Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantWhen healthy, Yao Ming was unstoppable and was the best center in the league. I’d say he is a superstar.
I would say Chris Webber, Joe Johnson, John Stockton, Paul Pierce are/were all superstars. I didn’t watch much Joe Dumars so I wouldn’t know. I think Arenas, Francis, Gasol are good 2nd options. Jermaine O’Neal was a top big man but I don’t think he was completely there.

Ghost01ParticipantChris Webber was most definitely a superstar. He was right behind KG and TD when he was at his peak.

ProudGrandpaParticipantJohnson’s not a superstar. He’s at the very top of the second tier, but his team hasn’t had enough success and his numbers aren’t good enough
Stockton is for sure
O’neal slowed down the Pacers offense to a crawl and may have made them worse so hes no superstar

Ghost01ParticipantMy thing with J O Neal is, he was pretty damn close in 2004 to being the best player on a championship winning team. People forget this.

CodySLCParticipantI can tell you John Stockton shouldn’t even be on that list of players. All time leader in assists and steals. I think thats enough said.

4th dimensionSuperstar = Franchise Player. Is John Stockton a franchise player? Is he a player that you build around or start your franchise with? Stockton to me is not a franchise player, there for I can’t consider him a superstar.

K.LOVE THE ALLSTARWhats considered a franchise player?..If you build a team around a guy you say is a superstar and they don’t win or even get to the NBA championship game how is he different then another star who had a team built around him and can’t get out of the first round of the playoffs? If you can’t win it or come close to winning it and a team is built around you are you still considered a franchise player just because a team is built around you?

Ghost01ParticipantJohn Stockton got to 2 NBA finals. I guess the only franchise guys since 1990 are Kobe, Wade, Duncan, Shaq, Billups, Jordan, and Hakeem, since you have to win and be the best player to be a franchise guy. Kind of absurd if you ask me.

CodySLCParticipant4th dimension, Dude are you serious? He got to the finals twice. In the playoff basically every year he played. He’s 13ppg,10.5apg, 2spg and over 50% from the floor. Thats counting his last 6 years of his career were he only played about 30mpg. In my opinion he’s a top 5pg of all time. If thats not a super star idk if their many players who are.

DanEboyParticipant4th dimension, you don’t have to be flashy and a media whore to be a superstar. John Stockton was, without a doubt, a superstar and someone you build a team around. Are you even old enough to have watched him play?

4th dimensionSo your telling me Stockton had the ability to carry a team on his back? Without a help of another superstar(Malone), your telling me Stockton can carry the Jazz all by himself? Because that’s what superstars do. Lebron,Kobe, Chris Paul, DRose, Wade, are all capable of dominating and carry their team on their back, Stockton was not that type of player nor he had the ability to do so.

DanEboyParticipantThere are certain questions that can never be answered. Stockton always had malone so we will never know. MJ couldn’t win without Pippen….does that make him less of a superstar? What has Chris Paul won? Wade had Shaq and hasn’t won anything without him. Kobe won with Shaq and Gasol but couldn’t do it without them. LeBron didn’t win a title in Cleveland. Rose hasn’t won anything yet.
I can’t think of one superstar who won a title by himself. Everybody needs help.

4th dimensionYou don’t have to have a championship to be a superstar. I define a superstar for having “franchise player” ability. Lebron has never won a ring but he is a superstar/franchise player. Stockton was not a franchise player. I would rather start my franchise with DRose over Stockton, because I want my franchise player to have the ability to carry a team on his own.

4th dimensionFranchise passing ability and franchise game control ability? There is no such thing, I think you meant Stockton had ELITE PASSING ABILITY AND WAS A GREAT GAME MANAGER. When its crunch time and the game is on the line, I really doubt Stockton is one of the names people mention.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipant4th dimension do you consider Steve Nash and Jason Kidd Superstars? Because both of them have shown the ability to carry teams and are widely considered superstars by the media and most fans.
Stockton was Nash with better defense. And he was Kidd with a better shot and not quite the rebounding ability.
