bobbygillerAccording to ESPN.com the Cavs and Leon Powe have agreed to a 2 year deal.

Powe suffered an ACL injury during the playoffs this past year against the Chicago Bulls and may not be healthy until after the all-star break but as a Celtics fan I feel like Powe will be a very underrated and productive piece for Cleveland this year much like Jamario Moon and Anthony Parker will be. Again, as a Celtics fan I’m sad to see Powe leave, he was an effective player during his time in Boston and was a key contributor to the Celtics championship 2 years ago. He was a fan favorite and has one of the most inspiring stories of any player in the league (he grew up with no father, was homeless, and had his mother pass away when he was just a boy thus leaving him to provide for his siblings).

eprizzle14ParticipantDoes anyone think Jawad Williams can make an impact for the Cavs this year? I’m assuming Powe wont be ready at the start of the year, so whos going to minutes behind Varajao? I think he could be the type of player they need matchup-wise defensively specifically for Lewis in Orlando. As for Powe, he’s solid and I love the Bay area guys but those knees are shaky.

j1232eParticipantwill be a hell of a practise player, and when cleveland is up by 20 in the fourth, jawad will bring energy and hustle on the court not allowing the opponites to creep back into the game.

j1232eParticipantI really like jawad though, I was a big fan of his blue collar college game, unfortunattly I think that is all he has got.

j1232eParticipantso was morris almond, Almond scored 50 and 60 point games. Jawad might get some minuts early in the season until leon powe gets healthy. Maybe Jawad will shine and prove me wrong. I hop that is the case because i was a big fan when he was on North Carolina.

marcusfizer21ParticipantHaving Leon Powe means no more Joe Smith for Cleveland???? Oh well… I would love to have Joe Smith stick around for one more year with the Cavs for one last shot at a championship hunt… I just love Average Joe… But with a guy like Leon Powe in the roster, I don’t think Joe will be there anymore…sniff!
