FastAndFuriousParticipantWho you got?
Of course from the eye test it probably would be Bledsoe, but I think physically Westbrook is the strongest PG in the league, with D-Will being second, Bledsoe being 3rd and Rose being 4th and Paul being 5th.
Honroable Mention:
Nate Robinson
Kyle Lowry
Raymond Felton

IndianaBasketballParticipantI think it’s Derrick Rose. He’s got that strong build, especially upper body. Strong core. Strong base. He’s built like a running back.

FritzParticipantHe’s out of the league now but Earl Boykins could have been in the discussion. Weighed 133 and could bench press 315

FastAndFuriousParticipantI understand you guys putting Earl Boykins and Nate Rob, but they would get bullied by guys like Westbrook,Rose,Bledsoe,Williams, etc.

B-ball fanParticipantMaybe, but that doesn’t mean that Robinson isn’t stronger than Rose, as he likely is, he just isn’t as big. I’d say Eric Bledsoe is probably the strongest in the league, but Robinson isn’t far behind. Their lack of size, however, means they can’t simply bull their way into the lane, like Deron Williams can.
In a year, Marcus Smart could be the answer to this question, assuming he plays the point in the NBA. His ability to muscle his way to the rim is a huge asset to his game. Right from the get-go, his physicality should cause problems for other PGs.

TyroberParticipantHow do you measure strength? I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if Nate Robinson could bench and squat the most of any point guard in the league. Really just depends on your definition of strength. In game strength of pushing and going through opponents wouldn’t be Nate Robinson

Forte IVParticipantAndre Miller comes to my mind almost immediately. Same with Chauncey back in the day. Both can/could post you up to get where they want.

ChrispyParticipantThere are different types of strength, too. There is explosive strength, such as found in the compact human-fire hydrant that is Nate Robinson and in the bigger Bledsoe. There is wiry strength, such as with guys like Westbrook. There is also that innate ‘grown man strength’ that some dudes just have, like Andre Miller and Billups. Just saying there is different types, so maybe more than one “Strongest”.

IndianaBasketballParticipantThat’s why I went with Derrick Rose. I feel he has a great combo of all of the different strength types.
He’s always had that grown man strength. He’s got great size at 6′ 3″ 200+ lbs. He’s always had a great build, especially upper body wise. I don’t think he benches the most, but I’m sure he can bench plenty. Same with squatting.
And considering the type of of athlete he is, you know his explosive strength and his core strength are amazing.

Chilbert arenasParticipantIf Jason Kidd was still playing I’d say him. Andre Miller is up there with Deron Williams and Nate. Please don’t confused low body fat percentage for strength. Yes Russell Westbrook is strong, but he looks much stronger due to his 4% body fat. There is something to be said about old man and fat man strength. That being said Marcus Smart will be up there in the a few years if you consider him a PG

Chilbert arenasParticipantTwo types of strength, absolute strength, like bench press, deadlift, squat, numbers, and relative strength, relative to the size of athlete. Shaq could probably bench a good amount but couldn’t do many pull-ups. Rose and Westbrook and powerful due to the fact that power is based of rate of force development. That being said Bledsoe it not only strong but powerful, so he’s up there as a great athlete but being strong and being powerful are not the same thing. If you can bench press 500lbs you are strong, but if the bar is moving at a slow rate it doesn’t necessarily make you powerful.

For_Never_EverParticipantIn straight bench pressing I’m likely top 3 in strength amongst my friends, but in a real game I’m one of the weaker guys because I’m a slim guy. So if you have the body weight and added if you’re taller then me too. It’s easy for someone to take advantage of me.
Gym strength – Nate Robinson
In game – Derron Williams0 - Posted on: Thu, 11/07/2013 - 11:19am #848073

For_Never_EverParticipantGym strength only adds up to so much on the court, but if you aren’t gifted with the length or girth it isn’t going to fully translate.

FastAndFuriousParticipantI forgot to put Derek Fisher on here, dude is built like an OX as well.
I don’t think Bledsoe is the strongest PG in the league, his built is the best of any PG in the league but I don’t think he’s stronger than RW0

TurnipParticipantJust going by bench reps at the combine…. Are Dominique Jones or Scott Machado still in the league? If not it’s a tie between Will Bynum, Toney Douglas, Deron Williams, and Jameer Nelson.
