-Rubio- I can’t believe he fell to 5. Great value with the pick. The Foye, Miller trade seems more equal now. Sac-town went with the safer pick in Evans and I think that they were as well as Memphis and OKC maybe perhaps scared of by the fact that rubio doesn’t want to play for a small market team. I really don’t know if this is true or not but it may be. Although Memphis does have conoley and OKC westbrooke at PG. I think his buyout maybe an issue but i also believe khan was in a posititon to take a risk on a guy that may not want to come over right away or may not want to be in minnesota all together however Rubio’s name alone has alot of value even though he hasn’t played a minuet in the Leauge. Khan defeinetly made a splash with this pick. Rubio is very young and i personally would like to see him stay and play this year just so i could be excited to go to a T wolves game. I think khan knows the value of putting buts in seats and selling jerseys. With that being said I will be buying a Rubio jersey provided he can show some enthusiasm to be here like Flynn. I understand Rubio is a star in Spain but it’s alot different playing with the big boys in the NBA as apposed to always getting your way on your own terms. Here in the good old US of A you have to earn it. Besides all of the above and the negativatiy surrounding Rubio since last night, He is special not many players at 18 show the “Clowning” ablility that he has on other players granted in the euro leauges. If he had played one year in college “Next year” (so young) he would have been the No.2 pick this year and next year as well behind Wall maybe.

-Flynn- I like this kid. Great in the interviews which doesn’t hold much on the court but he seems like he was happy and ready and willing to play and go anywhere. Top PG after rubio in some peoples mind but i think jennings has better potential. Still a guy with alot of heart and i know no one wants to here it an insurece policy on Rubio. We will see come July 8-9 with the Free Agency period begining. Some say He or Rubio is on there way out. Could be but we will wait and see. Call me crazy but he reminds me alot of Nate Robinson of The knicks. Small, fast and incredably athletic and a competitor.

The T’wolves made kind of a weird draft. 4 point guards (2 traded but still 4 PGs), a shooting guard and a power forward.

They got luck on Rubio. In fact he screw up his own draft by saying he doesn’t want to play in Memphis after the lottery, not going to combine/workouts… He believed he’ll go to the Kings, with pleasent weather and a weak team where he’ll be able to play a lot. But he didn’t conviced them, too bad. Now he’s in Minnesota, a cold city, with the 5th pick so less money to buyout this contract (well, his spanish team are jerks but that’s another story). But the Wolves needs PG so he’ll fit well.

Then, the Flynn pick is weird. 2 PG back to back, uh ? It sounds crazy, even more when Kahn says they’ll be able to play together. But it’s not that weird in fact. Rubio will probably go back to Spain for a year or 2, and that will be the best for everyone. Look : Flynn will play PG next year, if he’s great, well, Rubio could be traded for high value. If he’s not that great, we still have a great PG in Rubio, and Flynn will be traded or kept as back-up. Moreover, the next coach could test Flynn as a 2 guard with Telfair or Brown (if he stays) at the point. So it might be possible that Rubio and Flynn play together. If both Rubio and Flynn become bad players, Kahn will get a Kevin McHale award.

After that, the 18th pick of Ty Lawson traded to Denver was a good idea, this draft was weak so getting a pick for the next one is smart. There were no good player available for this pick (out of another PG).

Then Wayne Ellington at 28 was fine. The team had no SG anymore and he’s a great shooter. He won’t be a starter but could become a good role player off the bench.

With second round, they took 2 players who’ll play in Europe next year so no risks. The roster is loaded so it was nice. They could have keep Calathes, he’s great combo guard and could have been useful. Norel will never play in Minnesota with Jefferson and Love.

So, in the end, the roster :
PG : Flynn, Telfair, Brown*, Rubio*
SG : Ellington
SF : Brewer, Gomes, Cardinal
PF : Jefferson, Love, Pescherov, Songaila, Smith
C : Thomas

Still work to do in free agency : Getting a SG is a must-be. They could resign Carney or check for someone else (no idea who is free agent at this position). There’s too much PF but Love, Songaila or Pescherov will play as centers IMO.

A new coach could be a nice idea, too.

I love Flynn but not picking Rubio/Flynn back to back. If they really needed an insurance policy/Rubio backup just keep Lawson. I think they LOVE Flynn and the plan is to trade Rubio. I don’t buy what Kahn is saying about them playing together for a second. Wish they would have traded down from 6. With Flynn and Curry on the board I have to think there were opportunities to do that. As a Wolves fan it is nice to see more young talent on the team and it will make for an interesting off season.
