother and rightly so, but he can play ball and can be a body that a team can put in to give someone a rest and not have to really worry about him making too many mistakes.

sheltwon3ParticipantI think he is that perfect hustle guy and smart player that helps you off the bench. In the way the nba is shaping with so many talented player being drafted and some guys still able to play well in their mid to late 30’s, you need these guys because not everyone can the star player. Some players are ineffective unless they get minutes and shots. There potentially 450 spots available in the NBA every and most of the spots are taken and then you have a 60 player draft where 30 guys are guaranteed to be sign for 2 years. You also have players that have improved or are free agents that get signed for cheap to little so with that and also you have 5 spots on the floor at all time and only 48 minutes on the average and you don’t have enough time for everyone to be the man. Your bench players have to be specialist now and bring energy. After next year, a team that does not have a legit full starting 5 has stupid management because there is enough star talent for every team to have a nice starting unit and some team like Portland, Wizards, and some other will be able to have 2 solid unit because of their bench talent level and depth.

butidonthavemoneyHe is like a less athletic Patrick Ewing Jr.
I doubt he gets any playing time but he will bring a little hard work, defense and toughness to the Suns at practice. He is the type of player you want to represent your team, even if he doesn’t have NBA talent.

the microwaveParticipantarent the suns packed with hustle players? Not to knock griffins game…. Amundson, Lopez… are two bigs who come to mind who are hustle players, i guess u cant ever have enough of them. Probably a great practice player.

JNixonParticipantHe actually isn’t a hustle guy at all…. I watched him against Golden State and he DID absolutely zero on the court that game. He simply isn’t an NBA player at all. He made no hustle plays and he has no offensive game. He is below average at everything for the NBA, not trying to knock him or anything but it’s the truth.

llperezTaylor is not an nba player in my eyes. Amundosn, Dudley and Lopez will probably all play more then him. I just don’t see him lasting more then 1 season, if that.

MagikKnickParticipantTaylor Griffin is not an NBA player at all, and simply got drafted based on his name..
Hes one of the “bottom 5” players in the NBA with a guaranteed contract

catoosanumber22He IS an NBA player.maybe a 12th man,but he is.it’s not a coincidence he is in the NBA and u guys probably didn’t even make ur high school teams
0 - Posted on: Wed, 10/14/2009 - 3:22pm #221783

llperezcatoosanumber22, what does he bring to the table for an nba team? He was an average college player. I was surprised he was even drafted.

JNixonParticipantWhat does anyone not making their high school team have to do with this anyway? You sound pretty childish…or you have some kind of man crush of Taylor Griffin of all players…

quincey hodgeswow iggy..after one game you figure he doent belong in the nba?..im glad you rent a scout for my lakers..lol…as far as him being in the leaquge obviously he did work in workout and in partice against other vets on the team to make then sign him. teams sign these players because they are talented and brings something to the team that they either lack or that they dont have enough of.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 10/14/2009 - 4:57pm #221830

MagikKnickParticipantInteresting how no one can explain what he brings to an NBA team, let alone the Suns
0 - Posted on: Wed, 10/14/2009 - 4:59pm #221832
quincey hodgespeople have said what he brings and others on here said they dont agree..hustle defense etc..obviously we know who right since he was signed to a contract..pretty much common sense since hes not 7’5

Michael.S.ParticipantOk im tired of hearing about this guy, if his name was Taylor George and he was the exact player he is now, we wouldnt hear shit about him anywhere, He is NOT an NBA talent, If you honsetly think he is your Kooo-Kooo, he is a scrub-adub-dub
0 - Posted on: Wed, 10/14/2009 - 5:07pm #221836

llperezquincey, I don’t think just because he got a one year deal makes him an nba player. i can make a list all day of guys who got one year deals and were not able to cut it as nba players. Sun Yue, Dijion Thompson, Sam Bluthenthal, etc… like I said, just getting some money to ride the bench for one year does not make you an nba level player in my book. Only time will tell if he is cut out for the league and I’m guessing not.

quincey hodgesmike mike you make zero sense…so he made the nba because of his name?..how many guys have brothers that play ball but dont makeit?..how come chris webbers brother didnt make it? shaq oneal?..and both of them was allstars ..oneal being a hall of famer
HOENIX – The Phoenix Suns today announced the signing of forward Taylor Griffin, the club’s second-round selection (48th overall) in the 2009 NBA Draft.
“Taylor is an excellent athlete, a hard worker and very much team-oriented,” said Suns President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Steve Kerr. “He fits right in with the kind of people we want in our organization, and he has a chance to develop into a very good player
just because a fan thinks a player doent belong means absolutly nothing seeing as none of ya’ll are there in practice or workouts. just liek some players arent nba players ome are..so im not seeing the point of naming guys who arent when i can name guys who are.

Michael.S.ParticipantThere’s this new thing…….wanna know what it’s called?……..it’s called reading, yes read-ing…….you should try it
“hearing about this guy, if his name was Taylor George and he was the exact player he is now”
my exact words, I said it’s the only reason were discussing him, yes the exact player he is now

Michael.S.Participantplus, ive been on this forum for how long? and you guys still don’t know my username?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 10/14/2009 - 5:24pm #221848

llperezquincey, I mentioned guys who did not prove to be nba players even though they signed gauranteed one year deals because you stated that “obviously we know who right since he signed a contract”. This is an argument about whether he will make it as an nba player and it really is just opinion at this point. But to state that you are right because he has a contract has some flaws to it.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 10/14/2009 - 5:28pm #221849
quincey hodgesmy point is im right because he can play. and i dont view someone not playing alot as not a nba player..maybe because i have a different view from being a fan as well as a player who has played professionally so i tend not to make light of the fact of making it to the nba and it kinda bothers me when people with very lil to know basketball ability make say thing like someone cant play or shouldnt be in the nba when they have worked hard and deserve the contract that they get…and mike calm down who cares if peopel spell youre name wrong..happens to all of us so dont get so butt hurt
0 - Posted on: Wed, 10/14/2009 - 5:32pm #221852
Michael.S.ParticipantIm not mad……….it’s just u said i made zero sense, yet you misunderstood my whole post………….don’t get so nut hurt

JNixonParticipantThat wasn’t the 1st time I’d ever seen him play…so no, I didn’t pass judgment on him from that one game. It was, however, the 1st NBA I saw him play, and he looked completely out of place as I expected. I agree with mikenike, if he had a different last name you can’t convince me he would’ve been drafted, and he definitely would’nt have been signed to a deal. The Suns give guys that aren’t NBA talents guaranteed deals, like DJ Strawberry, Alando Tucker, and Pat Burke alot more than any other team. Doesn’t mean the players are great or anything.

AirJuggernautCompare him to Paul Harris who reffined his jump shot and can
make hustle plays and has the quickness and athleticism to make a jumpshot
maybe a younger
Desmond Mason (never did learn how to shoot)
and then say that he isn’t in the NBA
bcuz of politics. He is sooooo slow on defense (and that’s from watching him in college).
PHX is in rebuilding mode
and they wanted a name that people can identify with.
It’s as simple as that.
he better not take Sweet Lou Amundson’s P.T. or I’ll be pi55edPaul Harris>Desmond Mason
Taylor Griffin ???0

marcusfizer21ParticipantI was scratching my head the moment he was drafted… Then I began to make the theory that the only reason why he was drafted was because he’s Blake’s brother… I saw him play and I felt like he fits better in Euroleague… The NBA’s talent level is too athletic and strong for guys like him… I remember Josh Duncan who was a good ball player but he never made it into the NBA and was said to fit well in Europe…
