valentineWith a sure win over Dallas tonight, they will bw down 1.5 games behind GSW.. It’s so crazy because everyone keeps mentionning Golden State, but all along, the Spurs were playing great basketball and no1 mentions them.. I am calling it tonight.. They are better than the warriors, let the negs rain

Magic JordanParticipantIt’s too bad that we can’t get a Warriors, Spurs, Thunder Cavs conference(non-conference) finals. Those are clearly the 4 best teams if all healthy. Warriors vs Spurs would be great with two teams who move the ball, shoot a lot of 3’s and play the game the right way. Thunder vs Cavs in a superstar match up across the board. Alas we will see one of the Spurs, Thunder or Dubs out in the 2nd round most likely. The Cavs will skate backwards to the finals as most of LBJ’s teams do.

NBAjunkie81ParticipantBoston – Lebron – led teams have ruled the East since 2007 – I’d luv to see the playoffs seeded w/o regard to conference…. W/ regards to the og post… as much as the Spurs impress, I still can not put them ahead of Golden State…..
the Warriors small ball line up w/ Green at the 5 spot are something like +60 points per 100 possessions which is absolutely unheard of – those are video game numbers & until someone beats them I think they have earned that #1 slot…..
And since Clev has played & lost to both teams in the last 10 days – Spurs won a close game at home while GS blew Clev out on their home court by 40 pts! – But the Spurs will get their chance in the spring…..

Hype MachineAs long as the League is cake-walking LBJ to the finals every year ($$$$)…why would any stars want to move to the East.
Uess you join the Cavs, you won’t get past the Conference Finals.
I think the Warriors and Cavs are due for a rematch.

SlickBouncePassParticipantI can’t wait to see Spurs vs. Warriors in the regular season, let alone hopefully the WCF.
But, I hope the Thunder play GSW (would be fun to see the great athleticism and shooting) and the Spurs get to hopefully spank the Clippers in a revenge series.
The Spurs have Improved this year: Kawhi Leonard is now this muscle-bound guy that I don’t think is going to exhaust as much energy guarding guys like Lebron, and he’s now a strong factor offensively. I think his improvement has really set this year’s team apart. Love his game, attitude, and hands.
But they FINALLY got smart and added a big man that was more than just a space occupier, has offensive game, and clogs up space and rebounds Hard. Tiago Splitter I think cost this team TWO CHIPS at least. If they signed a Tyson Chandler to play alongside Duncan they would have two more rings.
I also think this size with Aldridge and the strength of West, is going to really help this team in the Playoffs. They are now, as big as OKC and the Clippers and definitely the GSW.
I do think they’ll miss another scorer like Belinelli or Gary Neal, but I think they have just improved too much with Leonard, Aldridge, and West. I love Manu, but I think its foolish to depend on him late in playoffs. They go by this policy of living and dying with their core, well, Manu plays late minutes over Danny Green which I dont’ like, but Green cant’ do much with the ball in his hands. I Love Timmy and Tony, both those guys are obvious Prime Time Players and Champions, I just think Manu’s age precludes the Spurs from also depending on him late. He cost them one Chip by missing FTs that would have put away the Heat, and he misses easy layups late in games that sap the team’s energy, and his shot is nowhere near reliable like Belinelli or Gary Neal.
For fun, here’s the Spurs GSW Matchup Head to head.
Tim Duncan vs. Andrew Bogut – almost a wash, I think Duncan gives you more all around and is more dependable, I just think its tough for Timmy to body up against a brute like Bogut. Never doubt Timmy.
Aldridge/West vs. Draymond/Speights – Really interesting to see how either side defends the other. Would love to see West muscle up Draymond, a great battle. Don’t like Aldridge vs. Draymond….not sure how that would go. I think its a styles matchup, it depends how much energy Draymond uses on defense, but I think his style of play may give him the edge over Aldridge. May have to go GSW here, surprisingly. I think the Draymond factor is bigger than the Aldridge factor.
Kawhi vs. Iggy/Barnes – I think Kawhi, having to do less than Lebron overall, is a tougher matchup since he’s younger than Lebron, for Iggy/Barnes. Kawhi is clearly superior. Also, Kawhi can probably guard Klay Thompson if needed since Iggy/Barnes are not really factors on this team.
Danny Green / Ginobli vs Klay Thompson / Barbosa – clearly in favor of the GSW, probably by the biggest margin. So they have advantage at PF and SG spots…
Parker/Mills vs. Curry/Livingston – Aging Parker plays huge in big spots and big matchups, but I think the Curry force is too much in a 7 game series. Not by as huge a margin as Klay Thompson, but I like GSW’s guards far better.
In summary, GSW guards + the PF position in a high-pace shootout predicated on spacing, will likely favor GSW. It really will depend on how much of a factor Kawhi is in guarding Draymond/Thompson/Curry and also hitting the 3 the way he’s been doing it.
Love this matchup.

