Michael.S.ParticipantFor each player, the most he can possibly average in his prime in the 5 basic categories Points, Reb’s, Ast’s,Stl’s, Blk’s
Rudy Gay, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Derrick Rose, Rajon Rondo, Josh Smith,O.J. Mayo, and any more young guys you would like to add.

Michael.S.ParticipantI wanted the most the can possibly ever get, and 29.8ppg, 8.4rpg, 7.6apg, 1.6bpg, 1.5spg, LeBron has surpassed those #’s already and he not even in his prime yet. Also for a Grizz fan you are not high on Gay at all, I think he could get 30+ PPG if he reaches his potential

Michael.S.ParticipantRudy Gay is the reason im gonna watch Grizzlies games consistently this year, I predict he has a major breakout year.

d-grizzlyParticipantfixed. i don’t think gay could reach 30ppg, man it’d be cool to see, but 24-25 is more realistic as far as prime numbers. think about it, mayo is the number 1 option for the grizzlies

d-grizzlyParticipantya, i’ve been postin topics about him all summer long. i do expect him to breakout as well, but still hold to him not making the allstar team, because durant and anthony will take his spot =/

Michael.S.ParticipantI thought about it……….and still, Rudy Gay has the complete package on O already, just hasn’t reached where he had to be mentally, but this summer from what i read about the U.S.A. team and still looking at Gay’s potential capabilities, he is due to explode, O.J. Mayo is a #1 option and Gay will be this year,on. I look at that as a luxury because the both should be #1 options on any given team.

esperanzafleet69Participantim just gonna throw this out there….
derrick rose has never been one to rack up steals…. theres no way he can get 2.5 a game…
theres no way rudy gay EVER gets 2.7 blocks per game…
idk also a LOT of this would depend in the system theyre in and how many possesions the team gets per game…

Edit: Yo… how can this have more negatives than the post below me. Do you know how hard it is to average 30 points a game? Do you know how your say these players will be better than in a league moving closer to parity?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 09/08/2009 - 12:23pm #211144

MkadozaParticipantLebron averaged 30 twice. Once in his third year, at the age of 20-21 and again two years later. (Rounded up)… again some people are really optimistic with a lot of these stats. For these numbers to be capable is for a lot of these players to play at Hall of Fame caliber. Like… top 10 ever caliber. I’m not saying the potential isnt there, but you have to be extremely special to put up some of those numbers.Just my 19 cents.

0 - Posted on: Tue, 09/08/2009 - 2:05pm #211205

MkadozaParticipantThats cause Carmelo has one of the most complete offensive skillsets in the NBA. People are project 34, 35, 37 ppg… Do you know the kinds of players that have averaged that?? 30 32 max, but his body wont let him bang with the big boys, and I have never… ever seen a player that relies on his jumper that much average that many points.

JoeWolf1This is a slippery slope talking about limits. To me a statistical limit in scoring for example would be a scenario where one of these big names played for a team so awful they had to do all the work. Michael Jordan averaged 37 one year Kobe 35 one year, and they weren’t playing on teams all that bad (not good, but not horrid) when it happened. I’d put both of their “limit” at or around 40 per game. In my opinion a limit would be if Lebron played for Sacremento. I think his scoring limit would be around 35-37 ppg, I know he likes to create shots for teammates, but if he or another big name played for a bad team I think it would happen. Heck, Kevin Durant as a talented 2nd year player on a 32 win team almost put up 27 per, If he played on that caliber of team at 25 or 26 years old he would easily be dropping 33 plus per night. I’m just saying “limits” are relative, people saying these players averaging points in their 30’s isn’t unrealistic, on their current teams, in a lot of the cases “yes”, but that wasn’t specified in the post. A limit would be in a scenario that would allow them to maximize their output in each of those individual categories.
