I think it would be possible to start a team without having expansion selections just from recent former nba players and players you could acquire cheaply like future 2nd round picks
    my first four selections are
ronnie price- gives defense, can dunk, and can pass
rashad mccants- I dont know how hes not in the league except for what g.m.s percieve about his attitude
pops mensah bantu= has proven he has solid defense and rebounding
Yakhouba Diawara- was once looked at as a candidate for the nuggets 2 guard solid stroke current f.a and may be on his way out of league at this rate

    suggestions please

It would be possible but the team wouldn’t be any good, and nobody would want to play for the team. It would be very hard to raise money for it, and it just wouldn’t be profitable, all of that loosing. There is too much talent in the league nowadays for a team like that to succeed, and that talent will keep on comin’, it won’t stop. The team would not survive its first year probably.
But i would also add Wesley Matthews, and maybe Solomon Alabi to learn under Mensah Bonsu and he could possibly start over him in a couple of years.

If i remember right each team has a certain ammount of player they can keep, and you pick from the rest.

    I would pick on Portland.

    their stacked.

How many players on each team is safe again?

the way it has gone down in the past is that teams can protect 8 players who are either signed or have a team option. The rest the roster is up for grabs, but you can only take 1 player from each team, no more. Also, expansion teams have a lower salary cap for the first 2 years so they cant go out and sign all the top free agents right away. Also, they are not eligible for the number 1 pick for the first two years. At least that is the way is was done before when vancouver and toronto entered the league.