LaFlamaBlancaParticipantSpurs/Warriors will go to game 7. Cavs will go coast through the east. If they are healthy they are getting the Championship. The west will beat eachother up. Lebron will get another ring and lets not forget how Kyrie hooped when he was in the finals. Chalk one up for LBJ and finally the Cavs will get their ring. Neg me if you want but yall will see. If the cavs are healthy they will win.

SlickBouncePassParticipantwill be interesting. just to see the full Cavs vs. GSW that hasn’t been playing its best.
But if its Spurs Cavs, the Spurs are too deep with the bigs. In my SA/GSW comparision I forgot to mention Diaw who is awesome. Diaw vs. Draymond might go to the Spurs just because Diaw is Draymond Green before Draymond Green.
Spurs vs. Cavs
Timmy vs. Mozgov/Thompson – Timmy all day. Love that Timmy is one of the few bigmen at his age, that boxes out the beast that is Tristan Thompson.
Aldridge/Diaw vs. Love – Timmy and Aldridge embarass Love defensively. Love is barely a factor, I don’t think he gets the touches he needs to consistently be in the opposing team’s head. I don’t think teams fear or care much about Kevin Love.
Kawhi vs. Lebron – Much closer a matchup than it ever has been. Kawhi is now as strong as Iggy, and as good a defender of Lebron as there is, he is younger, and also gives Lebron something to think about defensively.
Danny Green / Ginobli vs. JR and Shumpert – thats a wash. I think SA 2 guards are more reliable than JR and
Parker / Mills vs. Kyrie/Dellie – right now there is a huge question as to how Kyrie and Lebron will play with each other. I think they are very comfortable running the offense when one or the other isn’t out there. Kyrie is what he is man, an incredibly skilled one on one player, he doesnt’ make his teammates better and is still working on making his teammates better. Meanwhile, Mills is a great backup PG that can shoot the 3, and Parker scores in more dependable ways than Kyrie.
I think the frontcourt of SA is too deep for Cleveland, and Kawhi’s ascent also makes the matchup easier for the Spurs, because Kawhi is as good as he’s ever been.
I actually think SA comfortably handles Cleveland. I’m sorry, as great as Lebron is, certain aspects of his game hold him back. And that is his inconsistent Jumpshot. This is also why i’d take Ingram over Simmons right now. Even Lebron has kryptonite. Simmons ain’t no Lebron.

Mr. HookShotParticipantThe Spurs play great, and I believe their biggest strength is their experience, which gives them a demeanor they have seen everything there is already.
The Warriors have only recently arrived at the top of the mountain, but they have the advantage of versatility. If you look at their line-up, they can throw out so many different combinations, with Green, Iggy and Barnes being able to play various positions. Plus the emergence of Ezeli gives them a change of pace with his athleticism at the C over Bogut (who’s a far better passer).

I.C.Y.U.NV.MEParticipantI think the Spurs are the best team in basketball as well. The consistency has been ridiculous. Them versus GS would make for a very good series. I just don’t know if SA can keep up when GS goes to the small line up. They’re older and don’t really run. They will be forced to when GS goes to the small line up. Should be interesting.

PulseGlazerParticipantSpurs are incredible. Their defense is nuts, but they weirdly lack the only thing the Warriors have been vulnerable to. The Warriors can struggle when teams beat them up on the offensive glass. Pop basically invented ignoring the offensive glass for defensive purposes. That’s a huge benefit tot he Warriors since I don’t think even the Spurs can stop them in transition (30 foot 3s tend to be hard to defend).
The key to the series is twofold, I think. First, can and will Kawhi cover Steph? Kawhi is incredible on wings and power 1s, but can he handle that guile, especially off ball and in a series of pick and rolls? Kawhi is the best wing defender since Pippen. I can’t wait, especially since Tony has no shot at Steph and Green is too slow. The other key is Diaw. Diaw is so versatile, he should allow the Spurs to stay relatively big against the Death Lineup. If he can punish the Warriors in their best lineup without tiring…
