jaycee24ParticipantShout out to my guy Stan Van who just slowly but surely keeps finding ways to make the cards favor him with a short stack in Detroit
The Pistons sign Reggie Jackson to a 5 year 80 Million contract and the league laughs at it….today Jeremy Lin signs in Brooklyn for 13 Million yearly. Joakim Noah is making 17 million in NY to be 50% of what he once was…don’t even want to think about how much Moszgov is making to be a Center on a Laker roster, these signings are laughable.
The Marcus Morris trade the Tobias Harris trade, these are the only moves a team like Detroit can make to contend. You find bargains and exploit teams looking to dump players.
The moves this year are solid as heck and logical as heck, Henry Ellenson has a boat of potential and I think he’ll grow by leaps and bounds over the next 4 years and he’ll be starter quality when he reaches his ceiling.
We trade an unneeded Jodie Meeks who I’m actually surprised we could get off our hands for an extra 6.5 million in cap space.
The thought was that we’d go for Jeremy Lin or Brandon Jennings or possibly Seth Curry for around 10 mill and we end up with a just as good backup PG in Ish Smith for 3 years $18 mill!
Locking in Andre is neccessary and alot of people don’t realize that. Andres value is going to grow in a big way when the Hack a Drummond strategy is banned. I think I’m not the only one who would be shcoked if we don’t appear in the ECF in the next 5 years with Andre acting as 2016 Dwight.
We still have money to spend but I’m curious is our chase for Al Horford over? A part of me hopes so just because I think we could add depth in the paint which we desperately need and I don’t want to lose the value in the contracts of Harris and Morris who are starter quality. If we end free agency with a Ryan Anderson/Thomas Robinson/Derrick Williams or some combo of that were looking like contenders in the East.
Shout out to the Pacers as well they are to me looking like the #2 squad in the East right now.

OhCanada-ParticipantThe best GM’s only make deals they win. SVG, Morey, Hinkie, Ujiri and Ainge just off the top of my head rarely take risks. Like you said they look for sellers and weaknesses in other organizations. Buy low and sell high.

flybobbyflyParticipantEvery move Stan Van has made since he has been there has been measured. He goes after undervalued guys that he can use in his system. I love the moves he’s made the last couple weeks. Ellenson has a lot of potential for the 18th pick in a draft. Ish smith signing looks like an absolute steal with evan turner getting 70 million.
I hope we can lock up KCP next year and keep the core together.

flybobbyflyParticipantSince Shaq is long gone from his playing days we should retire the hack-a-shaq- strategy and start calling it beat-a-drumm

Jr. ROXASParticipantOn a sidenote, KCP’s defense is insane. If his team actually gets more television time and hype, he’d be first team all defense for sure. And yes, over Tony Allen.

r377ParticipantThe Meeks and Baynes signings were not that good, Jon Leuer wasn’t great either. Ish smith looks like good value.
KCP is not a great shooter, I’ve never noticed that he was that good on the defensive end (ill have to watch him more closely this season). He fits well in the Pistons system, but is not a great shooter and would prob struggle on another team….
We have had Dumars and Rip Hamilton for 20 years or so, so maybe my expectations are higher for a good SG….
