I’ve been thinking about what I would do if I were the Suns GM… Here is what I have come up with so far…

    #4 – Jamal Murray

    #13 – Wade Baldwin

    Trade Bledsoe & #28 for ???

    Roatation could look like this…

    PG – Murray/Baldwin

    SG – Booker/Knight

    SF – Warren/Tucker

    PF – ???/Leur (assuming he re-signs. I think he is a UFA)

    C – Chandler/Len

Again, this is what I would do if I were the GM. Bledsoe has been injury plagued throughout his career but still has value.  I would move Knight to the bench and have him be the 6th man playing more of a Jamal Crawford roll. The Murray/Booker/Warren combo will provide shooting/scoring that could be a very lethal offense. Chandler holds down the middle. The bench would be solid IMO. I guess my question is who could you get at PF for Bledsoe & #28? The only name coming to mind is Thaddeus Young. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If the Suns take two guards with those picks they have proven to be incompetent. I understand trying to trade Bledsoe/ Knight but I wouldn’t just give them away for the sake of doing it. They have booker, and is Bogdan coming over? Anyway, they have enough guard play, I’m taking Bender or trading back a few for Brown for upside. With 13 if Bender goes 3 I’d look at Sabonis and Ellenson because they are good passing bigs, who can kick it out to Booker and all the other perimeter players. If they do get Bender I think at 13 they should just take BPA.

I think Bender is going #3 so I’m not even considering him ATM.

And I’m not sold on Brown. I wouldn’t draft someone based off potential/athleticism alone. Look at his field goal percentage from his last 5 college games…

      2 for 9

      3 for 10

      1 for 6

      3 for 17

      1 for 6

I know thats a small sample size, but he won’t get away with just being athletic in the NBA. The NBA values shooting now more than ever.  And I’m not sold on any of the other big guys in this draft.  That just my opinion. So I’m taking Murray and Baldwin. Two solid shooters to go along with Booker and Knight, then looking for a big via trade. Again, just my personal line of thought.

According to this site you can easily get Baldwin at 28….but I don’t believe that personally.

If there is one thing you can take away from viewing different mock drafts it’s that no one really knows how good these players will be.  One site might have a guy in the lottery while the next has him in the mid second round.  I think too much stock is placed on potential. Some really good players fall due to their age or lack of potential.  What’s wrong with being a really good role player? For example, Taureen Prince, to me, looks like a guy who will never be a star but should have a really solid NBA career.  Just because players are slotted to be lottery picks doesn’t mean they are guaranteed to have an NBA career.

Drafting at 4, I think if you want anyone other than Bender, Hield or Murray, you can trade down get your player. I think Bender is a lock to go there if he’s on the board. If he’s gone, considering they have Bledsoe, Knight and Booker, they should be moving it. They can still get the forward they need down a few spots. I think they should target teams who are in that no mans land – too good for the lottery and not good enough for playoff success.

If the suns are set on taking another guard then they should consider taking Ulis later in the draft and drafting a big with the 4th pick.  Ulis is a true pg and not a combo guard.  Not to mention that Booker and Ulis are bff’s

The 13th pick has to be a bigmen no matter what you did at 4th, eurostash Bender, Dunn true point(a lead guard traded) Murray lead guard(a lead guard traded) or Brown(team need).

5 options IMO, my favorites are Davis and Sabonis, Davis long term project, 2 way PF-C, defensive anchor or Domantas, nba ready, rotational big for years as a worst case scenario, suns with the worst inside game in the nba, he contributes right away…

Then 3 gambles, Skal, Money Maker and Chriss. I liked Skal a year ago for a reason, i liked Chriss after the season for a reason, and he’s 18, Thon Maker pure boom or bust.

I think these 3 need a good environement, leadership and time, more suited for a veteran/winning team.

I’m pretty high on ellenson but not for the suns.

With the 28th pick, eurostash if not bender at 4, with the 34th pick i want my man Hayes as a tweener, 3rd stringer.

Personnally i would take Brown, i like the contrast with Booker, one smart, finesse, scorer-shooter-playmaker, one strong-athletic-explosive slasher, hustler with 2 way potential, underrated, developing skills.

Both are high character, well spoken 19yo guys, work ethic should be there, 2 building blocks if developed properly.

On the other hand, the team badly need a 3rd string PG, true floor general Ulis or Jackson (the bledsoe clone), probably not available at 28 tho.

    Brown-bigmen-Eurostash-BPA

Not interested in Murray(for the suns) he’s another lead guard, already 2 on the roster, + booker and bodanovic are more than solid playmakers at the 2, the only 2 way player of the bunch is Bledsoe, but he’s fuckin injury prone…

Not interested in Dunn, there’s better prospects in the next draft, but at least i give him the fact that he’s a true point…and he’s tough.

An option only if bledsoe or Knight are traded for a proven PF…

You can’t play 5 rookies, i’ll go 1 or 2 rookies in the rotation + bogdanovic(he knows how to play), an eurostash and a 3rd stringer/d-leaguer in year 1.

Next year, better draft, drafting strictly "BPA"at the 1-3-4-5 spots.
