Taran Armstrong a 6’6 point guard from Australia is a freshman for California Baptist…Averaging 13 pts/9.assts/7 rbs, 60% on 2s, 31% beyond the arc and had a triple double against San Jose……Taran Armstrong Is a name you will soon beginning to hear more about as the season rolls on..He leads the NCAA in assists with 9.2 a game. But isnt listed amongst the NCAA Leaders becuz Cal Baptist a former D-2 School is entering its fourth year of a 5 year process in reclassifying from D-1 to D-2. Cal Baptist Lancers aren’t eligible for any post season play or any NCAA Statistical Rankings…

Josh Giddey was a prospect whose stock elevated to number 6 in the 2021 draft..So far Giddey has been 1 of the top 5 rookies. And along with guard SAG,he appears to be on the verge of 1 of the foundations for OKC.. Armstrong has played himself unto nba draft radars, if you didnt know better ,you would think its Giddey himself….Both Giddey & Armstrong are 6’6 ,have a similar lanky frame, black hair,Ball handling wizardry, passing skills and the same weaknesses….

During California Baptist previous 5 games, Armstrong has is responsible for 45% of their field goals.. Draft experts Mike Schmitz are fans of Armstrong.. Chad Ford called him the best passer for the 2022 draft….Schmitz said he’s a pick & roll magician..

I Really hope This Site create a Draft profile for him. soon.

Haven’t heard of him, but I know he is getting great coaching with my boys Coach Croy and Coach Asprilla.

He looks good. Does he have Giddey type talent? Should be interesting to watch him develop.

Also I really don’t think OKC has any foundations. They are just collecting assets and hoping to eventually get a 1st overall pick.

Warched a bunch more of his highlights. How did this dude end up playing at CBU? Theres gotta be some sort :your “uncle” gets a job as a ball boy/assistant coach with a salary 10x higher than our head coach deal going on here.

Croy is a very connected coach has the Aussie ties from when he was at St. Mary’s as an assistant.

Looked solid last night getting 15 dimes and nearly a triple double. The WAC is pretty solid at the top this year.

I’m from Australia, and the first I heard of him was last week! He’s definitely flown under the radar. He does give off a Giddey-like vibe too. The way he plays, with the floater and those passes he flings across court definitely look like Giddey from afar.

Yeah I watched some of the game. Didnt have the best stream so I couldnt finish it but they ended up getting blown out anyways. Arizona might be the best team in the country. Mathurin is so well rounded.

Anyways Taran isn’t assertive enough. Watched him in two games now Arizona and Texas and he seemed to always differ. When he is he is a real handful. Reminds me more of Lamelo Ball than Josh Giddey. I feel like Giddey uses his teammates as obstacles in a way, moves them around to maneuver his way through the defense while Lamelo is more capable of breaking down his defender one on one. Not to say Giddey cant do what Lamelo does or vice versa just seems like their preferences.

Taran has a great first step, quick tight handles and excellent court vision but to be as good as Giddey there has to be a sort of alpha feature about you.
