cavairo7ParticipantFirst off, this is pure speculation, I have not heard of the Suns signing Davis or heard the team give any indication of such a move. With that disclaimer out of the way, I was thinking of why Davis to the Suns would be a sherwd signing. The Suns are primed for a top 3 pick and have been giving their attention to their young guns in Len, Booker, and Goodwin. Brandon Knight is coming back from injury sometime this month and the Suns will need to see what they want to do with Knight and if he is part of the team’s future. This is where Davis comes in, Knight has never had a veteran point guard of which to learn from. The closest Knight has been to this was learning from Jason Kidd last year in Milwaukee. Those 52 games under Kidd were Knight’s most efficient as a pro. Just as Elton Brand has helped with mentoring the young big men in Philly, Davis can do the same with Knight and the other young guards in Phoenix. Like Knight, Davis had a scorer’s mentality but was able to blend that with play making ability to get his teammates involved. He would be able to help teach Knight the balance between scoring and play making. Coach Watson is close to Davis ever since their UCLA days and would welcome another veteran presence in the locker room. Baron wouldn’t be playing much but his tutelage would be priceless, especially to Knight and Booker. This might be the only scenario for Davis to return to the league: helping, instructing, and providing leadership to a team desperately craving for some.

Mr. HookShotParticipantAlthough I really hope Davis gets another shot, I have to say I don’t believe in it. His last stop at the Knicks showed the player he currently is, and I’m not sure what he brings to the table. He seems like a nice and fun guy, but I have a hard time seeing a mentor in him.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantIf suns wanted to bring in Davis as a mentor to knight or any of their young guys, it would likely be as a coach and not a player.

McDunkinThis really doesn’t help the arguments of the NBADL being a less appealing choice over going overseas.
